Rep Power: 77 | | StealthBox: An MJ enthusiast's foray into cultivation.
Forthcoming:
An introspective into an MJE -- A multifunctional Introductatory meet & greet thread, in the appropriate subforum.
Quicklist:
- Web 2.0 Developer, Web 1.85 Web Designer (i like the drag and drop for images ...could be vbulletin but cheers ;)
- i work in a cubical during the day, and from my couch with the illadeph at night. Overview:
This will be the log for a Marijuana enthusiast's stealth closet grow. I am open to any and all suggestions. My goal was for cheap, well designed, and very functional.
Two rubbermaid containers, each 50 gallon in capacity, sit atop one another. The lid of the bottom container has carefully cut but the MJE (as he will be referred to from here on). The bottom equivalent portion has been cut from the upper tub, and the two pieces were fitted together by the MJE with bolts. The walls of the tubs were lines with aluminum tape. At the opening of the connecting area, two vanity light fixtures are place. They have been stripped of the housing and screwed at the opening. The fixtures hold 3 26w(100) CFL's each. A 10 inch fan is affixed to the top lid of the upper bucket, blowing out. A plastic pipe is affixed at the lower corner of the bottom tub for airflow in. Cords come in an adjacent hole (later will affix a fitting and rubber grommet). Secondary 5in H/O fan on top of lights.
My total cost was around 100, that includes a Dremel and some poor choices in purchases. This setup will evolve. My suppliers were ome Depot and Wal-Mart. Seeds are premo bagseed, germinated in towels, translated directly into soil at 2 cm. Expected to break soil tonight. Temp in chamber is steady 84'F.
I'm high, prepare for edits. BONUS: Pic's of the MBE's FOAF's setup. illadelph ClosetGro!!!11 242698 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Teaser:
This is a preview of my setup. I plan on moving to a hydro setup when I hone the functionality of the box and the environment inside, but for now I'm going with two plants. More details to follow.
Left Pot: Rocky
Right: Bullwinkle [EDIT] Heres is a bucket gallery: http://s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii185/242698/?action=view¤t=P1010120.jpg
**Note: the hanging light pictures are the closet grow, the MJE's FOAF's grow ;) BONUS style! And for more fun, some pics of my chinchilla, that were on my camera today haha

Howdy m1ku5! Glad to have you on the boards! Gp is a place ...you've found home! Please stop in the Introduce Yourself forum and tell us a bit about yourself....always best to do that first off.
Interesting set-up! Looking forward to some bigger pics! Feel free to have the site host those here, as well. Just add as thumbnails or via the gallery.

Seem to be working fine.
From PhotoBucket, you want to cut/paste the "Direct Link" info (from http://yadayadayada...jpg" into the box.
Give it a try...

here is a new pic of the babies.
Now, after they get a bit bigger, the MJE wants to put the light fixtures on some sort of raisable system. Then the babes will then be trained to grow ScrOG style at the joint of the two tubs:
Any other suggestions for the MJE?
Things needed:
Soil nutes - any ideas?
ANY OTHER IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
BONUS!
Any myco ppl here?

Don't worry, 40% is alright. I try to keep mine 50% or below the entire grow, so that mold spores never get a chance at colonization. Seeing as you're a myco dude, you know how fast molds can colonize and destroy just about any living thing if left unchecked.

any comment on the color of the leaves on the bigger plant? I added 1/4 teaspoon of the MG 24-8-16 to each gallon i fed the two plants. the yellowing still looks like a lack of nutes, but i could be wrong. its a very faint yellow, no spots or anything.
also, im not sure why the smaller plant is growing so slowly, it has much less leaf grwth than the other, but it still looks healthy.
and also,
when, if ever, should i top

Howdy!
They both look good to me, color, etc. As for the nutes, for me I wouldn't be using anything at this point...just good water that is ph'd to their liking (6.3-7.0). A little nute won't hurt, so long as it's just a little, but be careful with that MG stuff.
Some plants are just slower than others, no worries there, just let her do her thing and she'll catch up soon enough.. As for topping...how tall did you want them to veg?

You've got some time before you will need to top. For now, good light, fresh air, and moist soil will help these little ones along.

trying to do a scrog at the juncture of the boxes, or possibly LST. Im still not sure what would be best yet. i have about 3 feet to work with. any tips for maxing my yield at this point?
added a small amount of MG last water, plan on keeping the dose the same an watering every 4-5 days. they look really good and seem very healthy at this point.

new light setup
question....
i tied up the smaller one to begin the LST for scrogging. my plant is so tight though that it seems that it will be hard to tie everything. should i just let it grow naturally, or will i need to LST for the scrog?

wish I could help you, but I'm following your grow because i have a feeling it will be very similar to mine.
i would still rather build a cab, but I have a feeling I might settle for the rubbermaid route. I just like making stuff. I was also thnking of only getting one 3 socket thingee, and use splitters, so I'd still have 6 lights.
folks here told me to look into SOG, so I have a feeling you might want to check it out as well.
good luck! ill be watching

If you wish to LST your plants, check this out. I found this easier and faster, with no tying, just gentle wieghts.
More on this in my journal, the link is in the signature.

i'm loving the results from tying them down
The big one now has 11 colas
The smaller one i'm a bit concerned with. It has been growing much slower than the other one, but still at a steady pace. the thing is, the larger one seems to be getting ready to flower.
im not too sure of when to flower, or when i can tell the sex. the large one has small growths that could be the beginnings of the sex showing, ill try to get pics.
any input?
THANKS! |
