| So I've been reading about how to grow for years, but for the first time I am able to try my hand at it myself! Right now I am on day 6 with 3 days since I transplanted. One seed is Super Silver Haze And the rest are very high mids. All are doing well. Here are pics of my setup and such.... Actually I am having trouble putting pics on here they are on a digital camera not the net if some one can help I'd like to show my grow room off since I have told no one and will not tell a soul. Happy Growing! - Ganja baby Soil: I decided to go with soil specifically 40% top soil the Scotts Brand with peat moss, Around 30 to 40% perlite wiht the other 20% filled in with wermiculite. Also I put around 1/4 of a teaspoon of hydrated lime(the stuff thats fine like a powder) in every 5 gallon pot. I chose the premium topsoil because it has less mulch and sticks in there. I started my seeds in jiffy pots with the cover on under one standard 24 inch t5 fluorescent with the equivalent of 75watts output also I used a 20 watt 24 inch fluorescent aquarium/terrarium light. After four days the roots were popping out of the bottom. Time for transplant! I watered the 5 gallon pots before transplant and two didn't drain fast with the top holding water so I have to remix a couple pots. I watered the pots with distilled water and 1/4 dilution of miracle grow 30-10-10 Azalea Camelia Rhodoendron plant food. I wateres the plants before I bought a pH tester and the water was high at around 7.5ish. The plants have been transplanted for three days now and they are growig fairly well. Grow Room: I finally decide to make my grow room 2 by 2ft initally with room to grow up and to spread the plants out once they flower. I bought two 7inch fans at walmart, one for cooling and one for exhaust. I couldn't find the proper tubing but I decided to make my air ducts out of heavy duty black trash bags. I folded the bag into a tube that fit tightly around the fan. Once I had the width of the tube I taped one of the side tube along the seem then I turned the bag inside out by sticking my hand through the inside of the tube and grabbing the opposite end tthus pulling the bag inside out and did the same thing on the other side to make a smooth eight inch tube that was three feet long. Also on either open end of the tube I folded the top 1/4 inch toward the outside (invering it facing out) and the duck tape it making a smooth tube. I used 1'4 inch foam board taped over with dull or flat white poster board. My inlet is on the ground, and the exhaust tube is over the lights which I will get into in a second. The temperature is always around 75 to 80 degrees with the new inlet/exhaust tubes the temp is even 72-73 degrees! The huimidity is around 50 to 55 percent. I hope this make sense I've been ripping the bong! Lights: Because I didn't want to invest a ton of money in the lights I decided on going with cfl (compact fluorescent) I used 9 cfl lights total. I used a mix with 6 of the lights being 23watts at 6500k or daylight and the other 3 in soft white at 23watts in the 2700k spectrum. I think 5000k is ideal so if my math is correct 6x6500k=39,000K and 3x2700k=8100k so 39,000k+8,100K=47,100 in order to get the median 47,100/9=5233.33.. Someone please correct me if I'm doing the math wrongam using the wrong combination of lights. But if I'm correct than the plants are getting petty close to the ideal light spectrum for the veg stage at least. The ideal light is 5000K for veg. Watering: Of the three plants I had to water one today (with adjusted pH) it was dry 2inches below soil, it's been 2 days. The other two pots the soil is still wet. PH: The pH tester I bought as for a pool anf used phenol red as a pH tester. I rest the runoff. If there is anything flawed in my method please let me know. So I tested the pH of the runoff and it was really high 7.5ish or even a little higher which has me worried. I decided to adjust the pH of my water with apple cider vinegar. I put one capful in 2 and 1/2 gallons of distilled water and it changed the pH from 7.8 to 6.8. I've read you need to change the pH gradually so I decided to use 1/2 tap water with a pH of 7.5 with 1/2 distilled @ 6.8 to get a pH of 7.2ish. This is what I used to water the plant and will water with this pH for a week then I will lower the pH to 6.8 and ideally at 6.5. | ||||||||

| The math on the spectrum is wrong: you cannot average the wavelengths. You just are getting twice as much light on the blue end because you have twice as many bulbs. Its a good ratio. Thumbs up!

| I wish that averaging would work. I would be averaging everything. My front sidewalk has 6 inche of snow, the back walk has 2 inches, ergo, my driveway has 3 inches. HMMMM

| Hey ganja, As for the pics: If you scroll down a bit from the "Reply to Thread" box you will see another box titled "Additional Options'. The second additional option is "Attach Files" Click on that and you can upload your pics right along with your reply. Your grow room: Your grow room needs about 76-80 degrees at the plants. Humidity should be about 60-75%. Make sure you take your readings at the plants, ambient for the room doesn't matter. Your plants are growing under lights that raise temp and lower humidity, and that is their environment. Taking readings at the plants ensures that their local environment is good. Lights: I've never been a big fan of CFL's, but that is a personal preference and others have had good results with them. pH adjustment: Keep it slow and steady. I usually shoot for lowering pH by about 0.1 (one tenth point) every day or two. That way your plants have a chance to adapt to the new conditions instead of freaking out over a sudden change. Watering: In a three gallon pot I do about three cups every day or until I see runoff. As far as water usage, that really depends on the size of the plant and the pot it is in. A good rule of thumb is one cup every two or three minutes until you see runoff. The rest looks like you have a pretty good nursery set up for your new babies. Soon (hopefully) they will grow into young ladies. Usually about 50-50 or 60-40 for females to males is what you get from random (non-feminised) seed. 4kaan4

| Since I added lime to the soil I didn't think I could lower the pH. I decided to repot all my plants in a mix of 1 pt vermiculite. 1pt perlite, 1pt mushroom compost and 1pt peat moss. I began to adjust my water with a pH reducer I bought for an aquarium. The runoff of the new mix is at 6.5. The new mix weighs about 1/2 less than my original. I will not fertilize for a week or two seeing how the mushroom compost has nutrients at.5-.5-.2. I hope the ssh it is resilient enough to survive. My camera batt died but I wil have pics shortly. | ||||||||
