your very welcome RS, believe me, people helped me plenty in the
beginning, and they still help me now, lol, i'm no expert.

lol, that being said, yes, flushing is akin to over watering, the difference
is that, with flushing, you're running all that water through the plants,
allowing the plants to then drain out the excess. overwatering allows
the plants to sit in too much water which starves the plant for oxygen.

also, in the future, don't use the MG soil for seedlings, it's too rich and will
often cause nute burn and even death.

and while i like the idea of planting your excess outside, i'd caution you to
pick your spot very carefully and to do some research on outdoor growing.
to get any decent results, you need to plan for what you're gonna do.
here is a link to get you started, http://www.greenpassion.org/f17/my-o...y-2008-a-5814/

lol, and you don't need to tell me about financial constraints, lol, i live well
below the federal poverty line. on the plus side, i've been smoking nothing
but 'my own grown' for about 5 weeks now which means i've gotten to not
spend the $300.00 i usually spend per month.

i can't wait to get my hands on some good genetics 'cause i now know
that i can grow my own buds.

anyway, have fun and don't tell anyone you're growing, getting busted is
the worst buzz kill of all.

Seedlings outside in August? I don't think they are gonna make it unless you live near the equator or in the southern Hemisphere..but it can't hurt you may even get a little bud bearing plant as the deminishing light will signal the plant to bud as soon as it is able..but don't put it outdoors if it is a security risk...I don't think it would be worth it for the small amount you are unlikely to harvest anyway...see if others agree with me on this
Thanks Scott, I guess you're right, I'll have to cut down most of them. Hopefully I can let them grow large enough to get a small buzz of them or something... Hopefully...

you're very welcome, i'm glad to help and you'd be surprised at how
much i benefit from helping you.

lol, i think i'm suffering from 'empty nest' syndrome, my daughter
is in Virginia Beach for the summer and my son left for Fla yesterday
with his girlfriend and her parents. that leaves just me and the cats,
lol, and you.

Me??? I'm the most impatient person on this planet. Do you have any idea how nerve-racking it is for someone like me to stare at a bunch of plants waiting for them to grow!! LOL! I'm going nutz here, twiddling my thumbs and checking my sproutlings every few hours, hoping to see some kind of drastic change. Man, I wish there was a way to speed this process up... At least you've got a couple of cats to keep you distracted...

Somebody distract me before I start fiddling with the plants again!

An arcade and knitting, hmmmmm, never thought of that! I only make socks however...

I started fiddling with the plants again. Here's my journal update:

Sunday, August 10th, 2008 – 10:00pm, temperature 80°, humidity 46%. Trashed a midget sprout to make room for an elevated platform. Rearranged all the plants and elevated them to an inch below the bulbs. Took comparison pics. Repositioned the temp/humid gauge to above the internal fan. Will monitor the temperatures and vigor of the plants closely…

matte white paint is more reflective
im no pro indoors, im not even a novice, but ive done that much homework
about reflectiveness
(dont meen to sound snobby, incase anyone thinks so, just my GF's asleep)

Quote:
I've lined the inside with a reflective emergency blanket as I could not find any Mylar at Home Depot, Lowes or Wall-Mart. It's wrinkely, but it's better than nothing.

hey dude, when you're right, you're right, nothing snobby about it man

and he is right RS, flat white paint would work better for you than that emergency
blanket, for one thing, the wrinkles can cause hot spots in the grow area.
flat white paint will give you about 90% reflectivity, you can do better
with mylar but it has to be laid nearly perfectly flat.
not only that but painted walls are way easier to clean and you won't rip
the paint like you could do with the mylar, plus, white paint is way cheaper
than mylar.
