Rep Power: 500 | | A Crystaline Moment....Eye to Eye with a Dragonfly!
Have you ever had a moment in time that was complete and miraculous unto itself? Where all that you are and all that you know seemed to fade away into the distance and you concentrated all your attention on the NOW!? and the unique experiance the universe brought to you?
Here is my moment, and after, tell us yours.....we are all creatures of beauty and the universe is here for us. Our own to explore and discover...share your story!
Eye to Eye with a Dragonfly!
Where we live we are blessed to have a lot of property. We have made paths and trails through our forest and fields to drive our riding tractors on. (we have 4) It is wonderful and peaceful, full of the beauty of nature and the peace of the country.
One day I am booting along on my Deere, all of 5 miles an hour along our larger trail and out of the air zooms a dragonfly. Irridescent and stunningly beautiful, like a glittering aquamarine helicopter in the air, minute and small. This beauty zooms along and literally seems to stop in mid air....and flying backwards, looking into my eyes it pauses, keeping perfect pace with me on my Deere. I am so amazed and stunned to be in this position. It must of been 4 inches in front of my eyes. I am sure the whole experiance was meer seconds but it seemed so long. I know this wonderful being must of been saying "WTF is this big thing flying in my woods!" equally amazed to be eye to eye with me. I am amazed I kept driving straight and that I managed to look into the eyes of this dragonfly. It was brilliant and earth moving....to be eye to eye with a dragonfly!!!
Peace

I've had moments like that when hiking in the mountains. :-) Dragon flies are one of my favorite insects. Here is a pic I snapped just for you the other day while taking a walk.
peace,

We were sitting in our favorite bar near the campus and I was contemplating the weave of the fabric of my jeans. It was a life altering experience. | | The Following User Says Thank You to CletusAwreetus For This Useful Post: | |

I slip into zen by gazing at rippling water with eyes slightly unfocused, so that it appears kinda sparkly and fuzzy. I snap out of it when something interferes (like a cloud over the sun) with the light. I've been known to sit entranced by the water, without a single thought, for an hour or more at a time.
Later,

water...dragon flies....i love how nature can pull me out of myself to bask in presence and wonder....sometimes no chemical additives are needed to provoke the most profound states of consciousness (altered consciousness is a wonderful thing)

Rep Power: 0 | | It wasn't a dragonfly but a duck
A mallard drake with it's iridescent green head. And not a tractor, a jet sled. The guys will relate to this. Not that you gals won't. My boat had a stand up console so I was standing when this was going on at 40 mph.
Early AM steelhead fishing. I was jetting down the N Fork of the ----- River in my 17 ft sled sliding around a bend and scared up a flock of mallards. They all scattered but one he stayed right over the bow of my boat. It seemed I could reach out and pet him. I tried to speed up but the darned thing looked me in the eye and sped up too. So I eased up and the duck and I tripped down the river. I ended up going way past where I wanted to stop and fish but that moment will stay with me forever. It was like I was free to fly with the duck.
Jangel thanx for the thread. I haven't thought about things like this in a loooong time. Amazing how similar things happen to folks so far apart.

There is a forest near here....old growth forest, with twisted trunks, some hit by lightening. It is a trail worn into the country side, with paths going off it to many properties. There is even an old trappers cabin. I always think I will bump into an elf or a giant. ...and I walk there through my forest to get to it....I will post some pics of it in a bit.
Peace

yes, wb, it is all part of the beauty we forget, of being part of something bigger than us....a spirit of the heart, and it is shared with many spirits, and not all human. Sometimes we are blessed to share it with....whoever will share with us....
P.S. added the pics to the earlier post
Peace

Yup, a golf course...best thing about that is that usually all the property around a golf course goes permium. I like that for down the road. when I am old and need the money. It is a couple miles away. It has added about a 100grand to most places around and will add more as it is a high end one. and is only new in the last 4 yrs.

sweet, you can walk to the golf course from your house. In the winter the tee boxes make great ramps to launch toboggans towed by snowmobiles off of. Ahh, the memories of a misguided youth.

Actually there are two near us, one directly behind us, and one a few miles walk away. Now, behind is is a whole half of a country concession. We used to have cows and bulls. Once our 2 bulls broke out of our fences and went looking for a heifer or two. They ended up on the golf course behind us and I was chasing after them through a greenbelt which is beyond that. It turns out they where playing soccer on the greens as we kept a large barrel in our feild for them to do this. A a father and his two sons where so amused they paid for the green damage! Thank god cause I know we where broke!

Rep Power: 119 | | crystaline moment while in the ocean
Hawaiian people believe that the water heals. For me, the ocean is the only way i can physically rehab my foot without negatively affecting my arthritis from a car accident.
The day before my gf birthday i was out bodyboarding playing hookie from work (physical therapy). I went for one wave, missed it and when i looked back at the next wave i could see monster sets rolling in. Usually before i go into the water i chant `aia i laila ka wai a Kane (Where is the water of Kane--kah-nay). I didn't do it this time. when i saw the monsters rolling in i kinda took it in stride knowing that it should diminish after a few minutes. Well, it didn't. Wave after wave cam rolling in and each time i saw a wave rise and ready to break, it was like i could see Kane's face on the face of the wave. It took me over 30mins to swim back to shore and once i did the waves died down.
Ultimately i believe it was Kane reminding me as a native Hawaiian to continue and practice what i believe in. In return, i continue to chant before i go bodyboarding and even hiking--different chant. I also have learned a lot of patience because i feel that if Kane wasn't a patient god. I would have drowned in what turned out to be a crystaline moment while in the ocean.
mahalo ke akua (thank you god),
