Default Clones

I have been gifted some clones by a friend that I had gotten some off in past years. Not wanting to tell him what we are doing (loose lips sink ships!!!) I HAD to accept them! LOL! So here are some pics. I am not sure what they are. I have to ask and take notes later today!!! LOL!

Default My Clones

I have so far had great luck with my water clones. They look to have pre-root "bumps" on some of them. I have had some leaves yellowing, but not a lot, and just pulled them out. I have to cull some later today. And sort male and females that I know. But so far so good! Good one Green_Nobody! This water cloning is working just great!

Default May 16 Update - Clones

Okay folks. Lots happening in the grow! First off I will start with the clones. My aim was and is to sex my plants, and clone the females. I did some clones in water, of each and have removed all the confirmed males and any that rotted or did not start to show root buds. The all look a bit sad here, and I have since moved them all to peat pellets to continue as I was running out of room! I find the pellets take a lot less room. Here are some pics of the water clones and new ones of sexed plants. The pics are pretty self explanitory.

One thing I have to add: when I soaked the pucks I soaked them in water with about 2 teas to a tbls. of gel rooting hormone. I also dipped all the cuttings in powdered rooting hormone. I think they are just taking off due to this.

More clones. Take note of on top of my dome there is a vent that can be opened and closed to different degrees. I like this feature. Really helps control the humidity. I have also used simple plastic tags to mark some of the plants. If I had more I would of used more. I plan when they get a bit bigger to hook these over a fan leaf to maintain track of whick type, and mother the clone is from as well as when started, and sex, or any other info.

Wink Re-Potting.

Okay, the second lot of plants I have already transplanted once needed potting up again. I have had such great root developement with just bone meal, som FF American pride and lime added to the soil. I have fed once when replanted the first time with a 1/4 strength of FF tiger bloom, a couple drops of superthrive and some fish emulsion. The rest of the times I have just watered with Osmosis water. Here's some shots of roots and the replanted baby.

Now here is a shot of my veg area. As I had originally atticipated I have a few males. I have them outside in a seculuded area getting ready to be planted by our creek. They look to be getting ready to throw their pollen and I am planning to gather it and keep it for future use, as scott06 informed me it was good for up to a year. I will endeavor to polinate a bud or two on chosen females, for seeds, when I am ready. I beleive I have 8 males out of 36, but expect that to rise as not all have shown sex yet. I also have a hermie and I don't quite know what to do with this one. It had nads, which I pulled off, and then placed the plant with the boys. No further nads have appeared so far and it is hairing up like it is female. I don't know what to do with it! I can plant it outside away from the other girls and see what happens. I just don't have the heart to kill it! This is from my Lethal Purple. I will show you in a day or so the variety of leaf types and forms this one variety have taken. I do not think it is a stable genus yet. I have short Indica type plants and this hermie is tall like a sativa. Okay here are some shots of veg area and my hermie. These sex parts are from the same plant. Any one have any advise please chime in ! Thanks.

Default Hardware Low Stress Training- OR how MAKE them behave!!

NOW! Here we go into a little experiment I have been doing. Most of these big babies are going to be planted outside and I want them nice and bushy and lots of side shoots for buds. SO I have been using Low Stress Training on them, but doing MY way. With everything I have read the people have either used string, or wire or even twist ties to tie the plants down. It seemd a lot of fuss and time when I thought IF I could just get the plant to stay where I wanted it to, in a vertical position and not horizontal then that would work. So I looked at it from a different angle and came up with using hardware items to hold them in the position I placed them. It started with chains, which worked well, and had enough wieght to them to hold the branch where I wanted it to be. It worked. Once I placed the plant with the branch bent how I wanted it to be the side branches just exploded. Within a couple of days the side shoots would be as long as the main stem almost. From what I have read the theory is to get the stem and bend it in stages at all the points of the clock. eg, first 12, then 3, then 6, then 9, and then by the time you are back to 12 you should have had the plant grow shoots on all sides. This is good for growing shoots for clones or for more bud sites. Or even would work to get a good SOG cover. I want little bushes. I have the area to plant them apart from each other so that is that. Okay. I have taken shots from all stages, trying to follow one plant from start to finish. It gets confusing so if some of the shots are out of order excuse me please. I also have tried to show the variety of things you can use. Pretty endless and the only limit is your imagination. I have even just used old discarded wire tied with bolts or whatever I had to give the wieght I needed. Just do NOT let the wieght pull the branch too far and do this after they have been watered, they bend easier. I pushed it too far as well and broke a plant. It was a male anyway so that is okay but don't bend them tooooo far or they will break. You have to sence them and do it gently. I have also found that you do not need to leave all the wieght on the branch. This can break them. Rest it on the dirt inside the plant or with chain, on the table or whatever. You just need it to hold it where you put it, not over bend it. Okay, lots of shots of this so hope you guys are ready!!!!!

Please ask any questions you want. I have used all kinds of stuff for this, even just the outside cover on wiring that was garbage. Anything will do. Okay, take a peak.
