Rep Power: 134 | | Growing & Breeding Pure Landrace Strains
I would like to begin this thread in an effort to compile a list of seed banks that carry Pure Landrace Strain seeds. I also am very interested if others might have experience obtaining and breeding these strains.
This is all new to me as I'm just beginning to legally grow Marijuana.
While I am eternally grateful to be able to grow just about any strain, my interests lean towards 'getting back to the basics' by obtaining and eventually breeding the various Pure Landrace Strains.
If you know of a seed bank or other way of garnering specific seeds such as this, please post up a link or any further information you might have.
Also needed is the particular environments necessary to be replicated in conducting this type of breeding program.
I hope many will contribute to this thread.

I understand it would be wonderful to find people who live in these various countries and have them ship locally-produced seeds.
I've only communicated once with somebody from Jamaica on the Internet, he doesn't partake in marijuana but goes on and on about how beautiful the wild-growing plants are all around his house. He says he lives within sight of that Blue Mountain area. I once sent him an e-mail asking if he wouldn't mind collecting some seeds for me but, I never heard back from him on that issue so I dropped it.
I've seen many sites that advertise seeds of which the landrace have been crossed with something more widely known as a means of enhancing the strain. I too would like to give this a try and see what results I might obtain.

if you know someone thats going to travel etc.
its not easy and for some reason i dont trust seedbanks to do that type of work for me.. dont ask me why but my sixth sense kicks in,...
but this is just me. im anal that way. there are quite a few seedbanks claiming landraces.. seedman seeds.. and world seeds. GHS claims a few as well but i wouldnt trust em as far as i could throw em.. and suposedly afghan 1 is a stabalised afghan landrace strain. but again.. i dont know..
i guess i just mistrust seed dealers as much as i mistrust dope dealers.

Perhaps there are those in this community who could assist in garnering these strains for an internal breeding program on behalf of GreenPassion patients ?
Or perhaps it's just another unfulfilled dream of mine ?
I guess I'll just have to trust that whatever seeds I might be able to find and buy are as promised. cannabis seeds - Seedsman Cannabis Seeds World Of Seeds - cannabis seeds Green House Seed Co. Amsterdam Creators of Champions Since 1985 - Design by 2IFX.com
Thanks !

it's nice to see sometimes with google's results that people are still thinkink that the cannabis industry is totally in the wrong way ..... thank you so much .
in eleven years i have grown more than 100 f1 from the cannabis industry ,indoor ,outdoor ,clones ,hydro ,soil... spanish climate who allows to grow very different cannabis strains ,from the ruderalis hybrids harvested in june to the pure sativa harvested 15 december out.
due to my ecological studies i was really very interested firsts years of growing in the strains who were utilised to create those f1 ,so i grew pure(not pures lol) hazes from holland ,afghanis ,kushs, and skunk .
this was the base to understand the constitution of this hybrids .
in 1998 i read a book where they were talking about depression in cannabis genepool.
knowing all the details of the hybrids constitution i began to preserve the landraces seeds that were not preserve at this time .
my idea was that frenches had connections in the whole world due to the pasts colonisations .
so i began to tell to all my f friends travellers to collect seeds for me .
after 10 years of collecting my list of p1 is :
senegal ,congo, ghana, moroccan, martinik, guadeloupe,st vincent ,la reunion ,caledonian ,madagascar, bolivian, peruvian, jamaican, nepal, leban ese, turkish.
differents south indians .
i must forget some of them ...
what is interesting to answer is the hybrid part of your question .
i concentrate my work since long time in crossing this landraces between them, and only them ,never a gene from a strain worked as a commercial intention weight ,precocity, resistance)
papouasian new guinea x nepal and zamal from la reunion island x nepal are the test grow this summer in landraces hybrids .
i'm finishing a hybrid between 4 pure sativas landraces to obtain a new neville's haze style ,but mine )
i've done la reunion x st vincent x bolivian , i need a last male to begin stabilisation .
to answer to your last question : i don't like any of the bank existing ,they do so poor things ,really ,nothing with passion in this industry ....
but if you search landraces go to the real seed company ,bsc (brazilian seed company) , never buy :world of seeds!!!! ,afropips !!!
i hope i have helped you by my answer .
if you want pics or to talk more you can contact me ;)
i'm french so really sorry for my english vocabulary ,it's poor ,
but passion is here ;)

| Sounds incredible, thanks for the interest.
It seems you and I share a passion !
Yes, I would like to talk with you more on this issue.
I am looking to begin my breeding program with these strains. Mazar e Sharif landrace Ethiopian Highland landrace African Swazi Red landrace Nepalese landrace
A four-way cross would give me, M.E.A.N. ;>}
Hey these seed companies are just what I've been looking for, thanks ! http://www.therealseedcompany.com/ http://fritzman.br.tripod.com/BSC/id1.html

Rep Power: 0 | | Now this thread will have me. My search has been going since 1976! I have some Haze plants outside this year that may get rather interesting but nothing close to a good Landrace strain yet.Dammit! I'm like ileso , I dont really trust these Landrace and several other sativa strains for sale. Going abroad is in my immediate plans trust me. Might not be Landrace but Columbia is definately gonna be a stop.LOL Geez thank you for this thread I will really be watching. Med

Rep Power: 0 | | Almost ANYONE can grow an Indica or I/S blend. When it comes to these babies there is a certain degree of both skill and enjoyment. You have to practice serious patience and dedication to learning that plant and becoming a part of it. The plant and Gardener have a VERY close relationship with each other. It's hard to explain it's not like just ploppin a seedling in the ground or a container and hittin it with some lights or the Sun and growin some buds. This TO ME is alltogether different. This is like a freakin "marriage" to me.LOL Peace, Med P.S. I am a self proclaimed "Space Cadet" though so take that into account.

as said before it is easy to grow indicas or i/s hybrids ,but it can be easy too to grow pure lndraces sativas ...if you've got the right conditions .
in my location (40 ° north latitude and mediterranean climate),longest day is 21 june ,15h 30 of light .
if i do nothing my sativas begin flowering at 12/12 always (except few autoflowering sometimes who are shorter, but not the rules ,they are the exception ).
12/12 is the 21 september ,and they need 16 weeks or 4 months to flower fully .
i repeat in my location i can keep plants alive until 10 or 15 december .
21 september to 15 december is less than 3 months .
so the technic i do since many years now ,is to take clones ,to begin flowering indoor on 12/12 during one month from 20 august to 21 september and after they finish out until the end
20 august to 15 december is almost 16 weeks ,but remember outdoor the days decrease so they don't need 4 months ,just 3 and a half due to last month in 9h30/15h30.
other choice is to begin with "indica" landraces as moroccan ,turkish ,lebanese and some nepaleses, this 4 strains are around 65 days of flowering, and easy to grow
from friends to the african seed company owner i still got ethiopian highland as you man ;)
ok ok i was just here to post a few pics of landraces
not monsters ,i cannot do that i have not the place ,it's possible to grow mini plants from giants plants
caledonian can easily reach 4 or 5 meters ,but it's possible to finish a clone with good conditions at 60 centimeters ;)
so hope you like the few pics ,and good luck for your work .

have you read subcools threads? a few of the posts go into some detail regarding breeding methodology. in a much simpler way than i ever could. anyway. its a great read, and it will give you a few very good pointers as to how to go about things. ... with pictures, hehehe

I'm not sure how well this picture will show up but, I took a few photo's and wanted to show the growth and structure of these seedlings so far.
I find the Nepali fascinating as the first leaves are true leaves while the Mazar looks like every other seedling I've seen before.
I made this montage 24 x 12 to show the differences, I hope it will be viewable.

So far I only have one Mazar seedling, I only have a few of those seeds and want to save them until I know what this one will turn out to be.
I won another auction at Seedbay for some Ethiopian Highland landrace, 12 seeds for $24.
So we will see how those turn out hopefully soon.
