Lowryder 2 Test/5 x 5
From the posts on here, you would think growing Lowryder is like riding a Japanese bike as opposed to a Harley, it feels real good, but you don't want your friends to know about it.
But, being a rookie, I bought some as they sounded cool, until I met pot snobs. I mean, sometimes, it's like going to a fancy bistro and ordering Sutter Home white Zin, which I'd have to admit would be pretty embarrassing.
So, 5 for 5 popped under towels with spring water in 24 hours, 36 hours, all were planted in custom mix(doesn't that make me sound smart?!) of Promix, earthworm castings, perlite, greensand, kelp, and lime. Very light and airy mix, which is what I was going for. I'm going with guano based nute teas this time, at 2-3 weeks, Liquid Karma, and Super Thrive.
My plan is to plant them, feed them, and smoke them, lol. This will be a minimalist effort, 1 transplant to 3 and 5 gallon pots under 430 HPS abter 2 weeks under 2 40 watt CFL's. I'm thinking 24 hr light the entire grow, but know some go 18/6, not sure what would yield the highest. My gut tells me plants need to rest from light, but no scientific evidence of that.
Comments and advice very welcome!!

Thanks, Ando, I'm looking forward to seeing what all the buzz is about, pun intended!
Actualy, in my initial quest for the ultimate genetics, I ran across the "holy grail" of Santa Maria, and the only place I could find that line used was in Lowryder 2.
Plenty of bad stuff on the original Lowryder, but many good reviews on 2, Diesel, Auto AK, etc. Since I've got limited space, and wanted to up yield, the plan is to grow the Lows out at the same time I'm vegging some Purple Cindy, which have a suggested veg of 5 weeks, then as the Lows are finishing, all I need do is drop the Cindy's to 12/12 and rock on.

LowRyder 2 4 week old Pics
Here they are, and they seem a little tempermantel. The one looks pretty bad, and would appreciate any opinions. Overall, they seem to be doing nicely. They are all in 3 gal of mix, with nutes as teas. From what I'm seeing, it looks like nit deficiency. They had nothing until 3 weeks, other than worm castings and kelp meal mixed in to the Promix/Perlite base. The only thing i've given them is a watering with 1 T each of high n and high P Bat guano, 1 T LK, and a drop of superthrive. Oh, 1 T of Fox Farm Big bloom.
Since I hadn't really given them anything, I narrowed the issue to a deficiency of some kind.

Begin Week 6 From Seed
Today is day 35 from seed, tomorrow starts week 6, and have to say it's been kind of fun. No muss, no fuss. They seem like they started out a little slow, and I think they were just jones'n for some nitrogen. They started in 60 % promix, 20 perlite, 20 worm castings, a bit of kelp and greensand and that's it. As soon as I started feeding them, they got real happy. Since life expectancy is about that of a mayfly, I figured they eat more sooner.
Last grow, I mixed all the ferts into the soil, and this time I'm using teas. Advantages to both, but teas are kind of fun to mix, and seems to leave you in congtrol of their diet. Since little danger of buring them with organics, I gave them a loading dose of 3T each high nit and high phos guano, 2 T molasses, 1 T LK, 4 T Big Bloom, and a drop or two of Superthrive. I know that sounds like a lot, but, they are really digging it. Having Lows in 3 and 5 gal pots, I'm hoping by letting the tops get really dry, they'll put down some deep roots. The promix is very airy, and holds water well, but drys fast with HPS and fans blowing on them.
They're started to smell a bit, smells like ganja to me. Happy Sunday.

i like them. i have 1 diesel ryder about 3 days old. either way if its male or female i'm gonna use it. i'm actually hoping its a male so i can pollinate my females with it and get some seeds out the deal.
I was interested and grew 10 LR2s just for kicks, they were cute. Noy enough yield for this guy. Good luck and have fun. If you have fun and get some smoke outta it then it's cool.

Ditto
Ditto on the yield. I just had the seeds, and thought I'd grow them out to just to see what I could get out of them. I've heard the smoke is pretty good too, except the original Lowryder is pretty bad.
My faith in fem seeds was restored, as did get 5 females out of 5 feminized seeds.

Hey, what did you think of the high from your Lows? More Sativa or Indica?

MId Week 7
Here's the Lows, getting sticky and stinky! They are low maintenance, and beginning to fatten up. I just fed them Big Bloom, LK, and molasses on Sunday, and that will probably be it till finish. I think they'll go 10 weeks instead of 8 or 9, but it seems most flowering times are understated on most strains. Reading Soma, he waits till they completely stop growing, which I did with my White Widows, and they went a solid 10 1/2 weeks, and though 75 percent brown hairs, trichs were still very clear at harvest.
If I get a couple oz's off 5 plants, I'll be surprised. Virtually 0 branching. Give them 3 more weeks, and it will be time to evict them for Purple Cindy's! They look nice, but the tallest is 12-13 inches, don't know what growers do to get 18-24 inches out of them. I read a bunch of reviews that all claimed over an oz per plant, but that's hard to believe.
Oh, buds are getting rock hard, and if you touch them, the room explodes with skanky, bud odor. Smells kind of like kissing a skunk that just ate an over ripe mango, lol.

9 weeks
Here's the update. Sunday will be 9 from seed. Smells really nice, yield may be a little better than I thought. Tallest is 13 inches, shortest about 8, but they are all fattening up pretty nicely. Checked the trichs today, and were all clear, so probably going to wait another week. I've now read start nutes from day one, or your height and yield won't be as great. Since I grow organically, I'm not too concerned with burning stuff, and my first grow had 2/3 cup bat guano per gal, and used it from sprout to finish. Seemed to work very nicely.

LR2 Harvest Time!
Ok, here's the first two! One wet is 36 grams, the other is 21. Sooooo, that means about 5-6 grams and 9 grams dry, or 'bout 1/4 oz per plant. It's kind of fun, in that all you are growing is one big cola from the git-go, very little trim.
The buds are pretty dank, so I'll let you guys know how it smokes. Actually, it's been really fun. They seem pretty stable, and are excellent for those who have limited "grow windows", or can only grow at certain times. They are also just plain easy, and I think if grown with reasonable conditions will treat you right.
I know their's the "pot snobs" out there who dis autoflowers, but, I think they're a real service to a lot of people. I'm going to try Double Diesel and Diesel, and LR2 xAk47 in my "windows".
2 down, 3 to go! It's cool how you can just watch your plants and they'll tell you when they are ready. Soma writes about early harvests, and how much you hurt your yield and potency. I wait till growth completely stops, and they are no longer pushing out any pistils. I look at trichs, and they are usually 50/50 cloudy/clear at that point, with a few brown.
Seems like the uploads are down on the site, so I'll post pics when able.

Thanks, Zip, I appreciate it. I've been thinking of how much this site helps medical users, and feel in part that's why I wanted to grow these out. Some may not have the expertise, physical ability, or the funds to set up a complex grow system, and the auto flowers are a way many can grow very easily.
Peace.

I couldn't agree with you more. This site is about helping people help themselves and autos can, get the job done. Your yield certainly demonstrates the viability of using them for home meds. Thanks again for showing how to "geeter done".
