Default nature

in a book i am reading i read the line:

"..., I could not avoid noticing a kind of seperation between human beings and all other species. We cut ourselves off by living in cement blocks, moving around in glass-and-metal bubbles and spending a good part of our time watching other human beings on television. "

i saw this to be true and i thought, how out of touch we are with reality!

The humans are so busy and even when not busy their minds are so full of stuff, it leaves no room for living for the moment or the day. When a person takes time to chill out and free their minds of all the fast moving stuff that takes over their days, well with out even trying peace and mother nature takes over, you notice what is really around you and what is important....You start to hear the birds and see the Bald Eagle that has been right in front of you all this time.....

Everyone needs to stop and take a minute to smell the roses. LOL. I totally agree though.

I like to find a clearing in the woods and sit for a while. It's therapeutic. Then my whining cat finds me and spoils it all. Peace, Tex

You tend to really take note of the "little" things in life when you face your own mortality. Great thread!

Peace and Love,
Med

this is very true. i experienced this first hand after i survived a mugging. i was shot twice and left to defend myself while several people looked on. as i lay there disoriented and in pain, the only thing that i could think of was how angry i was at the people around me. not so much towards the one who had just tried to kill me, but at those who stood by and did nothing. nothing.
i have sworn to myself since then, that i will help anyone that i can, no matter how busy i am at that time, no matter how simple the need may be.
so yes, the little things that we sometimes perceive as being trivial are in fact so important that they hold our very lives together, as fleeting as they are.

could that be something the censor will turn into asterix'?

any way i think med nailed it with this:

yeh. being there makes you understand what an honour it is being here... funny that not everyone sees it. i reckon we spend more time destroying everything around us than actually taking pleasure in our brief moments here.

so yes, the little things that we sometimes perceive as being trivial are in fact so important that they hold our very lives together, as fleeting as they are.

I was trying to find a way to explain and understand this concept more fully and looking for a safe place to explore it in conversation with some folks who might not mind the concept being discussed. I hope this is the right place.

I was in a forum that is very rough and tumble and raunchy. Their most prized value is their freedom to say and do whatever they want when and to whomever they want with out consequence

doing harm and hurting feelings was not a consideration there
and to say, "ouch" was met with hostility and aggression.

Words were used such as, "you know you like it", and, "you were playing along", and "you were asking for it" were so ingrained into the culture there that they did not see it. They created the culture very deliberately so as to retain the freedoms they prized above all else that anyone or anything that challenged that freedom, even with a cry to "please stop" was met with anger and hatred.

They used a girls very personal body parts as vile nicknames against women to prevent anyone from caring or hearing her cry.. This is not new. This is as old as time itself. To discredit a demoralize a woman for not going along with these vicious games has been around since the beginning of time..

Mary was rejected by her own people. Branded a ***** for being pregnant out of wedlock. Such a thing in her time was considered a horrible offence!

she was called names and demoralized. Joseph alone stood at her side and brought her and the light of the world to Bethlehem to be born...

Please, if you find yourself speaking those words about or to a woman, any woman. Stop and listen and know what you really speak

for they have been used as knives to cut woman down and make her bleed since the beginning of time and in that moment

you need to decide
if you are part of the problem
or if you have the courage to be
the solution....

Thank you for listening
i hope i have not offended anyone

for me is to be outdoors and amongst non-human living creatures. They seem to be so honest and clear in their intentions, whereas there is no guess work or deception. Spiders will bite you, gofers will eat your roots, your dog will love you and defend and protect you with his life, etc.. Birds come into my yard and talk to me. we actually have conversations. squirrels and lizards have come up to my sliding glass door to visit on more that one occasion.

humans, however... not so easily delt with, imo.

the government is controlling us brainwashing us with the TV and the internet. first we were just watching a lot of TV and movies but now were addicted to shows like TMZ and nosey nonsense like that. why are people so interested in what Paris Hilton had for lunch?
Without TV and the Internet we'd have no choice but to LIVE our lives with mother nature rather than dell computers samsung tv's and microsoft/sony Xbox's and Playstations. The net is good for alot of things but I find myself online for hours a day. I just took a long weekend off the net and it felt great. I don't watch tv except after I go to bed. as much as I Bitseeh about it I still don't read any books. But I like to think I'm educating myself on GP everyday I log on.

I feel like the apes and other animals are judging us when I go to the zoo. thinking how sad we our the way we live our lives. I'm pretty stoned when I'm at the zoo though.

Sorry for the long boring rant.
