Rep Power: 82 | | Welcome to my garden
Welcome to my garden. Please remove your shoes, and accept these complimentary slippers and sunglasses.
General Specs: I veg under a 400 watt MH light, with overflow (I sometimes bite off more than I can chew) going under a bunch of compact flouros that I've accumulated. I use ProMix as a soil, and use a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers. I reuse my ProMix a few times, then it gets composted and eventually used in my yard.
I germinate using a 24 hour soak, then seeds go into wet filter paper and a Ziploc bag. After seeds pop, they are planted first in small yogurt cups. After a week or so they go into party cups, then 2 or 3 gallon pots. Final transplant is into 5 gallon buckets where they stay until harvest. I like to keep my plants in as small a container as possible along the way so that I can control their watering/feeding tighter than I otherwise could.
I flower under a total of 1,000 Watts HPS; using a 400 watt light in a homemade hood, and a 600 watt light in an air cooled hood. My air cooled hood is hooked up to a Dayton blower. A second Dayton drives a charcoal filter and exhausts to outside. Oscillating fans are used as needed to circulated air and maintain temperatures.
CURRENT GROWS
Now at day 25 of 12/12 I have seven Brains Damage (KC Brains). They were germinated and vegged nicely. The two nicest females had cuttings taken and rooted. This is my first attempt using Brain's beans and so far I am happy. I have a pack of Spontanica sitting around that will go in the spring. Here they are----(please excuse the HPS yellow)---The first group shot is under my 400W HPS, second group is under 600W HPS.
In veg, I have clones that are rooted and in party cups. They are Sour Diesel x Purple Urkle from seeds that I got in trade with another grower. I need to get them out of their cramped party cups and into some 3 gallon pots soon. Doing the math, I see that I will not be done flowering the Brains Damage in time to flower the SDxPU, so I will do the first few weeks of 12/12 under my metal halide light, which I like to do anyway.
This is Norman. (S)he is vegging along nicely. A friend (named Norman) gave me a bag of some decent weed as a thank you for something I did. (Norman doesn't know I grow) In the bag was a seed. I could not resist germinating it and it has been a strong grower, with nice structure. I expect preflowers any day, so I'll see.
Last I have some generic Kush. Seeds are from my nephew. He and a friend ordered beans but their situation changed and they could not do anything with them. They gave them to me. Germination was touchy, with only 5 outa 10 germinating. I guess we'll see what happens here.
Well, that's a little peek into my garden. I will update every week or so. Hopefully I'll have a bountiful harvest. | | The Following 14 Users Say Thank You to 420oclock For This Useful Post: | Deb-HAS-grn (03-26-2009), freetolive (01-21-2009), Hatch (01-22-2009), Jakhama_2_mcmetz (04-16-2009), jangel (01-21-2009), justplainbill (01-21-2009), LitmyPalma (03-21-2009), maximummax (04-10-2009), Mr Tumnus (08-16-2009), natural lady (03-21-2009), SomeDude (03-21-2009), tokecrazy (01-21-2009), werexallxdead (04-14-2009), Zuke (04-10-2009) |

Thanks for stopping y'all! The shorter Brains Damage are those under the 600 watter. The three taller ones are identical but are under a 400 watt lamp. Although the 600 watt plants are shorter, they will produce more/bigger/heavier buds.
Pest control is a toughie. I use sticky traps to monitor fungus gnat numbers. If the numbers are significant, I use mosquito dunks. In between grows I use a premise spray; I really dose the room well. Really the only problems I've had have been gnats, and they are always there to some degree.

Well, I had a few minutes today so I transplanted my SourD x Purple Urkle into three gallon pots. I will probably just keep them in these pots to flower (I usually flower in 5 gallon buckets) since I am a little jammed up. I tend to germinate too early, and by the time I have rooted clones my flower room isn't ready.
Guess I'll veg them another week, then go to 12/12 under my 400 watt MH.
Here are the SourD x Purple Urkle:
No definate female preflowers on Norman yet, though things look promising. It'll be nice to see lil white pistils popping soon.
I'll update again in about 10 days. I'm leaving tomorrow for a week in the Caribbean. Hopefully my autopilot will perform well in the grow rooms once again!! | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to 420oclock For This Useful Post: | |

Hi all. I am back from 10 days in the Caribbean. I returned to snow, ice, frigid temps, and a business that needed attention. But, at least the garden was happy. Last winter I was away for 15 days, and my plants did fine, so this year was a breeze.
First, the Brains Damage. They are suffering a bit from low nitrogen levels. Next time I grow this strain I'll adapt. They are on day 40 of flowering. From what I've read, people flower this strain anywhere from 50 to 70 days. I'll have to start looking with my microscope this week.
Under my 600 watt hps:
Next to them, under 400 watts:
And in the veg room, I have eight Sour Diesel x Purple Urkle clones in a holding pattern. I will veg them a bit more, then start their flowering under the metal halide until my Brains Damage is harvested.
And I have a bagseed plant that I've been calling Norman. Still no preflowers. I'm hoping. Usually when I do not see preflowers by 6 weeks in veg, they are female. I tied Norman down.
And then there are my generic Kush. Seeds are from a friend, and the original source is unknown, so we'll see.....
Well, that's it for now. More pics in about a week!!!

Cool! Let's see if I got it.
Here is one of my Brains Damage females that I seeded, using a Thai/Chron male (he was an amazing plant, but all male). It is day 40 and she is loaded down with seeds. BD day40 seeded (Medium).JPG |

Yes you do have it. How did you upload that pic? If you go to the advanced tab when creating a post, and go to "Manage attachements" then upload you can add up to 10 pics a post. I think you did it another way from the look of it.
Peace

Time for another update. It is day 48 of flowering, so I'll begin to flush the plants. Thanks to KC Brains for the beans, they are Brains Damage.
Four growing under 600 watts: day48BrainDamage (Medium).jpg
Three others (one of which is seeded by a Thai x Chron male) are under my 400 watt hps: BDday48f (Medium).jpg
So, my plan is to begin flushing these seven girls in anticipation of a harvest in two weeks!

Rep Power: 82 | | My veg room is getting impatient
Once again, my timing sucks. I have rooted clones ready to flower, but my flower room is full. The strain is Sour Diesel x Purple Urkle. I topped/fimed them 5 days ago and now I am LST them. It helps slow things down a bit.
Here they are topped: vegSDxPU (Medium).jpg
And here they are tied down: tiedSDxPU (Medium).jpg
As soon as they begin growing up again, I will go 12/12 under my 400 w MH.

Thanks, jangel. Looks like we are both in front of our computers this morning. I really need to get back to work soon . One of the few perks of being the boss.
My kush plants are doing well. They are starting to show preflowers. My plan is to take cuttings from the females. Right now, they've been moved to a spare area with CFs. Norman, a bagseed plant, still hasn't told me her sex.
