| hi all, ive got this THING, thats been in my head for years now.. does anyone remember the ABC x FLO that M Emery gave out with CC a few years ago? it was a strain/mutant from australia dubbed Aussie Barstard Cannabbis... what i want to know is, has anyone had ANY form of contact with it? I know alot of seeds were given out at the time for experimentation , but theres no news.. just nothing.. it dissapeared. anyone? i remeber a journal a few months ago that i found a guy that had good results but i cant find it again... i was using a computer at work and i dumped the historial of my browser. its like a crusade for me.. i remember i just missed out on getting my own at the time... so ... hummm? please.. someone.. no? and i dont mean the DUCKSFOOT strain either, i mean the real ABC.. with the tiny leaves, looks like a ... weed. | ||||||||

| here is more backround for others who may want to look around Aussie Bastard Cannabis Redux by Dana Larsen and Volcano (13 Jun, 2005) Breeding experiments with the ultimate camouflage strain In 1999 Cannabis Culture reported on a strange new strain of marijuana (CC#19, Grow Down Under), which had a very different appearance and growth pattern than normal pot. We were introduced to this strain by Mr Ayers, who had come across it as an outdoor grower in Australia. He reported that although it lacked in potency, the strain was incredibly hardy and frost-resistant, and unrecognizable as cannabis without close examination (CC#27, Aussie mutant update). The structure is quite different than regular cannabis. There are no fan leaves, all leaves are quite small with an irregular distribution of stamens. The plant grows more like a shrub, without the typical candelabra shape of most cannabis. We dubbed this new variety Australian Bastard Cannabis (ABC), and we gave away many seeds to interested breeders, as well as giving away a large batch of ABC x Flo. We hoped that inspired breeders would find a way to combine the potency of the Flo with the camouflage and hardiness of the ABC.We received feedback from readers who claimed to have encountered this strain before. One Australian grower told us that the ABC was known as Mutant, and that some thought it might be a "colchicine polyploid experiment gone wrong." Colchicine is a mutagen which is used to produce strange polyploid effects, and so could possibly explain the plants odd leaf structure and characteristics. Of the many ABC x Flo crosses which we distributed, the vast majority lost the ABC look. Some breeders reported that the ABC x Flo had the Flo appearance and potency, but nevertheless seemed hardier than the straight Flo, indicating that some of the ABC toughness had been passed on to the cross. One local horticulturalist named "Volcano" grew out some of our last batch of ABC x Flo seeds. He germinated the seeds in a greenhouse in BC during March. "I germinated at 70F (21C) between two plates on moistened paper towels. I placed the plates on top of a florescent fixture to provide bottom heat, and checked every day to ensure the paper towels stayed moist and to supply fresh air to seedlings. The seeds had all germinated in seven to ten days."Once the root hairs showed, I planted them using Sunshine Mix #4. I started all the seedlings in 4 inch pots, and the first leaves showed up in about 10 days." Volcano said the first set of leaves looked identical to regular cannabis, and it wasnt until the first true leaves appeared that differences became evident. "Those leaves came out completely unlike the serrated leaf," said Volcano. "In fact, there are no serrated edges on these leaves. They are darker green, shiny and succulent looking - they usually got no larger than two inches." Volcano reported that the plants grew quickly, requiring re-potting as they increased in size. "A cannabis-like smell was evident when leaves were rubbed," he added. "On April 1, I put the pants into a 4' x 8' cold frame outdoors. I watered with collected rain water and used organic compost teas used as fertilizer."The males flowered early, some before the end of July," reported Volcano. "The females were compact with short internodes. They were heavily branched with many leaves. The buds formed differently on each plant, but they were all very resinous with cannabis-like buds. But nevertheless, the mature plant does not look like cannabis." The plants reach an average height of about three feet. "With fuller exposure to sunlight, they would have gotten much bigger," added Volcano. The plants were harvested in November, trimmed and hung to dry. "I got an approximate yield of three dry ounces per plant," said Volcano, "and I was also able to harvest seeds for next year!" Volcano shared his ABC x Flo harvest with the gang at CC. The buds smoked clean, with a light, spicy flavor. The high was Sativa-like, soaring and euphoric, stronger than we had expected. This is definitely a strain worthy of further experimentation and breeding. With further effort, ABC could become the ultimate camouflage strain of the new millennium! ![]() | ||||||||

| IDK about that Ileso, it seems like it was a strain that was weak without crossing it and it seems like the crossed offspring favored the non-ABC parent - if there was a great decoy strain around you would think someone would have cashed in on it by now...but I for one will keep lookin' | ||||||||

| i know what you mean, but, the genetics exist, so therefore the potential is there. almost all week strains can be inproved, ant there are a few traits that can be useful. like the uncarecteristic leaves and the frost resistance. can you imagine a strain that could grow further north than any other current strain excluding ruderalis which is proven to be crap. there is one guy that has it, on another site, hes hoarding the genes to himself and showing off the stuff on the site, but he has proven a few things.. 1 the traits dont dissapear after 10 years of breeding 2 it must be worth it cause hes still at it 10 years later 3 it can be 'upped' in terms of quality. 4 if hes still got it then there must be others more willing to share the genes thats what i want to find out, the last point. | ||||||||

| very clear logic there ileso...indesputable....I hope you find your ABC and can blend it with some of those good old strains you have to make the next big thing!! Have you considered using a mutagen like cholcechine(sp?) or geberelic acid(sp?)...I don't encourage it, just wondering if it is a thought as that is how some believe the original ABC was created Last edited by scott06; 08-05-2008 at 09:54 PM. | ||||||||

| yeh i know, i actually have thought about colchicine, but, im notr sure if its the way to go. i hear its dangerous stuf, and ive also read about ABC being a colchicine mutant, i dunno. theres a guy FET or DIZZY who has stabilized the stuff... maybe one day they ll let it loose, hopefully before the cops catch on, and steel their stock. now that would be a loss. i should know. something similar happened to me. of course ill keep experimenting, and breeding. ive got cool genetics, bolivian, vietnamese, and im waiting on some colombian santa marta... fun stuff. thing is, i really cant believe someone will just keep it to themselves and not let it loose on the world... that not the stoner way. | ||||||||
