Default question on medical marijuana

Hi yall. I have suffer from couple mental disorders and am really thinking of trying marijuana for medical relieve. I suffer from high anxiety, depression ADD. The doctors got me on citalopram, risperidone, and adderral. I think I may try Strawberry cough. I am not a big pot smoker. When ever I smoke I dont like to get to stones. Just one or two hit to feel relaxed. Is this normal? I just don't understand how some people can smoke alot. I always wondered about that?

Yeah.. if you can get away with smoking a little, you are better off. For many, you start to build up a tolerance and just need more to get the same effect. If you do not like smoking, cooking and vaporizing are great ways to ingest all the good stuff without taking in the harmful carcinogens. I have heard good things about strawberry cough. It is on my list of desired strains and pretty close to the top. I think there is no harm in trying cannabis for your conditions. Just take it slow as with any medication you would use and try to get prescription if you are in a progressive state.

I think GG's advice is great...also you may want to be very careful about mixing MJ or any other drugs as the interactions may be unpleasant...consider gowing slow as GG says and keeping a notebook on you reaction/mood/side effects so you can tell what drug or stopping a drug or mixing of drugs is responsible for what...it's easy to make mistakes when trying to determine what is most effective for treatment...do lot's of research and try to determine if the source is trustworthy...wishing you healing

Im sure Im going to catch a lot of flack for saying this. I smoke alot because I am an addict. What else would you call someone who has used pot for over 40 years. I will say it is the only thing that helps my bad back (4 herniated discs) . Marijuana does have a place in medicien, but I smoke all the time. This of course is my own personal opinon

Leap,

When I first started using medical cannibis to control vertigo episodes all I needed was about 3 hits...maybe 1/4 gr. and Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That was 25 months ago, and now I use an average of 2-3 grams a day. One reason is you develop some immunity to certain cannibinoids, the other is my disease has progressed.

Best suggestion, in a medical situation use what you need to, and no more. It saves you $$ on meds, and so long as you have achieved the result, no reason to waste a good smoke for later!

thanks guy for the great advice. I just hate being stoned and not knowing what is going on. So may be I'll give pot a chance. One or two hits here and there should calm my anxiety with out all the negative side effects for being stoned.

From what I have heard try to stick to a sativa if you can, or a cross. A heavy Indica can add to your anxiety. I know, I get that as well. A sativa blend usually is a happy up high and that is what you are looking for. Not a couch lock, heavy high. You are in the right place and among friends.

Peace and hope you find what you need.

I'm going to to talk to a doctor about this. Can you guys point me to couple educational sight to look at for marijuana for anxiety and depression? The doctor got me on three different types of meds and also he doubled up my dose for citalopram. also i i can not for the life of me sleep most nights. I go to finally get to sleep around 6am. when i do go to sleep i still feel tired the next day. I tried some ambient my doctor gave me last light. That stuffs pretty good. I woke up this morning feeling refreshed. But I here ambient is addictive. i guess that is why my doctor only gave me seven tabs for the month to try.

leap, you should check this link out, she has done a ton of research
regarding mmj and prepared a list of links to at least 100 articles and
research abstracts.

Granny's links to cannabis/health-related abstracts - Cannabis.com Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News

and Fman, as a fellow smoker for 40 years (i started in '68) and as
a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, i'd have to say weed is the
only mood altering substance i wasn't addicted too.

i think you can verify this for yourself by looking back and remembering
all the dry spells that didn't send you into dt's, or make you rob some
old lady or whatever. i think as smokers, we have all had times when
there just wasn't anything around. when those times happen, i don't
geek for it, i just miss it and look forward to the day i can re-up.

anyway, that's my take on it and, as a guy that's struggled with
addiction most of my life, i think i might have some insight.

if you want to find out if you really are addicted or just a dedicated
weed-head try this. while you have weed in your possession, make
yourself not smoke for 2 days, if you can go 2 days without a puff,
while in possession, you're not addicted (oh yeah, even if you're not
addicted, as a dedicated weed-head, those 2 days won't be easy
or pleasant, that's not 'cause you're addicted, just accustomed)

lol, good luck
