Default Six Strains To Use For...

Hello everyone! I prepping for my next grow and was hoping I could get some input or suggestions on some strains.

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm not a heavy smoker, so potency is not tops on my priority list in choosing strains, I'm more interested in the type of high a strain is likely to produce. I don't particularly like strains that are so potent as to render me useless or overwhelmed. If I'm smoking a sativa, I like a nice clear head and a comfortable rush of energy, nothing too edgy or psychedelic. In indica strains I look for a meditative head and a comfortable relaxing body stone that won't turn me into a heap of flesh lying on a couch.

I'm looking to grow six strains with the following uses:

1. Good clear sativa for uplifting the mood and getting things done.
2. Good cross for social activities like talking with friends or outdoor activities.
3. Good cross for mellow activities like enjoying some music or reading.
4. Good indica for insomnia.
5. Good hash oil strain.
6. A unique strain, something that any self-respecting cannabis lover should try at least once.

Here are my current choices with a bit of commenting on why I picked them. I would love to hear other suggestions or comments.

Stawberry Cough - Dutch Passion: I was drawn to this strain because I've heard it's a nice sativa for anxiety. As I mentioned, I like clean euphoric highs, not panic inducing rushes of energy.

Somango - Soma Seeds:
Sounded like a solid, mentally stimulating strain with some nice flavor attributes.

Lavender - Soma Seeds: I picked up on this strain because I've heard nothing but good reviews describing a nice mellow feeling that won't turn me into a rock.

Ortega Indica - Dutch Passion: I was looking for an indica to help with my insomnia. I don't normally trust breeder descriptions, but I was intrigued by their description of this indica as not having a cloudy "morning after" effect. So far I haven't found any grow or smoke reports on this strain.

Red Dragon - Barney's Farm: Was looking for a good strain for hash oil. The combination of Barney's Utopia Haze with a Kush background sounded like a good fit.

Western Winds (Kali Mist) - Sagarmatha Seeds: I've just heard too many great things about this plant to not want to try it. I'm particularly fond of sativas, and this one in particular I've heard offers a very unique soaring high.

Other strains I've been looking into:

Blueberry - Dutch Passion Version
Chocolope - DNA Genetics
Silver Bubble - Reserva Privada
Violator Kush - Barney's Farm
Purple Wreck - Reserva Privada
LA Confidential - DNA Genetics
Strawberry Blue - World Of Seeds Legends Collection

I very much appreciate any and all comments. Take care!

I bet you allready made your picks. I did not see your post sooner or I would have tried to help you out. For the record StrawberryCough taste and smells great but the buzz is weak. Somango, Lavender and KaliMist are top quality. So are your other 7 picks. Never tried SilverBubble, Ortega Indica or Red Dragon but the others are good picks. If you dont like edgy smoke stay away from Cinderella99. If you dont like it strong ViolatorKush, LA Con, Chocalope and PurpleWreck are not for you! Blueberry and StrawberryBlue are very relaxing and good for the end of day. KaliMist is a good up buzz. Lavender and Somango should be good social strains. Sorry it took so long to give a response. Take Care!

Thanks for the response OG Kushman, better late than never! I still haven't gotten around to buying my seeds yet, so I'll certainly take your suggestions to heart.

Cool. Glad I could help. Ill add a couple for you to think about since you are still considering! My favorite Sativa besides Jack The Ripper (It has Cindy99 in it) and one you might like is SuperSilverHaze. It has a nice taste and smell with a good up buzz. Its also long lasting and a very good yielder in or outdoors. Another good pick is GreenHouse Trainwreck. It yields better outdoors and my little lady says its great for depression. Makes you want to get up and do some stuff! The Dutchmans G-Force is another favorite. Its great for eating and sleeping disorders. First it makes you hungry and as long as you are doing stuff you are good but as soon as you relax you will find yourself taking a nap you had not planned on. Great taste smell and high. Good Luck with your picks. Keep us posted and Good Luck!
