Default The joys of clones...

Here is my first cloning effort... and it's working unbelievably good. I cut 9 stems off a single Mango plant (AFTER flowering and harvest); 6 survived and here they are. This is the way to go. Get a good female, clone her, ride her forever. Details: dipped the stems in Root Tech gel, put 'em in Rapid Rooter plugs, set them in a domed tray for 11 days using 6 150W CFLs. Bottom of tray had Clonex mixed with water. Misted them every other day. After 11 days, put them in 16-oz. cups with FF Ocean Forest and perlite for 2 weeks (a little too much time, because they became root-bound). Transplanted into 3 gallon pots 1 week ago and they're doin' GREAT! Lighting is 12 150W CFLs plus 430W HPS Son Agro Philips light (great for vegging and flowering).
Find a strain you like and it will reward you forever!

Got to love the Rapid Rooter's. They are the best for cloning and seed germination IMO.

They look gr8t lordj congrats.

Nice job, especially for your first go at cloning.

I've been debating whether to use my Rapid Rooters or try a Bubble cloner. I'm surprised they did so well considering all that light you had on them. Just goes to show that you can get success doing your own thing. Most of what I've read concerning clones has mentioned how they like a lot less light, even as little as a 13w cfl! Did you use all orange light?

Your clones are looking really strong.

The CFLs were high up and off the side so as to not give them too much light. And yes, it was all "orange" CFLs. Note: they are twice the size now since I took those photos on Oct. 16. Will post some more pics soon.

Definitely,

And they look really thick, a lot of growth going on and a lot of nodes. A lot better then some of the clones I've seen online.

Clones grow so much faster than seed plants due to their maturity its the only reasonable way to grow smoke IMO. But for new strains and varities (and for me the alure of seeing what atrocious looking plants I can create breeding) then seed is the only way to go.

Are you doing some LSTing also? Nice job and I didn't know you could clone a plant after flowering and the little gals would do so well! That is so crazy cool!

Don't know what LSTing is...? So I'm not doing it. Cloning is just a super fast way to grow... and harvest. The strain is Mango and it is a great herb.

Yeah I know what cloning is, I just always imagined doing the cuttings while the plant is still in the growing phase and not after it had been flowered and harvested. @,@ That's whats crazy cool!

Default Clone update...

More pics of my cloned Mango. Started flowering one week ago. The HID light is a conversion bulb; great for anyone on a budget. The CFLs provide great side lighting. I try to rotate the plants twice a day.

Get ready to tie up the colas. Looks like you're going to have some heavy tops to deal with. Outstanding.
