looking good. im glad you have a big exhuast fan some people have trouble with their rubber maids because they dont have adequate exhaust (usually people use crappy 80mm computer fans).
looking forward to seeing a sea of green in there :-D

Day 2 - 4/5 seeds germinated
I am able to see tap roots sprouting out of seeds. I simply made a 1/4inch depression with a pencil tip and dropped the pre-germed (paper towel in ziploc bag method) seeds in.
Question: should I add a sprinkle of soil so that the seeds & taproot are no longer visible?
My gut tells me it's fine as is. Mother Nature will take care of it. Thoughts?

Die-
I don't even have to run that fan yet! The 120mm computer fan for INTAKE generates enough airflow such that when i put my hand over the top exhaust hole, i feel a warm breeze. Temps steady at 77.
My reasoning behind the purchase was-
1. Once the plants grow, it will be more crowded and I will need more airflow to maintain temps.
2. I will probably add more lights via Y connectors at some point.
3. If this works I know I will probably upgrade to a bigger cabinet or closet and I can reuse it then.
As for sea of green (more likely ScrOG) - I am going to wait until my first set of clones before attempting that for a more uniform canopy.
First-timer here! And if it sounds like I know what I'm talking about it is only because I took the time to read an absorb the information already provided by the good folks on this site! Many Thanks!

Hey there mos congrats on the new grow and quitting cigs too.
I would gently cover them up so the light stays off the root. Just a bit don't pack it down. And don't put all your lights on at the beginning either. Maybe 1 or 2 of the smaller wattage to start then in a week or so increase a bulb or two more at a time till they are all on.
Good luck with your new grow best to you.

Thank you- the patch is keeping me sane!
I just sprinkled some soil < 1/4 inch per your advice.
also I'm curious as to the rationale behind lower wattages for the first two weeks. One thing I am trying to avoid is "stretch" and I thought that by giving it enough light esp early on- I will prevent this.
Feedback Appreciated.

Hey there mos those little seedlings will break soil in a day or two and when that happens that don't need all the light you have in there. After they get a week or so old then increase incrementally until all bulbs on. Too much light too fast is no good for little seedlings.
Once they are all on (the bulbs) do you have the ability to lower the bulbs to the seedlings or raise the seedlings to the bulbs within a few inches this will prevent stretching.

Day 6 - 2 fast sprouts 2 slow ones
using 3/6 lights for now 24/0
The 2 slower sprouts did not have their tap root oriented downward. Further, I had to manually remove the seed casing from the seed-leaves.
I added a little bit of water today- mindful not to overdo it. The leading cause of seedling death is over-watering.
Also i noticed the temperature drop to a low of 72- probably because of the 50% light i am using during seedling phase. To counteract this I have attached duct tape to the exhaust cutout to keep heat in. Holding steady at 77 now.

They are looking good mos. Good adjustment with the temp. They will be growing like mad soon enough and yes the waiting is the hardest part. I still find myself starring at them in wonder.
And if I didn't say it before nice grill and a good looking pup too.
