The Pearl was such a great book...You have good taste Moonbiscuit
My favorite from John Steinbeck would have to be Of Mice and Men...sometimes I feel like Lennie The Red Pony was a good read as well.
My all time favorite is J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. My current favorite is John Grisham...A Time to Kill broke my heart and made me a fan all at the same time.

Thanks Moon, for reminding me of Orwell. Animal Farm depicts recent political "change".
The more things change, the more they remain the same. I can't tell the Republicans from the Democrats. They simply give the benefits to their respective rich supporters. Never to those who actually voted for them.

90% of fiction is abject truth.
Some of the greatest truths have been laced in fictions. Voltare's Candid, Animal Farm, ect.
I like steinbeck, but favorites??
I guess Shakespear, Voltare, Lord Byron, Fraud, William Blake,
Aldous Huxley, Kurt Vonnegut, Edward Albee, Friedrich Nietzsche,
Elmore Leonard, Jesse Stuart, Allen Ginsberg, .....
& many more.
