Rep Power: 500 | | The Strangest Secret~You are What You Think An Excerpt from The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them." Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about. Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry - his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing. How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind. Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision. We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant. Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand- one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds-one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted. As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants - one corn, one poison. The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant it must return to us. You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant. I have felt this way for years. I always said to my kids, if you think bad thoughts it takes over your mind and that is what you become. I beleive if you think high minded thoughts, then you also see this side of things, and much opens for you in your own growth. I totally agree with this. My only addition would be enviroment. If the land is able to maintain what we plant then anything you plant should grow. Such is life if we have a poor enviroment you may be limited to grow whatever you plant. Thus good intentions often only become and stay as dreams not ever turning into anything else.
So, sometimes you have to look for greener pastures in order to plant the right seeds. Don't continue to try and get something out of nothing. Move on to better enviroments where you can flourish and grow to anything you dream.

Rep Power: 173 | | In the past week, I have read the book THE SECRET by Rhonda Byrne, twice. (google it) I HIGHLY recommend it. I went back and found my old copy of THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING and POSITIVE IMAGING by Norman Vincent Peale and read them both again too. I am sure that Byrne also read both books, as well as studied the writings of Madam Blavatsky and the Theosopical Society and the writings of Max Heindel in COSMOS CONCEPTION. THE SECRET is one of the basic teachings of anything to do with metaphysics, and the Gnostic teachings. THE STRANGEST SECRET by Nightengale is one of hundreds of books out about THOUGHTS ARE THINGS and POSITIVE THOUGHTS shape our lives and destiny and Life is reaping what we sew. A knowledge and belief in THE SECRET is what many successful people have learned to follow to become successful. I highly recommend it. There is a BOOK, a movie, and recorded CDs to listen to, about THE SECRET and THE STRANGEST SECRET. We ARE what we think, its a fact. And we can shape and change what we are by changing our thinking. I've considered a thread about THE SECRET that might help others change thier lives or undesirable life styles and habits. Jangel, did you read THE STRANGEST SECRET?

yes, I read The Secret a few years ago. There is also a dvd, Roseman. I have often felt I would like to pay this foreward to some people I know that live in their resentments. But i think these people would not see how this impacts their lives. If you have the honesty to understand this, then you can do much. And the universe brings things to you. it brought me to GP and then to being where I am. It quite often surprises me how the universe unfolds in it's own time.
I have also had a bill over our bed for almost a year. We live in hope!
No, I have not read "the strangest Secret" yet. But I would.
Peace
