lookin good. try to keep that temp under 84, above that will slow growth and damage the plants (thats what that yellowing and stress spots are from). my grow room runs pretty hot too, mid 70's are the best temp but i only get that in the winter. you can add a little more CO2 to the system (thus allowing the plants to deal a little easier with the higher temps) simply by spraying the plants with carbonated water (club soda/seltzer). give it a try, its pretty cheap too. good luck!

Arrow More pics...

Here's some more pics showing dark green next to the very light green plants.... The seeds were all from the same bud. The three dark green plants look the healthiest, and the largest of them already smells like strong sensimillia. All the others smell like mowed grass. It's hard to believe these three came from the same bud. Some of the more light green plants have yellow bottom leaves (I cut them all off before these pics) and two or three have reddish brown spots. I suspect it's from the crappy Miracle Grow soil I'm using.

I'm afraid if I flush, I will melt and activate the nute pellets in the soil and make things worse.

When I transplant these, is there a brand-name soil that anyone could suggest? I'm not skilled enough yet to mix my own soil and I don't have the proper equipment to do it. I just need to buy a bag of ready-to-go soil.

Also I read that when the roots fill the whole cup, (5 to 6 nodes high) then it's time to transplant. Is that correct?

Someone said that the bottom (water leaves? Is that what they're called?) always turn yellow and should be cut off when they start turning yellow. I've been following that advice. Should I be doing this??

Look closely at the pics and let me know what you all think...

Thanks again for you're assistance!

Total peace totally,

Rolling Stoned

Carbonated water? Wow, I've never heard of that! I'll have to give it a try. So that's what's causing the yellowing! I thought it was the MG soil. Thanks for saying that.

I got the temps under control finally. I had to cut a few more holes in the grow box and lower the plants to about 2 1/2 to 3 inches below the lights. But now it's stable 81 degrees.

i mean the MG soil probably isnt helping either. this is Vid's organic recipe:

http://www.greenpassion.org/f18/simp...rks-well-5083/

i use EarthGrow topsoil from home depot, perilite, vermiculite, dolomite lime, a scoop of earthworm castings, rooting powder, and a little MG "Organic Choice" potting soil for some basic nutes (not much though).

Isn't there some pre-mixed soil out there that you could reccommend? Something better than Miracle Grow anyway... I don't have the place or the know-how to mix my own. I don't dare try it -- not this time around anyway. There's got to be something... Anything?

I use Ocean Forest (Fox Farm) I always get excellent results. The brown spots on your leaves are most likely from too high a level of Nutes. Cut it down 25%. If your Nutes call for 4 Tsp. per gallon of water, use 3 Tsp. That's almost a rule of thumb. I use CANNA for soil and I had the same problem. I cut the recommended dose by 25% and the problem went away and my plants really took off.

One other thing. I get better results when I alternate feeding strength. ie, in my case, one watering with 3 Tsp. per gallon of water, the next watering with 1 Tsp. per gallon of water and once a month plain water.

Peace,

Canna Bus

Question

Thanks Cana Bus.... I'll try to find some of that...

Here's an update and a question... First the update.

__________________________________________________ __________

Week Three – Lighting 24/24

Saturday, August 15th, 2008 –
5:30pm
, temperature 83° , humidity 34%. Two plants withered and almost dead. Soil seemed dry as a bone. Another with yellow and spotted leaves. The rest seem healthy.

7:00pm – Watered them all.

__________________________________________________ ____________________________________

Sunday, August 16th, 2008 –
9:30am, temperature 86°, humidity 35%. I cut down the two plants that withered. Why did they die?? Virtually overnight, and they were gone. Except for a couple with yellowish leaves and red spots, all the rest look fine. The roots of the two withered plants had filled more than half the cup… Is it time to transplant them?

__________________________________________________ _____________

QUESTION:

For no discernable reason, two of my plants just withered and died overnight. Their roots took up more than half of the cup. Does this mean it's time to transplant? (The others are still healthy and strong.) Here's some pics:

Keep seedlings in moist medium and it might be a good idea to spritz them with plain water or a very weak solution of Superthrive. Like 1 - 2 drops per gallon when the lights cylces off. Do not spray with the lights on.

Thanks. When is it time to transplant them into bigger pots?

Hey Rolling Stoned. If you are using MG soil you should NOT be feeding them at all. It has tons of fertilizer in it, and that is the problem. Also, heat stress will make them that lighter green color.

I have heard of others spraying their plants with co2 water, (seltzer or club soda) but you need one with NO salt or sodium in it. The other person doing this stopped as it was burning his plants under his lights. I would not do it at all. IMHO.

When you see roots coming out the bottom holes then it is time to transplant. It is easy when you water, wait a day, then take a plant and turn it upside down in your hand, and it should just slide out. Then you can check better the condition of the roots and if it needs repotting. If not ready just slide it back in and no trauma.

Hope it helps ya, bud.

Life,
j-angel
