Default Are femenized seeds worth the money?

I'd like to hear your opinion on:

Are femenized seeds worth the money?

Please indicate if you've ever actually bought them before, the breeder,, and your experience with those seeds.

If you have never used fem seeds, but have an opinion, please, still voice your opinion here, but state it is an opinion, based on your feelings/thoughts.

Yes Dursky, that is exactly whay DP claims. According to what I have seen, they are a little more consistant in the growth pattern, less variations. Of course Mazar is very stable in it's non femenized version already.

I think alot of research has to be done prior to buying, to learn about the specific breeder.

I think feminized seeds are not worth the money at all. Use your head here. You pay say $80 for ten seeds where about half will be male and half female. So you take the best male and pollinate the best female and then you have 100's of high quality seeds where half of those will be female. So for $80 you can guarantee a lifetime supply of that strain as long as you continue to make some seeds every so often.

Now for say $250 you get 10 feminized seeds, all of which are female with maybe one or two hermies. Sure, you can clone them, but what if you have an accident and kill your mom or clones? Then you are done with that strain until you buy more seeds. To breed seeds from hermaphrodidic plants is just a waste in my opinion, unless you enjoy searching each bud for 7th week bananas.

I guess what I think is, hermie seeds are not worth it and clones need constant environment to survive. If you can make some seeds and store them properly, you will have genetics for years and years. Maybe if the feminized seeds were only like $10-$20 more, but the cost/benefit analysis of the current prices just doesn't add up in my thrifty-nickle brain.

I havent had the $$$ yet, but I think it would be worth for genetics like "Big Bud", "Mazar", and "white rhino"

I think alot of the replys, have alot to do with where they purchased the fem seeds from.

For a fair comparison, lets use mazar, which I've grown many times before. about $55.00 for ten normal seeds, or $122 for ten fem seeds.

Thats about $5.50 per (normal) seed, double that price, as half will be males, and your at $11.00 per plant. Compare that to $12.20 per fem seed.

So for a final (additional) cost of only $1.20, I dont have to waste my time, my nutrients or soil on a bunch of males. Not to mention I have a better phenotype.

Now have I over simplified this scenario, yes and no.

The problem here is, I've chosen to go with the masters of femenized seeds, dutch passion, and to choose one of there most stable strains also. A double bonus.

Choosing a strain from a lesser breeder, will most likely provide lesser results of course.

I am about to experiment with a femenized version of Medi bud from http://www.marijuana-seeds.nl/medi-bud-seeds.html
Will I get simular results? I don't know yet, but I'll be sure to keep you all informed.

Alot of fem seeds are hermies, and will produce hermies, but not all, you need to do your homework.
