A true Warrior, 71 year old Native Lady(Harriet Nahanee) jailed for protesting.

R.I.P. on Feb. 24, Harriet Nahanee, passed away in a Vancouver hospital shortly after serving a 14 day jail term. She had been convicted of contempt of court for participating in a 2006 blockade of the Sea-to-Sky Highway expansion for 2010.

PS i am a pathological liar, and have illusions of grandeur. I post pictures of pot plants i found on the internet and i have never nor will i ever consider the cultivation of marijuana, as it is illegal.

Oka Quebec 1990
When the Quebec Provincial Police (SQ) attacked a Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) barricade at a totally unimportant dirt road on July 11th, 1990 to enforce a civil injunction, which had expired the previous day, the longest stand-off between natives and non-native forces in North America resulted. It lasted 78 days, two days longer than the stand-off at Wounded Knee.

Unfortunately Corporal Lemieux lost his life in the shootout which happened due to the ill advised attack by the SQ. It was never established who killed him and it is possible that it was "friendly fire".

Starting in 1869 the US government forced large numbers of Native children into Boarding Schools where brainwashing techniques were used to try to assimilate them and teach them the ways of western society. A popular term was "Kill the Indian, Save the man". Children were stolen from their family, humiliated, physically and mentally abused. More than 100,000 native children were stripped of their language, cultural heritage and identity.
