Rep Power: 197 | | Who else is homebound?
for one reason or another?
as ive been reading your posts
it seems to me that there are quite a few of us
which isn't surprising
because when you can't go anywhere
GP provides much needed
intellectual and creative interaction
as well as companionship
so i was just wondering how many of us there are out there
i myself have been able to get back on my feet with an almost full remission at times from fibromyalgia, but am still without a vehicle, so I am on foot, which isn't very far. At the time, I still rely on friends and family for anything i need more than a mile from my house.
And I was wondering how you guys are doing with your mobility?

My immobility is due to no job to go to. Sorry, thought this included me but it really doesn't. But I have to say, GP has pulled me through alot of boredom and depression so far. Mostly due to not being able to provide for 4 months now. So I feel handicapped in a way but I figure, if I can help a total stranger via keyboard it makes me feel that maybe there is a reason I'm not working right now other than the dumb economy. I imagine I would be even more frustrated if I didn't get out because I was sick. I say GP is in general a good way to spend time when there is nothing else to do. And my lil plants seem to appreciate that I learn from you guys too lol

I like to think I'm just settled down in my "old" age of 41 but really, I seem to attract the odd balls for some reason so I think I am better sitting here on GP. LOL If I had my crap together, I would have it made I think. I don't like anti depressants anymore, I seemed to build up a tolerance to them and I think too much of a good thing is too much. On top of not being able to afford them anyway now. No weed once again with only $40 for food this week and all my "loving dealer" can come up with is $60/eigth tonight. So I am really kinda leaning on GP hard these days but I swear I will try to help others if I can. Thanks for "validating" me Desert!! LOL It's nice to know I belong!!

I am lucky right now to be able to drive. I putt around town and drive my girl and our son to different appointments or work. By day I'm the chauffeur, chef by night and on weekends I'm the downstairs maid too!. LOL And on the other days I feel like chit and I complain I get looked after.
Oh yeah and of course I'm chief dog walker for our little girl Kaysee. She gets walks all day and night around here. We live close to a large pond and we walk her around that. Last night we saw the local beaver and her kids too! ty 16th and new rooms with kaysee 042.jpg
If it weren't for GP I don't know what I would be doing. I find the group most stimulating and it helps me deal with my illness more positively.

Im currently home bound because I lost my job in May and have been unable to find work all this time. So, for now im a stay at home dad and its been a blast. my mobility is actually pretty good now because i'm able to medicate more if needed and I finally got my own car,so the wifey and I dont have to share vehicles anymore. I still have alot of issues with my back. sometimes still hard to get out of bed.

Fortunately I am not homebound. Though I was pretty much a hermit for a while when I was realllllllllly sick. My solution at the time was to get a motorcycle. That way every time I went out it would be very fun.

I'm homebound not so much for mobility impedance as for being unemployed (and a little depressed which manifests as a slight agoraphobia and amotivation). Like SomeDude, I'm playing the mommy role. I love it. Beats sweating it out over a ten to twelve hour day running four inch conduit and wiring switchgear in the cold. If I find a way to never go back to work I'll be just as happy, my daughter is the most amazing company. As for wheelchair bound mobility issues, i can serve as a proxy with considerable experience. My late brother was a paraplegic for the entirety of his life and he was my best friend. Even growing up. So I am well aware of a host of issues concerning this. When he was an adult he got his license to drive. We had to purchase a set of hand controls and a suicide knob to install on his vehicles. There are more options for this than you can imagine, including removable set ups. His were bolt ins, so it'd be my job to retrofit them into his vehicle whenever he would get a new ride. As for accessibility issues, there are some places that are grandfathered out of ADA requirements, and there's nothing like a good 'ol piggy back ride up three flights of steps to get the old heart rate going. I used to take him way out in the woods like that, up steep hills, so we could watch nature in action overlooking empty quarries, and we'd smoke joint after blunt after chillum. Those were the days. If you have a determination (upper body mobility does not hurt either) and an optimistic nature you can overcome most of life's obstacles.
