Any cross breed will through off one or the other, and I have had this happen as well. Hang tight someone will chime in. It takes quite a few generations for something to only have one trait, eg. indica / sativa. I don't know as much as other members so just chill till they get here.

Peace

madmax,

r u sure that the seeds are from a quality source...assuming that they are, jangle is correct that different traits in a hybrid will show up....each type is a phenotype...a fancy word for all the physical types that can show up from a cross....for example with mazar I get mostly fat low plants but I get an occasional columnar shape. it is a phenotype that results from a recessive trait (you get some genes for each trait from both parents, often they don't blend but rather one trait tends to dominate over a trait called recessive trait and will show up much less often and usually only in the second generation of crosses [so called f2 seeds]) that is about the best I can do w/o going more into genetic than is fun most people...anyway hope this answers the question and if not, write again and someone else will take a stab at it.

well sometimes purple stems are traits, but from my knowledge a few HGS strains stems go purple when their over watered and/or phosphorus deficient

V0ssman is correct in stating that. What do you have it planted in? Is it root bound? What are you feeding it? I will post a link to a chart so you can look it up to see if it is deficiant in something.

Brussels got it spot on as well, as that pot is way too small for the top growth you have. Needs potting up badly. I am sure if you look you will see tons of roots coming out the bottom. It needs a major big pot up.

Here you go.

Max,

i would not be too worried about it. i do not have experience growing many various strains like SD but my current strain ICE (in Hydro) has purple stems as well. always has and most likely always will. i think it has something to do with the phenotypes of the original strains that were used to make whatever strain that is, like Scott said. I have also read that if your temps get in the lower range it can cause color changes in the plant and buds.

My Ice has 2 thick purple stripes that run down its entire stem as well as totally purple stems on mostly all of my fan leaves. Your plant does look more indica dominant but due to the actual size of the leaves (not the thickness) i would say there is def some percentage of a sativa in those genes somewhere. im sure you will be happy with it regardless. Nice job. Do yourself a favor though, follow the advice from the other soil growers here. REPOT!!!!!!!!! ASAP.

Ice

although i don't have any good pics of this my female actually showed purple stripes on its main stem about a week before flower. the male didn't show anything similar, hope that helps a little.

Last year I grew some pot in my garage. The seeds were just some buget bud street smoke. One of the plants was male. I figured that out too late though. Once I realized its sex ,I took it outside and BURIED it in the dirt, well at least its roots. LOL I just wanted to see how big it would get. I let it grow all summer. It got about 4 1/2" tall. The point of all this is that ,it turned PURPLE. COMPLETLY PURPLE. I have never seen a purple plant, but it was. The whole plant, every stem, and leaf. All the pollen pods, everything. My buddies didnt belive what they saw either. The polenated females got a little purple in them, but I was harvesting buds too early , so none had a chance to ripen and turn what ever color they would have. I tried to harvest and germinate the seeds, but like I said the buds were immature. Im not sure what point Im trying to make just wanted to share my experence with growing something purple. Sorry I never took a pic of the plant.

I have a variety that is called Lethal Purple and it is supposed to also turn purple in the fall. Some of the leaves are starting to turn now. I will take shots next time I go and see the girls.
