Hi Jelly, Hows things going for you? I was thinking of what you were talking about on another thread, about the Bamboo thread. Is it like a very thin that you would use to make the doily or is it like the yarn.. You also talked about making the head wrap, will you be using the Bamboo material for it. I was wondering if you could show us a picture of what it's going to look like. I would love to see what you'll be doing, You have me thinking I'd get my crochet and knitting needles out, it's been a while now since I've relaxed enough to be able to sit and enjoy it. I'm going to either start making wraps, scarfs or maybe finish up the baby blankets I have waiting to be done, or I'd also like to get my sewing machine out and do something, I have a lot of material that I got recently for a fantastic price. It's an odd design so I don't really know what to do with it. Maybe make a few tote bags, I love collecting totes, but thats another hobby/addiction really..lol

Yes, Deb, the Bamboo string is small, like for doilies. Someone gave me three balls of it, all different colors. I held all three strands together and began crocheting. There won't be any pictures, as I've already ripped it back out! hahaha.
I could see early on, there wasn't going to be enough string. So now, I think I'm going to make a hat or beret or something... not sure yet. It might just be a scarf. hahaha.
The Bamboo string is soft like no other crochet string I've felt! This is the Aunt Lydia brand, but there are some others out there.

Well, now I'm thinking of just doing a beret. I saw a really neat pattern the other day in passing, and, of course, now can't find it. Lots of beret patterns, but not that one! Oh, well, it's my first beret, so I'll just use a simple pattern, or make one up...
Thanks for the interest, ladies!
I'm planning on getting some yarn I saw called Caron Soft and Simple, or something like that. It was at Walmart. Oh, that yarn is lovely!!! Anyway, I think my gal friends will get scarves for xmas. I usually don't do gifts, other than my kids and gr-kids, but I'm in a crochet-y (crotchety?) mood lately!!

Okay, ladies... my Bamboo Beret is done! Not too bad for my first try. I didn't use a pattern, but I based it on a doily pattern to start with, then faked it from there.
Hmmmm... trying to get the picture posted... let me try again. What am I doing wrong?
Oh, well, see it here: http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...ambooBeret.jpg

I added the pic for you Jelly...VERY nice!
When I got married I did not want a veil. So I made a gold snood instead, crocheted. My dress was more cocktail length, all champagne coloured lace, and it went well.
It was different, like me! LOL!

It looked very handy, but not very classy, imo. BUT, with your talent, you could make something not only classy, but beautiful and STEALTHY, to boot!
Let's see what you come up with. I can't wait!

I used to make leather pouches, that hung off a belt at your hip. NOT AT ALL like fanny packs. I hate those things! These where more like they used to where in pioneer times. I used it instead of a purse.
