to live! Asking yourself that question, or just rhetorically should hint or guide you to the answer(The individual sense of what one should do with their life; Obviously the meaning of life isnt a single law set in stone for everyone). If it doesnt, than it should help you deconstruct and analyze why your wondering or asking

The Talmud teaches:
Just before a baby is born, an angel shows it everything there is to know and learn on Earth.
Then at the moment of birth, the angel touches the infant’s upper lip, and the child forgets everything.
We spend the rest of our lives remembering what the angel showed us.
This is a generic guide to the meaning of life.
It does not describe one view of the meaning of life and recommend you adopt it.
It helps you remember what the angel showed you.
The angel showed you the meaning of life.

Gee, the meaning of life, Like Tracey said " Frankly, sometimes I have no idea" Then there are times I think I know, When I can think of the good I have done in my life, and the kind of personality it takes to do what and how I lived my life, and most of all, when I look at my kids and see the kind of people they have grown to be, that is when I say, So that is me, that is who I am, That is the meaning of my life. This is what I was put here for!! What we do here and now is for the generations of tomorrow....

Oh, what a great subject, and one that we'll probably never have the answer to.
I don't try too hard to figure it out, for many people with more brains than I have don't know either. I don't believe in angels. I don't "believe" in anything. I just "be" and have confidence in nature.
This is going to sound terrible to some, but here's my theroy:
My theory is that we are here to destroy this cell called earth, which is perfect for us, but maybe not for a larger being. The larger being has sent in its antibodies, and that's us. We are here to consume, consume, consume. No, it doesn't sound nice and fluffy, but it makes some sense.
Ever since I've hit on this theory, it has given me much more compassion... for crooks, for bums, for so-called "no-good low-life"~ for every living being who is here consuming. It would mean that we are all fulfilling our "purpose", whether we know it or not. We all simply popped up on this planet, with no idea why.
Well, that's my idea. Of course, no one knows. So anyone's guess is just as good.
I'm not good at debate, so don't attack me on this. Just think about it, as you go through your day and see if it might make sense.

I think we are simply here to experience. When we "die", all our experiences are harvested to be blended with the "Grand Experience", so the "Mind" has something to think about for eternity.

I'm not sure life has a "meaning". But, it does have a purpose.
We come here soft and pliable. As my favorite song says, we come "straight from the mold and ready to be sold".
You can compare life to the process of making a sword. We start as a lump of soft malleable iron, full of impurities. From the fire to the hammer we go, back and forth, with an occasional dip in the water to cool, as needed. Not all the lumps of iron end up making good swords, though. Many crack or shatter under the stress and many more are rejected due to flaws in the metal.
For the few that survive all that ass-kicking with the fire and the hammer, their blades need to be honed, sharpened and polished. Minor flaws and imperfections need to be ground away and the edge needs to be just so.
Then, at long last, what was an lump of soft, black iron is now a finely tempered blade, tried and tested by hammer and fire, polished and honed by the skillful hands of the master smith.
I'm not sure what happens after that. But, I guess there's a reason for it all. There always is.
our spirits are eternal
that we are here having a spiritual experience
in a physical vessel (body)
and that this experience is just part of our journey
of evolution leading us to become
whatever it is we are destined to become
and that karma rules the justice of our experience
and we have the ability to choose a purpose such as healing, or teaching, or protecting
while we are here according to our values

to be able to study the Talmud..
i too believe when we come down and inhabit these bodies of ours that we "forget" and then spend a lifetime remembering. I believe these memories are allowed us when we are ready to understand them and that we go through many experiences to prepare us to understand them
Wow! what a treat to wake up to this thread to find such intelligent responses, and as I read I get to listen to the embedded videos.
