im such a stoner, i cant find my car keys to save my life.... they are my only set.... uggh ive looked everywhere... if i cant find them, is the only option to get a new ignition.. or can a locksmith make a key for my car.. its an 01 hundai elantra.... or does the dealership have a code for what my key would be that they could make me one?

I had to replace a key on my wifes car the key was 100 and was 45 to program the key..theres a chip in the key that has to be programed to the car...Boy was I PISSED..a locksmith can make you a key if theres no security involved with the ignition..he can copy any lock as one key fits all locks and the ignition also. I know its been done on my buddies 2000 Yamaha r1...he made a key out of the lock to the rear cowl and it worked in the ignition also..hope all works out keep us posted

Call your dealership. They can hand you a key made for the series you have. Not too expensive, and likely cheaper than a locksmith.

Did you look to see if your keys were in the ignition already? (I know, dumb question but that is the last place most folks look. Please don't ask me how I know this!)

thanks everyone, I FOUND EM... i was bringing in gallons of distilled water, and tossed them off to the side cause i was tripping over shit, they were under a bunch of crap in my grow room... lol it came to me all of a sudden that they might be there.

fist off all - that sucks man, i just know it too damn well, got my keys always looked in my malibu - nother car i won't buy once more

no chance that they are in the trunk? i got my always looked in there...

if not, and you got that option to get a few doublicates -get em!!! they well worth it. if you got all the papers your dealership can order you a second set without a problem, you just pay for those - but my last CAA call cost me like 200 bucks - for that you get a second set for sure.
