Default Trichomes nearing the end?

So I've been using my camera to take some pics of the trics. I had hoped I'd be harvesting now but it looks like I should wait a bit longer. My main goal is pain relief so I'm looking for some amber trics. Don't get me wrong I love a good buzzzzz but some days

This is northern lights #5 at about 7.5 weeks (started 12/12 on Aug 1).

peace,
R

Yea a bit longer I think too. They turn in a hurry and remember they will mature a bit after harvest. I think I read that here. Could be wrong. I looked up the strain and it says 45-55 day of flowering so anytime now. Good Luck

the do mature a bit after harvest, but not enough to harvest early

the flowering time guidlines always seem a bit short to me

I think they test under 1000w of Hid with ideal temp co2 etc

take a few tiny buds and you can compare them with the later harvest to see for yourself what tric profile you like for that particular strain

That makes sense scott, I'll pluck a few of em for reference. I'm using a 400hps and the only co2 is me breathing heavy as I drool with the expectation of a decent harvest.

Thanks sentravapor. Photography is a hobby of mine. This shot was done with a canon 20D (dslr). The lens is a 50mm with a couple of cheap close up filters tacked on. I just hand held the camera, focused manually and used the on board flash. (1/160 sec, F11, iso 100)

I agree with the others Ron..if you want that bud to be a bit more on th4e couchy side I would wait a bit longer till you can see those heads starting to turn amber.

As for the camer, damn...that takes some sweet pics! Photography is my next adventure to dive into and learn, but I need to wait till life is settled enough that I can put in the time to learn it right.

Yea Digital SLR cameras are amazing because they allow you to swap on really awesome lenses like macro and fishbowl lens. I bought one of these cameras for my girlfriend on christmas one year and now she's my ex....i'm so pissed I didn't keep it for myself!!! haha

Judging from what I see I would say those trichs look mostly clear with a hint of cloudiness among them. From what I know Northern Lights is a really strong Sativa and gives off a cerebral buzz to begin with so I think even if you matured it longer you would probably get a mix of the head high and couch-lock high. Things are looking good for you and I'd agree with others in saying you got at least 2-3 more weeks to get where you need to be.

I actually started flowering my plant on August 1st as well so if you want to swing over to my grow and check my latest pictures you can see where my trichs are at right now. We're in the same spot I'd say and I can't wait till they finish either!! Some people also tend to say that the plant is ready to harvest when about half of the pistils have turned a brownish/reddish color. I'm not sure of this but it seems like it goes along timely with the bud formation. I'd use a combination of that and trich formation to get your harvest just right..

Happy Growing!
