Question Always A Gardener?

Hey people....

Smoked out and just wondering....

Have you all always been gardeners? Was mj the 1st thing you really grew? Or do you come from a gardening/farming background?

I'm asking because I'm very much a city guy. I never had a reason or desire to grow anything....well until...

Now, it's definitely one of my favorite things to do. I've taken it outdoors and have some really nice outdoor plants/flowers.

So...Have you guys always had a green thumb?

When I was a kid (9 or 10) I grew some radishes in the backyard in a bit of dirt the old man alloted to me.

That was the limit of my gardening experience when I joined GreenPassion. Basically, I didn't know diddly-squat..so, at gardening I was

From the time I knew I could legally have and grow my own medicine, I have been......rabid...about growing this Heavenly sent herb!

Learned a bunch this past year (My first grow was Aug 2007) and hope to continue that education till the day they toss my ashes in the river!

When I was a child (really little, like 2 or 3) they used to call me nature girl. I was the kid that had jars of insects in the milk box. I even kicked the milk man as he put my bugs in the sun and they all died! I was ticked and I still remember that. My mum says I was about 4 then.

My uncle that we lived with, with my aunt, and my mum, had a nursery stock business and was into propagation and breeding his own shrubs and trees, etc. He had a piece of land around the Holland marsh. We would go up every weekend and set to root new plants. I was still very young then, but I learned a ton, as kids do. Just like sponges.

Later, in my early teens and on, I was the gardener and chief fix-it with my mum, in our own home. I come from a single parent home. I started then reading and looking into organic gardening and such. By my mid 20's I had a double dug french intensive garden in my mum's suburban home. The whole back yard was garden, in raised beds, with compost piles, and lots of fruit bushes etc. When we moved out to the country it was what I had always wanted.

Now I have acres to do what I want on. ....and I do....LOL!

Peace

I grew up with gardening, veggies, landscaping etc.. Parents were always in the yard doing something, many of our meals veggies were straight from our garden. As I got older, I just carry on the tradition. I find it very relaxing to be out in the yard, tinkering in the garden or just setting up new flowerbed..

I tried to grow pot once over a decade ago, with not much luck indoors with incandescents, the wife at the time was a non-toker, so I could not justify spending loads of cash on HID's.. But now it's a different story the current (and last wife I hope to have..LoL) wife, we both love veggies, flowers, landscaping and best of all the MJ...

Peace,

Sock

I was born in a huge city so there was not much space for gardening but loved being around mother nature all the time.My parents bought a tiny patch of land at some point and my gardening adventure kicked off.the legal one of course The idea of growing MJ came to me some 4 years ago when I moved to UK and realised that nearly everyone around was growing pot.But what really pushed me into growing was the result of my friends' blood test that showed traces of amphetamine and heroin.I knew for a fact that my friend never used any of them so we realised that the pot we used to buy was cut with some doggy stuff.I thought it was kind of urban legend until then that street dealers mix weed with something but the evidence was there on the paper so we decided that the only way to protect ourselves was to start growing on our own.UK gave me an excellent opportunity and that`s how it began. My first grow was of the cheapest seeds I could get and it was Skunk 11.I had one lamp 125WBlue and got 200WRed later on but I used that 125W for majority of time not knowing anything about growing MJ.I used one long and shallow pot for 5 plants!!!!!!! I over watered them regularly, gave them wrong nutes, screwed up lighting cycle. But amazingly I managed to harvest something after 11 weeks of waiting and I was very proud of myself. The real passion kicked off then.If I managed to harvest a decent (so I thought then) smoke screwing up everything there was on the way, what would happen if I paid a bit more attention to it?I started reading and reading even more and every new grow was better and better. And now it seems I can easily live without the smoke but I know for a fact I can't live without my little garden
take care lads

when I was little my family was in upstate NY, near the finger lakes. we had 5 acres, mostly of forest and swamp. we had one large football-sized field of grass, and ever since i could remember my mom had a GIANT garden right next to it. many meals had something from the garden, be it veggies or apples from our trees. one year we went to Australia for a family trip. my mother (illegally as I might note) brought home some seeds of "Australian Squash" that she hid in her pocket. she planted these in the spring, and they spread like wildfire! took over a large part of the garden, making squashes the size of footballs! it produced so much we all got sick of squash in everything, and started leaving them at friends houses (on doormats, car seats, even in mailboxes) - whether they wanted them or not haha. i learned alot from my mother, continuing to help her as i grew and we moved to different areas on the east and west coast. in high school i used to grow salvia for my own use (unknown to my parents-I just told them my gf had given me a tropical plant :-P). finally when i came to college and got my own place after a few years i got to start my real passion - my green passion. and i dont plan on stopping. 'till death do us part mary jane. or until jail haha :-D
