from what iv read going 10 hours for the first week to get a jump on the flowering is ok.. but after that any less than 12 hours and u are at risk of stressing and therefore chancing hermies. like i say just what iv read, no real experience.
if you want to save on power ,,veg time is better ...18/6 instead of 24/0.
2h a day savings at 1000w is 60kwh a month or about 6 dollars
not worth smokin or picking out seeds for 6 dollars a month.just my opinion
see in veg time its going to be 18 dollars a month.
all based on 10 cents a kwh and 30 day month

3-6 weeks after turning back the lights, your plants will be covered with these white pistils emerging from every growtip on the plant. It will literally be covered with them. These are the mature flowers, as they continue to grow and cover the plant. Some plants will do this indefinately until the lights are turned back yet again. At the point you feel your ready to see the existing flowers become ripe ( you feel the plant has enought flowers), turn the lights back to 8-10 hours. Now the plant will start to ripen quickely, and should be ready to harvest in 2-3 weeks. The alternative, is to allow the plant to ripen with whatever natural day length is available outside, or keep the plants on a constant 12 hour regimen for the entire flowering process, which may increase yield, but takes longer.

Well I was given this tidbit yesterday :
"Molasses is a chelate not a chelating agent. Chelate contains trace nutrients and cofactors for enzymatic activity. A chelating agent removes divalent cations(cofactors like Mg2+, their native state). Ever heard of heparin or an anticoagulating agent, those are chelating agents they remove divalent cations from the blood to render enzymes inactive and thus the enzymes involved(coagulation factors) can't do their job and clot blood. If molasses was a chelating agent and you used it the microbial activity would slow down and could possibly even brought to a halt.
Probably should add this, basically a chelating agent in your rootzone microenvironment will eat up the cofactors needed for enzymes the microbes use to break down the oraganics to useable form. A chelating agent would slow down the nutrient release. That's why farmers use small amounts of chelating agents, to slow the break down of the nutrients in the soil because it may be too fast for the plant to utilize and just be leached off or become toxic. If you had a plant that takes nutes up fast like MJ you really wouldn't want to do that because you would then be causing defs.
"
Maybe that is why my plants became unresponsive these last weeks...? Seem to be quicker than my other grows and I was pumping it to them, also. I feel I need to research further on molasses.
Peace.

Well, It pains me to say this. I found mutations on all my plants. Male sacs were very small, on the lower branches, look to have released a week or two after pollenation from my male BB (think that was week 3 or 4 when I pollenated). So my seeds are a mix match of who knows what. One good thing the colas look to be fairly free from seed. I was wondering why so many seeds...thought I just got a little carried away. I really feel there wasn't very much stress going on until these last three weeks. I dunno. I still have some original seed leftover...I'll see what I will get from them also. There will be no more updates to this grow. Thanks for watching everyone.
Peace. Sex Abnormalities and Mutations |

From the link above that I gave "Predominantly female flower showing a male projection." second picture... I'm guessing they started around week 3-4 of flower, from the age of remenets of the pollen sacs, related to the time it seemed more seeds were growing. These were only (so far) located on the main stem of the branch, lowest branches, lowest internodes, very very small, didn't notice them until I was trimming the buds.

I like to slow dry in a oven, warm setting or lower. I've done the steam dryed microwave method, it also works well.
Peace.
