Default Santa Marta Gold - Cherry Malawi and a unknown

I received a gift of four (yep..just 4) seeds of this strain. I am told it is a "Landrace" strain from (Columbia?). (can someone explain to me what the hell a "Landrace" strain is?)

Supposed to be one of the legendary Sativa's...????

I can't find much of anything on it (on the web)...anyone of you "old farts" heard of this, and know anything about how it grows? I need to grow it indoors, and keep it under 36" total height...(I was told it can do 15 FEET in height outdoors!)

Any info you can share would be appreciated.

BTW, also have about 10 seeds for something called Cherry Malawi and 10 more of a cross of Blue Mountain Jamacian X C-99 X Chololate Thai.

Any help or growing suggestions that anyone can offer will be met with a THANKS and some positive Rep!

ISO

Landrace is a term for locally grown established strain of marijuana that is naturally stabalized over a long period of time.....DJ short uses this term in this way in some of his articles....these plants were the orginal plants to make hybid strains in the 70s and 80s

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a mountain range in the Northwest of Colombia. It reaches an altitude of 5,700 metres above sea level, just 42 km from the Caribbean coast; it is the world's highest coastal range. The mountain range encompasses about 17,000 kmē and serves as the source of 36 rivers.

It is the perfect habitat for a huge variety of plants including cannabis and many strains have flourished there. For over 40 years now cannabis enthusiasts and American hippies have included Santa Marta on their South American marijuana trail and certain varieties have deservedly earnt a good reputation e.g. Santa Marta Gold, a yellowing indica dominant strain.

the santa marta gold is a strain from the late 60's to today if you can find someone traveling to santa marta and the way it got its name gold was becuase they dried it outdoors in piles that got turned from time to time till dry and useuly the sun bleached it to a goldan colar. being from the equator to help put her into full flowering and keep her from streaching as much she should be flowered at 11 hours as this is the closest to her natural flowering season at the equator they actualy have 2 flowering season's cuase they don't actualy get 12/12 down there all the time when the sun is highest for our summer they only get 11 hours and some odd minutes of sun and then the the opposit is the same also when the southern hempishere is at summer our winter then at the equator only gets around the same time.

but i always thought santa marta gold came from mexico as they named it after the town santa marta as in the old days they told the people more or less where it was grown ie santa marta oxcan or how ever that town was spelled and a couple others i can't rember now aday's but now aday's its just called mexican or brick weed so it's hard to tell where it actualy came from. also back in the 70's and early 80's a lot of people in the know where giving the mexican friends indica seeds to grow and breed into there sativa's

i saw an artical a few years ago where there was kind of a cannibas collage down in south america where they actualy paid off the local rebels or what ever so they didn't get messed with but long story short they had huge make shift tent/greenhouses set up where anybody could grow there pot and be kind of safe as long as they paid off the people but they had all kinds of dutch strains growing in there they used light to exstend the days till the plants got big enough to get a good yeild off of.

but more or less just like any seed you'll have to play around a lil to get her just the right height for your space. i find it easier when working with pure sativa's once you find out she is a girl take you some cuttings and flower her you will probably have to lst her or screen of green the mother plant and then grow the clones out i'd say no more then a week veg if that depending on how much she streaches you could grow out a clone with no veg time as soon as she starts growing put her to flower then put one to flower that has a week veg then one with 2 and so one till you find just the right size to flower her at. but if i rember right for me she was an easy strain to grow and i'd say could use alot of nutes hard to say though cuase back when i grew her there was only mircle-gro around or schults or scott's. hope that helps

sorry for rambleing on but been doing some post harvest scissor hash bowl's

Default santa marta gold

i googled santa marta mexico; it's on the eastern shore of the baja peninsula and is low land.

High Times in the old days talked about the santa marta gold/red (can't remember) as real great weed.

I thought the Colombian weed back then was real trippy & psychedelic
not sure about any Colombian Indica.

anyway post some pics of the babies so we see what the leaf looks like.
and save the male pollen to pollinate to preserve the strain (no matter what) with only 4 seeds
save the male pollen for breeding or crossing.
