Hey Folks....

As you know, we have moved the forum to a new server.

Somedude has been working his behind off trying to fix the disaster that is the program that runs this forum. 12 to 18 hour days....on our behalf, and he is such a good guy, please cut him a break!

This is an inherited disaster by the previous owner. Thanks videoman.

Somedude has more bravery in him than I do or anyone else working here.

No one else had the strength of character nor the skills to fix it.

Nor did they have the time to volunteer to do it.

He has done this for us, and what he believes GreenPassion is about.

This is a huge job. And obviously a thankless one after the grief he has taken. Not Nice at all... :bash:

We have many add-ons with this site, and the initial install of all of it was jury rigged and made to work.

Now, it was not stable.

This is part of the reason for the past years' crashes.

As well, we had a server host that was not operating in our best interest and was not even aware of our site being hacked. This was unconscionable, so we switched servers. The damage had to be HAND SORTED to be gotten rid of. This is why posts and members where lost. I have already explained all this. As has somedude. The Brutal Honest Truth

Our templates had been so badly damaged, they could not be saved and the site function. So now we have had to get rid of them, so we only have THIS template. No more skin choices at this time. Maybe someday....

Somedude has downloaded this new one, which he is working on. It is the most calming one he could find and will be changed to suit us, once we have the bells and whistles fixed and are functioning properly. Please stop complaining and remember what we are here for. And it is not about pretty site pages....is it?

I have done my best to explain all this to the members and staff. And many many of you are supportive and helpful.

It is indeed the loud minority that is being nasty.

This is not helpful and very ungrateful. I also know the complainers never volunteered to fix it, and wouldn't even think of taking it on, so they can shut up, or else leave and come back when we have it sorted.

Many of you are offering help, and I say thank you to that.

I have heard many complaints, but not many co-operating to help him fix it. Thank you for those fine members taking their time to help. You know who you are.

Make up your mind, are you a complainer or a helper? It is up to you.

Yesterday he recreated our Overgrow FAQ...all by himself...and it took him hours and hours to do it. But it is for our members. So he did it because I asked him to. 1519 files, (146 KB/s) Here is the new link:

In time it will be put on the home page etc. But at least we have it now. I am also working on archiving every page, which will take a long time. But we will get it done. This info is fading from the net. Some of the pages are no longer available so it is the best we can do to preserve it.

We are also going all over the site trying to correct links in posts so they work. Any link into the Old GP posts is no longer working, even though the post will be here, but it has a new address now, so this too is a huge job. But we will get it done. Let us know if you find pages of links that don't work, PM me please with a link to that post. I am storing them for now until we can fix them and re-post them with the corrections. This too is a huge job....and we could use member help with this project.



Let us see who offers to help...many just complain and it is sad to think they only have that to offer. Where is our positive action gone? This is for us all, and the future.

What somedude has done has been resurrect this site from a mess which would of meant the death of our site. And I do not know enough about programming and site making to even think of trying it. No one else was willing to do this. Where YOU???

Please EVERYONE stop your vetching and criticism. We are trying our very best to save what we can. Once the site is functioning properly, we will again try (Here me, I said TRY) to get more posts off the old server. We have until the 25th of Sept. to do this so it is all good.

What I am asking you to do is to HELP US, and if you can't do that then please do not hinder us in our efforts. Showing anger and being nasty does nothing but waste all of our time.

I know GP is a compassionate site. Where has that gone? Please show a bit of it for SomeDude and stop the negativity. At this point, I would not blame him if he just walked....

All the crap he has taken for doing a good job is unconscionable.

Stop it now.

He could of simply done a clean slate and then boy, would all of you be *****ing! But he didn't. He took the hardest route and saved all he could.


You have to understand, we are working our butts off here, correcting links, copying and pasting what we can, and reviving things, renewing pictures etc etc etc. I know I am trashed and cannot see straight today. I could not sleep with stress last night. So now I am tired beyond tired, as I know the Dude is too.

So if you see a post asking for info, on what you see when you log in,

HELP US so we know how wide ranging the problem i!!!!

If we think it is only the one or 5 helpful members only, and not site wide, how can the Dude fix it?

We ask for your co-operation while we work all this stuff out, and please, can the negative attitude and cut us a friggen break!

IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION, THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM

So help us folks, come ON!

This is a community, and I like to think of it as a BIG Family.

Let us show it now, when we really really need it!

Although there is no edit option for old messages.

This is a fairly minor error that there is no hurry for..

Tho, I have to say, you have been most helpful. I appreciate that hugely.

That is horrible to see you having such problems.
Especially the security issues where access to everyones passwords was compromised, I do hope this time it is going to be more secure?
This can hardly be an inherited problem, this sounds like more of a lack of proper server maintenance, they do require maintenance, and re-indexing and so fourth.
I do not believe that there ever were any "themes" used here.
It was just selective usage of colors.

A server in Canada is far more secure for US based growers, because US based LEO's would have to have the co-operation of Canadian authorities to obtain the needed warrant to seize your server.(not an easy task) If the server is based in the US, all LEO has to do, is make a phone call, and the contents of your server and all of Greenpassion's member's personal information is in the hands of LEO.

I do like the new look, keep it up !!

I'd like to start saying GP looks cool,looks really good.I like the colours,general outlook and I don't experience any major problems.Am I the lucky one? I don't know. maybe I didn't expect it to work smoothly from the first moment it was brought back to life. maybe I moved my home so many times in my life that I learnt that things tend to settle down slowly and often painfully after such a radical change.the solution to this is : DEAL WITH IT! work hard to put everything back on tracks or sit quiet and wait if you don't know how/don't want to help.
the GP’s memebrship is FREE of charge.people who work here do it for FREE too.GreenPassion is a COMMUNITY and works along community rules.people who have been mambers of GP for a longer while know we have fantastic owners,true and genuine revolutionists running GP as an educational action and not for profit.
if you feel like moaning cos this or that doesn't work yet,please don't do it.it's not constructive and doesn't help to solve the problem. if you don't like the outlook and colours,well,you can always cut and paste text to MS Word.if you got emotionally attached to some texts which went missing,well,don't get attached to things that don't last.life is unpredictable.and if you have expectations and demands,well,start expecting and demanding from yourself first and let the Admins do their fantastic job.

well... I just wanted to sidestep the drama, apologize for being a snot and give kudos to SomeDude (take your pick of dudes? j/k), to the staff of GP for ALL their hard work and dedication for a largely thankless job (yea, they get thanks often, but 10x more pissy crap too) and to the members here... those who help to make this such an informative and helpfull community. THANK YOU ALL!

It's truly a golden age in the history of cannabis and marijuana enthusiasts (both medical and otherwise) to be able to network like those that came before us could only dream of.
