Any useful info around on Swazi Red?
I can't find a single grow report anywhere out there.
ANY grow data would be welcome, successful or not.

Hi there why don't you check it out at the source. Marijuana Seeds - Highest Quality Marijuana Seeds Online
They have some gr8t grow journals of all their strains and some very good growers too.
edit. You can also send an email to HGS and he will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I know it is a new strain but he would be able to help he responds very quickly and is very helpful.

Ya, I checked there, a few 'in progress' grows but thats it.
Not a lot of useful info on the web either.
Just lots of complaining about how hard the beans are to pop.

Swazi Red is a fairly new strain.I think Highgrade added it to store in May at the earlest. Its got an long flower time...I would fill up some jars before I would start Swazi Red.

Ok, when in doubt, BE-THE-SEED.
Lets see,
From Africa = big time hot and dry with an intense
short wet period. Well, I can do that.
So, 2 groups of 4 seeds.
Pre-soaked for 48hrs in COOL tapwater(70-72deg). Submerged that is.
Then the temp was raised to 84deg for 24hrs.
8 outta 8 were popped by the 4th day.
great.. I got room for 3 :(

I found this a while back on popping seeds and it works very good too.Take and make a glass of tea.Make it strong too.Let it sit and cool to room temp.Drop your seeds in it and put the glass in the refrigerator for 24 hours.Dont freeze them just cool them down. After 24 hours take the glass out rinse them off.Put them in the moisten papper towel and place them in a warm place in the dark.In about 2 days to 7 days they will pop. What that it does is like mother nature does, they fall off the plant and hit the ground winter comes and it's cold, spring comes and warms them up, they know it's time to pop and grow. The acid in the tea helps strip away the outer coating of the seed and lets the moisture get into the seed it's self.I have heard of putting them in a match box with a piece of fine sand papper and shaken them around so that it knocks off the outer coating too. Peace

OhOh.
These are all 5 days since the beans went into the dirt,
not sprouted, went into the dirt.
RomBomb = Romulan/Bonkers/Grapefruit cross.
Draco = 80% Indica
Swazi Red = OMFG!
I'm counting nodes already!
This morning, I'm sure it growled at me... | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to The HSIC For This Useful Post:

Just waiting for the kinks to work out here then I'll post some more pics.
Just to say you don't need to wait for Swazi Red to 'show' sex, its apparant 7 days in. Male will shoot up so fast you can almost see it grow.

Alrighty then...
First, I've been asked about the pots I always use, so..
I make these cus they are white but best is the slight
taper to the sides so at transplant time, they just slide
right out the bottom(was screw on top).
like so...
..and now its a screw off bottom.
While I'm at it, I'll also be using the following later.
Washed aquarium gravel in the bottom. | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to The HSIC For This Useful Post:

Gee! I wonder which is the male Swazi?
As you can probably tell I've been making its soon-to-be-ended-life
a living hell :>
But good things were learned from it!
This strain, well, does not like nutes or water.
I mean very little. 800ppm was burning the Swazi's.
It takes 1/3 the water that the others take.
Here we have a Swazi girl left and Draco girl right.
In the back are 3 GP Yo* cough cough *t
and the Swazi girl.
Even at 550ppm the tips are burnt!
Just waiting for the weather to cool a bit here before transplanting and
moving them into the closet.

Whoops. I guess that info might be helpful...
I start with yer basic filler.
To this I will add PyroClay3, Dolomite lime and worm castings,
a couple of squirts of water to seal and cook.
Because the Swazi is not very water tolerant, I will add more
perlite come transplant time.
Veg nutes are strictly Plant Products |

The males grow the classic ladder form, and just rocket
up, 8" in 5-7 days!!
Kinda cool not having to wait for a Sativa or forcing it to show.

Time for a quick transplant,
Unscrew the bottom...
Her own weight will drop it right out with no effort.
and into her new home.
No transplant shock, doesn't even know it was moved.
and now we wait for Santa...

Well, Its kinda like watching grass grow.
Talk about yer tough strains..
Actually forgot to add the dolomite to the mix
They went dormant and I couldn't figure out what was going on,
Checked the runoff YIKES!
Water going in was 6.8, coming out it was 4.4!
I still can't believe they lived!
Well, the Swazi male got a little yellow but kept right on going.
The Swazi girl just went to sleep. Stayed green. Thats her back right.
The GP's went a little yellow too. Back left and center.
The other experiments went roots up. Kind of expected with that PH.
The ones that count are coming along nicely though.
I actually got a pheno from the GPs so I'm not too sure what
it will end up like. (back left).
The male has served me well so its done after this message.
I have some more Swazi and some SourBubble germin' atm.
Another 30 days and I'll start the 2nd GP run.
