Rep Power: 83 | | My First Grows
Hey All,
So I finally got a card reader for my camera so I can finally post my pictures!
Pics one and two: These are the sprouts from my first soil grow! Just bag seeds, wanted to get one grow under my belt before starting the seeds I bought.
Pics three, four, and seven: These are the ladies now, they sure have grown! Doing a SoG, and they seem to be very healthy and happy (atleast as far as I can tell)
Pics five and six: These are my first Hydro grow! The 3 pods on the right are Blue Mystic and the 3 pods on the left are Ice. All the BM have sprouted, but non of the Ice have, does anyone find this strange?

So the Ice have still not sprouted. The Blue Mystic get bigger everytime I look at them. Is it normal for different types of seeds to take this lmuch longer than another to sprout? Just wondering if I am doing something wrong. PH is were it should be. Its a Ebb and Flow System, flooding four times a day...
Any help would be much appritiated. And Thanks in advance!
Hope All is Well

So for the past 24 hours my soil grow has been in total darkness and this morning I put in the flowering lights and set the timers to 12/12!
The hydro girls are getting bigger everytime I open my closet door (which is often, I just cant get enough). None of the Ice seeds sprouted, which I find very strange since all of the Blue Mystic did. But I think I am just going to clone some of the soil plants and grow them in place of the lost Ice seeds.
Anyway, here are some pics....
Pics 1- 5: These are of the soil grow. I found 3 males, which I removed before flowering started, but 4 out of 7 isnt bad. And the 4 that are left seem to be doing well, but I am still new to this, so please let me hear your thoughts!
Pics 6-8: These are the Hydro girls. They look like they are doing ok (again this is my first hydro grow so I dont really know). The only question I have is do they look over saturated? In the first hydo pic especially the leaves are kind of wavy, to me it looks like it has too much water. I am not sure how well it shows up in the picture...

Hey All,
Sorry I havent updated in a bit, just decided to move, I am on month to month so we are trying to be out by the first, they just raised rent which sucks! But the good news is I have a great area to move my grow to. The only thing I am worried about is the transfer. Its not far away, but I do have to drive them over. I am setting up the space tonight and probably moving the grow tomorrow if everything goes as planned....
As far as the grow is conserned, the three Ice seeds never sprouted. But one of my friends had some Blueberry seeds that he gave me. I planted two seeds, one yesterday and one the day before. The lader sprouted over night! Hopefully the other gal will sprout soon aswell, they have a little catching up to do with the Blue Mystic.
The soil is looking great. They get bigger and fuller everytime I look at them. Hopefully the move will not be too stressful on them.
I will try and post pictures tonight after work.
Hope All is Well

So I am pretty sure that I have lost all my hydro gals....
I am not sure how or why either. The ph was stable. Added chemicals on Monday (like usual), gave it the amounts posted in feeding schedule on this site, same nutes, made sure. They were alright yesterday morning, they had a little bit of what I thought was that "rust" that ISO was dealing with... I went to work, came back over my lunch break (i am lucky enough to work only 5 minutes away from my apt), they were still good, looked healthy minus the rust spots. I then went back to work, came home at 5pm and they were almost gone. They were all wilted and hanging down and discolored. Have no idea what could have caused this... One of my fans was off for a bit, but the exhaust is still strong even with that one fan not on. So I think I may hang up the hydro hat for a bit and just start another soil grow. I think that my inexperience can be dealt with in soil (man my soil ladies are tough), but hydro is just to delicate for me at the moment. I am very happy that I took the advice that many of you gave me to do soil first! At least I have 4 soil plants now two weeks into flowering and are doing awsome. So I think today after work I am going to start germinating more seeds. Gonna grow the Blue Mystic and Ice still, just in soil this time...
So all in all it was a good and humbling experience. It made me realize that I dont know as much as I thought I did... I am now just ready to move on and get another soil grow under way. Cant wait to get some of these Ice and BM to bud!
Hope All is Well

Boy, you are a tough one sweetie! I would mope for a day then start the seeds! That is the problem with hydro that it can go south really fast. That is just great you have soil plants to fall back on. Good luck and I will check back to see how it goes.
One other thing, about those seeds: did you germinate them before putting them to grow or just put them in the cubes and wait? ISO has it down to a science, starting seeds. He uses tannic acid or tea and swears by it, read his journal for details. I start my seeds in wet paper towel, in a dark warm place, then plant them.
Good luck and I love your spirit. Good for you.
Peace

Thanks Jangel! As for the seeds: The first round I germinated 3 Blue Mystic and 3 Ice. All of the germed then I planted, but only the BM sprouted, no Ice. So I started a couple blueberry seeds, just planted in rockwool, which both sprouted.
And over lunch I started germing more today at lunch to replace the ones lost in hydro. So I did 3 BM and 3 Ice again. Hopefully, in soil the Ice will sprout. My seeds are soaking in ceramic cups with lids, currently, then once they pop I am going to plant them in soil (I have been talking with one guy at the hydro/plant store about soils, last time I used Fox Farm Ocean Floor and one of the local brands he suggested. This time I am gonna go for something different, just to try out, so I will he what he suggests).

I would be interested in what he suggests and what he price is, compared to vid's mix. Good luck this time, sweetie.

Hey WhammyBoy,Sorry to hear your hydro kicked off on you.The soil plants look good and are doing real nice too.Did you switch to bloom nutr when you switched the lights to 12/12?This is what I do with my hydro or soil, the first week of bloom they get veg nutr for that week. The second week I lower the veg nutr and up the bloom nutr and the 3rd week they get all bloom nutr till harvest. This helps them to stay green and not get so pale yellow looking and the transition from veg to flower. Some strains are alittle picke about going from veg nutr to bloom nutr over night.I have been doing this for so long that I dont have to think about it I just do it.Here's one I read a why'll back and it works too.Take a piece of fine sand papper and cut it to fit in a match box{wooden matches}put your seeds in it close and shake it back and forth. This will breake the outer skin on the seeds and help them to sprout.Sometimes the seeds are old and they need all the help they can get.I do put mind in tea and put them in the refrigerater for 24 hours, then take them out and let them warm to room temps.Rinse them off with water without chroine in it.Then plant them or put them in a damp papper towels and put them in a warm dark place. You will get more to gem this way.It works for me.The next time you want to do hydro give me a holler and I will help you out.Hydro is not that hard to do, it is just alot faster. After you learn it you well love it. Peace

I did switch to bloom nutes.
Here are some more pics of the flowering girls. And I just planted my seeds that were germing.
Is pic number two a hermie? To me it looks like it could be one, but not sure. And if it is does it need to get removed?

Whammy,
That node in pic #2 sure looks a bit butch to me... Can't say 100% without a closer shot, but I would be babysitting that thing till he/she decided what side of the fence to fall on!

I have one that might be on both sides as well. I will see what they are doing today. Don't chop it too soon, but keep your eyes on it. Sometimes they have sicle shapped pods and they end up being full of pistols. Here is one.

The only reason I think it is a hermie is because my friend, who gave me the seeds and grew the strain before said that it was a hermie. But I will go start researching...
With my camera I have trouble getting a clear shot of a close up. But a friend of mine is a photographer, so I will ask if I can borrow one of his digital cameras that are better than mine.
Do hermies pollunate other female plants? I have heard that they do not. However, I trust GP's opinion a whole lot more than theres - the knowledge and experience here in second to none.
Thanks for all the help, really appritiate it.
Hope All is Well

So it is definantly a hermie. I checked the gals like i do every morning when I wake up and there were tones of pistils coming out of her and she was 5in taller than the night before!
Does the hermie need to go? Or will it not pollunate the other plants?

Hope All is Well | IF it is a hermie then it needs to "sleep with the fishes", if ya get my drift..
Can you get another pic of that node? Which one has all the pistils? The iffy hermie?
