Hello my Friends and welcome to my new grow journal.
First of all I'd like to say thank you to Jangel for encouraging me to start this journal we all need a gentle push now and then I believe so here we go...
I've made some changes to my grow space since the last time.I expanded my garden and made another space for cloning.I got tired of growing from seeds all the time.yes, the whole grow is going to take a bit longer now but I'll benefit from having constant supply of clones from strong mothers.so the first chapter of that journal is going to be a quest for some good mums
I had some seeds left after the last grow - AK-48 and Bubblelicious and I ordered some new ones - Papaya and Aurora Indica. All seeds came from Nirvana.
I germinated 5 seeds of each type and had no problems with Ak,Bb and P. Aurora was different - only one seed from that lot germinated and I had to try to germinate another 5.eventually I got only 5 seedlings from 10 seeds and only 3 of them kept growing.sad :(
there's currently 18 plants growing in my garden.Ak and Bb are doing fantastic, P and AI ...well...so so....It's their 2nd week of veg (I don't count the first week from seed ).
and here comes the first question about cloning.I've never done it before and I don't know when to start.I'd like to determine plants' sex as quickly as possible to remove males.the problem is all the plants I have are Indica dominant and don't grow long branches.can I take cuttings from bottom branches when they're about 2-3 inch long? as I say I just need to check their sex.I'd be gratefull for some directions.
I'll post some new pictures (oooh yeeees!!!!) later on in the evening.
Friends...defy the Winter with your indoor gardens!!!! let it grow!
all the best Bubblelicious/AK-48 grow |

Hey Raf! Good start on this sweetie! Isn't this fun? I have to get my cloning skills improved as well sweetie, and have made myself a little bubble cloner. Take a look at my journal to see it. Pretty ghetto but hey, it should work and this is doable for anyone, anywhere. Not my idea though. The alterations to it are though.

Hiya Raff, Saw your journal with the cloning question about the bottom branches. Leave your plants in Veg, and yes right now you can take clones from the bottom branches 2 or 3 inches of branch will clone well. Once your clones have rooted and you've transplanted into your grow medium. (meanwhile, mum is still vegging) Put one of the clones from what may be her mum into flower. Yes it will be a small one but it will go into flower. Once you find she is a SHE take the little clone out of 12/12 and back into veg, 16-18/8-6. She may catch up to her mum and you'll be able to flower all of them at the same time. Or save her for the next crop or to perpetuate her strain. G'Luck with the cloning.

Jangel, Nimbliez, guys thank you very much for your quick response and your help.much appreciated, really. I'm going to build bubble cloner (Jangel, your setup is fantastic, simple and beautiful ) tomorrow,av got moreover everything I need except airstone but it can be sorted very quickly in the morning.I can't wait to start cloning Nim, you've made my day with your answer, thank you very much . I need to speed up sexing my plants as it seems that even expanded space is not enough for them any more good
I'll update tomorrow when I'm finished with the cloner.

Here is hoping for a fruitfull and bountifull clone(s). The trick to cloning is 'patience' . The funny thing about that is.... it only takes a thimble full.
g'Luck

Raf, Just took a gander at your clone setup, SWEET!! Now don't forget to open the humidity pouch up a couple times a day, just to air a little, also give you the opportunity to check the little ones out for roots, and/or the development of mold. Gotta keep an eye out for mold.... nasty stuff. Other than that rock on dude.

Nim, thanks a lot, am trying to do my best and am learning from the true Masters you're right about the mould...I fight it all over my house, even took a break from growing to paint all the walls with some kind of anti-mould stuff...last year I had to bin a whole lot of my clothes cos I got mould inside of my wardrobes :( apparently that's the beauty of living in Ireland...rain,rain,rain....and air humidity around 90% all the time
Jangel flower, here it is for you it's humble in size but it's just to test the waters and the next one will be mighty or at least I hope so thanks for everything luv.

Looks good Raf, sweetie. If you are worried about mold, do not cover them up with that dome other than for a day or so. I have nothing over mine to keep the moisture in, the humidity is 50% or lower in my room and they are fine so far. I have found when rooting in a medium, (peat pellets, rapidrooters) the dome keeps them moist for longer, and drying out kills them. Plus it is a perfect breeding ground for mould. But doing it in the water like this, seems to keep them hydrated and all are still perky even after a few days. I have also put a heating pad on low under the container to warm the water a bit. Just never get it wet if you want to live long! LOL! A fish tank heater can do this as well, if it is a small one. Depends how warm your room is. Mine can get chilly so I am trying to keep them at a uniform temp.
Your clones look a lot healthier than mine did going in so I don't even think you need to be wished good luck, but GOOD LUCK anyway, my friend.
Thank you for showing me!
Peace

just a quick update...I'm left with 6 plants...
13 plants have already declared their sex - males!I didn't even need cloning...
well...I don't have Bubblicious anymore...only one AK, 2 Papayas and 3 Auroras...and still...only 1 P and 1 AI are females for sure...I'm waiting for the rest to decide...in the meantime I got 10 feminised seeds of TrainWreck from Greenhouse and began soaking them in water today.
I'm very very disappointed with the number of regular seeds that turned out to be males...I know that feminised seed can turn hermies but still...
ok,sorry for that chaotic update, next one should be better.
take care good people |

Hello Jangel, how are you flower.
thank you very much for this chart,I'll use it next time I go for regular seeds.
I find regular seeds much more "user friendly" in terms of the whole grow process but I'm soooo disappointed now with my lads.it's simply not what I was counting for.that's why I got feminised seeds.
let me take this opportunity to ask you something about cloning.I'm clearly doing something wrong because more and more of clones' leafs started turning yellow.they're one week old and showing no roots.I sprinkle them with water few times a day and keep dome opened all the time.but something is wrong...could you help me with that one, please.
here's some pictures of clones and my last 6 plants
thank you once more.
