Rep Power: 92 | | Edit... The 3 plants I have going now, were actually vegged out in the smallest Folgers Coffee Can Size. It is a little bigger than the 16 oz cups, and worked wonderfully for veg! The bigger the veg container, the longer it can stay vegging in your small box. So start off with the biggest, small container, that will suit your veg area size. (If that makes any sense at all- IDK?) JG | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to JointGirl For This Useful Post: | |

Okay, now to serious stuff.....
First off: Not every bad leaf has a problem behind it. Sometimes it is just time for those leaves to die. Not every leaf makes it into flower or needs to make it into flower. Those leaves with that colour are probably just done, and being pushed off because either new buds are growing from where they are, or they are original leaves. And it is their time to bite the dust. I don't think you have a problem.
Second: The younger the piece of the plant that you try to clone, the quicker and more readily it will grow roots. If you started your clones from lower down branches, which works and is how many growers do it, then chances are those cuttings where a bit more woodie and hence took a bit more time to root. Plus they where pretty big to start off. You should try to clone from more tender stock, versus older more wooden branches. If all you have is woodie stalk, then try and scrape off the cabriam (outer bark like coating) layer of the stem. I know some growers don't even do this but just split the stalk in half and then root it. That works too.
I have ones set to clone now that the total size might of been 2 inches. Hell, they might kack on me, but they are activly growing pieces of the plant, newer growth and will most likely keep this trait if you clone them. Chances and rate of growth is higher with newer bits of plant. ...just the way it is. Plus if you take the cuttings from a higher up branch you will then have 2 buds growing out of that branch.
Looking good girl and get those ladies into flower or you will not be able to get into the room when they are in flower!
Good work Trace!

Rep Power: 92 | | Dads been busy all day too with my sisters box. He decided to build the box, instead of purchasing something "pre-built" or cabinet. After all this time outside, I bet he's wishing he wouldve just bought a small cabinet, or better yet- Went with the Rubbermade totes But it looks great so far! She's going to love it! J, I think I will start something about the Hempy Buckets. It seems allot of members here has never heard of them? THEY ARE SOOOO EASY- Especially for someone who wanted to try hydro, but thought it was too complicating! Im doing a practice clone in straight perlite to compare it to the one planted in the perlite/vermiculite. If it does just as well, and we can cut 1 more thing out, it only gets EVEN MORE SIMPLE! I just LOVE SIMPLICITY! I never had anything but great results using the recomended amount, that I never wanted to chance it. Now that I am turning into a Cloning Machine, I figured I can practice around now! I have read o few journals from growers who actually refer straight perlite? We'll See! Ive only clones small new growth at the bottom of the plants, cut about 3 weeks after sprouting. My clippings were fresh and tender, and had NO PROBLEMS rooting. I have had to tie over 2 clones already as they have outgrew my cab in just 2 weeks! Im telling you, These Hempy Buckets, and the cloning box are the SHIZ-IT! In just 2 weeks, my first 2 clones have almost trippled in size! I THOUGHT CLONES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SLOW TO START GROWING? I thought I had a few good week before they would loose their home, I was WRONG! I tied em over last night, and gained a few more inches with them now. Good Luck With Your Box! WE CANT WAIT TO SEE IT! (your GROW Box that is

JointGirl | I am useing straight perlite for my clones, and Bozo swears by it.

No, hon. I know this one! The soil will cause the roots to rot. You must start them in perlite, and then plant in the buckets. without any soil.
Peace

wow!!!...i've not been here for ages!!!!...i miss my little journal!!LOL!!
so.....went today and i may or may not have some issues with leaves!!
another 2 of the clones hit the deck so i'm left with 2 that look very good now...lots of new leaves!!!
i've still not sorted out the clone box(sorry J an JG!!)......but i was looking at cfl's today and i noticed they said warm white on them?...i presume i need cool and not warm so i'm going to visit the big homestore nearby tomorrow ...i'm sure i'll get them there along with the fitment to put them in......the bulbs are 1250 lumens so i presume 2 of them should be cool for my itty bitty clones......til i add more that is!!!
one of the ladies has dried up shrivelly leaves spread out randomly throughout so not sure whats going on there...its only on one so i'm a bit stumped?
so....heres the pics from today......

I am wondering if they might not be root bound Tracey. Anyway you can get bigger pots? Before you put them into flower? Next time you go over, lift them up and see if there are roots coming out the bottom of the pots. That will tell ya hon.

YES You CAN transfer the clone in dirt to a Hempy Bucket. (Just a few extra steps, and a small increase in shocking them.) BUT, It can be done. Actually I JUST did this to 2 White Widow clones someone gifted to my Husband that were in soil. That was 3 days ago, so far- EVERYTHING IS WORKING OUT FINE! I also did this to a Blueberry clone during my first grow. (Same situation, gifted to Hubs and was in soil) The Blueberry NEVER DID show ANY signs of stress, the white widows only had a few fan leaves try to curl on me. I just clipped off the fan leaves that looked damaged, and trimmed a few fan leaves that had curled.
All you have to do is make up a pan/bucket of PH'd water (6.0) Take your clones out of pot, let all loose dirt fall off, while holding/supporting the root system in your hand. Gently dunk the roots into the water. Do this several times (5 or so) and MUCH of the dirt rinses right off. You might have a small amount of dirt on roots, but it should be OK (Small Amount!) Just put it into your Hempy Bucket, and Only give it straight water for the first feeding or 2. Slowly Start to add your Hydro Nutes (1/4 strength, bumping up till you reach full) If you notice ANY signs of stress, just flush with PH'd Water. They SHOULD BE Fine! So far mine are! I wish I wouldve had a camera and took some picts.
BTW, The clone I have in STRAIGHT Perlite Hempy Bucket is doing FINE! She actually looks a little better than the clone in the recommended mix (But she looked better from clipping so?) Just so you know! So maybe straight Perlite Hempy Buckets are the easier way? I'll keep you updated!
