Default my 1st ebb&flow grow and questions

Well, thanks to a whole lot of great advice from all of you I am now 3 weeks into my hydro grow. here's the setup:

heating vent in floor is now air intake, small fan just to move some air
cut hole into the attic for exhaust from 6" blower
blower sucking heat from 1000watt hps
airflow in room is great, temp 75-78
two clothes storage trays for the plants, 2 gallon net pots
rubbermaid res, 2 airstones and the 264gph pump
using general hydroponics 3 part system plus calmag because of the coir
medium is 50% coir, 50% perlite
milwaukee ph/tds meter
light is 12 on 6 off.
currently feeding once a day in veg state
plants grew beyond my wildest dreams, heights 5"-9"
from seed in 3 weeks & very lush with leaf.
the way they are growing i'm thinking i might need to go into bloom in another three weeks or knock out the ceiling altogether!

about ppm. currently at 1200 with ph at 6.0. is my ppm ok or too high?

do i really need c02? does it impact potency?

thanks in advance for any advice,

caldog

Sounds good so far. Do you have much leakage of medium into trays? I am thinking of doing a similar setup. I think I am gonna experiment with rock wool cubes, clay pellets and some soil less mixtures. I currently hand feed into a few different soil less mediums and I love it.

Getting your ppm's right can be quite tricky. I would experiment a little, maybe do some a little less than 1200 ppm. I have had some strains that hate anything above 900 ppm and get burned real quick. If you are not having burned or curled leaves, I would say you are fine.

I would get co2 rockin before you start flowering. I bet you will see a substantial increase in yield. I would say at least 15% - 30%. It kind of depends on other restricting agents within your setup. Co2 causes the plants to grow healthier. It will not really make your thc more potent but it will create a healthier and stronger plant that will in theory produce more healthier bigger flowers. Does this make sense? You could get a co2 generator or just buy a 20lb co2 tank and get it filled at the local welding shop. Buy a regulator for around $175 and run some laser line above your plants, this will help release co2 above your plants as it is heavier than air and will settle on the plants. I release a little bit in 15 minute intervals above all my flowering plants. I know this is not the most efficient way to fill your room but I find that the few hundred I spend on co2 each month is very much worth it in the long run. If I was in a barn or shop, I would convert to a burner in a heartbeat.

Hope this helped a little. Good luck and be safe!!!

Hey Roland707, thanks for the advice. picked up a good used on craigslist. fwiw, there is alot of used gear on craigslist, it's a good service! Anyway, in 3rd week of flowering of wt widow, an indica or low ryder, a girl w/man hands and some other strain. wt widow has out performed all the others, sexed 1st and one wt widow has fanned out her limbs to allow the undergrowth to thrive. she's hogging alot of tray but sporting alot of flower as well.

have clones going in 2 environs; one is an outdoor misting table i built to clone alot of diff plants, the other is a diy ez clone w/ superthrive in it's water.

the hard part now is the waiting. no real odor yet, once that hits my nose i'll need to be restrained..
