My first grow/journal

Well I'm due for an update. First AMS plant has showed girly parts (they were FEM seeds). The bigger bag seed still haven't sprouted any hairs from the pistil like pods. I'm not seeing any signs of males. I swapped out bulbs a few days ago to an HPS bulb and let me say if I can I'm going to get another 400 or maybe a 250 MH and run them together because they love both, The HPS is giving me the height I want but the MH was keeping them short and bushy. So I figure if I double up it would help me get more out of each grow. I plan on vegging for a few more weeks, I'm in no hurry I want to get as much out of this grow because I wont have as much time to dedicate to future grows. I'm also shopping for fish/seaweed ferts. That will be the next big thing along with cloning supplies. I received my TDS meter in the mail today, and picked up 2 2port air pumps, air stones, 25' of air hose. I have a 10 gal tote from wal-mart that I bought for I have no clue but its gonna be my first attempt at DWC, Gonna get one more (told the wife to pick one up on her way home but she got the wrong one, so what she bought is gonna be used for clones). Well thats pretty much it for now. Sorry about the pics there alittle fuzzy, I dont know what happened but you can still see for the most part. Well thaks for looking..Comments are lways welcome..especially something that can be changed or fixed

I'm gonna try DWC because it doesnt seem too hard and it seems to be faster with way more yeild meaning less work more play. Its gonna be a 100% DIY since theres no hydo shops around me, so its wally world or home depot. I just need to make net pots, gonna use river rocks since I heard they will suffice. I dont really like spending money unless I know for sure it will work, and this is my first shot so if I can make it work with minimums then later I'll shell out the money on hydroton and real net pots, and whatever else but for now its DIY..lol

Well its been about 10 days since my last update. All is going well. I forced the biggest plant to finally sprout some hairs ( switched to 12/12 for 3-4 days) it had a bunches calaxes all over just no pistils, now I see hairs..LOL

The smaller midgrade seeds is nolonger whole..LOL I was messing around with it thinking about tying it down and snapped off a branch so I chopped it up and am giving the "cub & water" method of cloning. We'll see how that works. If I can get it to work then I'll start taking clones of my last midgrade and biggest AMS plants. I want to see my midgrade plant in DWC, I think it would be a monster as with the AMS. I still need to get rockwool so I can take a stab at DCW, I have everything else.

I realized that I could literally keep my light about 1"-1 1/2" from the top of my plants and they seem to like it. I forgot to turn the pots for a day maybe day and a half and one side of each plant has out grown the other side, nothing big but I gotta rotate them better. I just started putting them on boxes so there the same height.

I also bought 6 2 ft. fluorescent fixtures I'll be using for side lighting ( still need bulbs, in a few days).

I think my plants are slow growers, but they are extremely healty and have lots of new growth. I see others plants grow alot faster but not as much under growth. I'm shooting for a minimum of 18" before I flower hopefully more as I am in no hurry to switch to flowering as I want them to be as big and healthy as possible. I think I have about 2-3 weeks tops and they should be close to 24-28" if they keep like they have the past week and a half.

Well here are some pics I just took.

I know the biggest one looks droopy..I think shes picky she doesnt like to leave the closet ( I think shes camera shy) always happens when she comes out of the closet. I gotta say this AMS is easy to grow I would like to see a pro grow it out it has alot of potential, more than what I'm doing.

Anyway to those who wonder in..thanks for stopping in..Comments wanted/accepted.

OK I'm about to flower my girls (need to repot), but have a quick question. I know when in flower you dont want any light during the lights off cycle, well the weather here has been shitty (thunderstorms and tornadoes)and the power goes out from time to time (twice today). What if any damage can be done by the lights going out. I'm not worried about them getting light when there not supposed to but what about lapses in light. I think the longest I've gone without power was 2-3 hrs, usually 30-45 mins if that.

Another thing is I leached my soil the other day and I think right before I was coming up with a N deficiency. I trimmed off the majority of the yellow leaves. Well some weren't as bad as others, will the ones that weren't completely yellow green back up or should I trim them also. I'm pretty sure it was a PH issue which lead to the deficiency. The PH is now under control and I burned them a little trying to get them to green back up ( broke a few rules by not following the mixture directions). I'll add pics tomorrow my backs acting up.

One more thing. Does anyone know of a place to get square pots?, I cant find them anywhere online or in stores. Gonna call some nurseries tomorrow but the ones around me suck. If I cant find any I'm just gonna go with 5 gal nursery pots (last resort) since they're cheap.

I got my square pots from a "$ store". Nursery's are a good place to find them though.

Your light problem could result in a hermie. Keep an eye out for nuts and trim them before they bust,If any show.

They are very healthy ( Just got done molesting them). Just a mild case of nute burn and some yellowing from N deficiency. Some of the yellowing leaves greened up tomorrows a watering day so we'll see what happens in the next day or so.
