The word get misused a lot. Substitute the word "trait" and, if it makes sense, you're using it correctly. Somehow, though, people tend to refer to individual plants as 'phenos'.

A phenotype is a trait expressed in genes and environment. For example, plants turning purple is a phenotype which comes from having the correct gene, and then is affected by the temperature the plant grows in. A plant with the purple gene will be "more purple" in a colder environment. But not every plant with that same gene, or genotype will look the same and have it manefest the same way.

"phenos" are used to describe plants which all have certain traits. For example, if you crossed Purple Afghani and Hindu Kush (purple kush) some of them would be identified as the, "purple phenos" because they more readily turn purple in flowering.

Ya I'm With Micheal, "PhenoType" Is Misused Alot To Just Describe A Beautiful Plant, I Think A Better Way To Put Or Describe A Strains Characteristics Is "Gene Traits".

choosing the best mother plant to preduce cannabis cutting requires finding
the right phenotype from your batch of seeds. That why use want to use
gentically good seeds in a pack of 10 their could be up to 3 or more differnt
phenotypes in a pack, you have to look for the charestics that you want.

Default The Cannabis Breeder's Bible

Taken from the "The Cannabis Breeder's Bible":

Phenotype:
The phenotype is the summary of all of the features you can detect or recognize on the outside of your plant, including color, smell and taste.

Genotype:
The genotype is the genetic constitution of your plant, as distinguished from the phenotype. The genotype characterizes how your plant looks from the inside. It is the summary of all the genetic information that your plant carries and passes on to its offspring.
