btw how big is the res your using for your ebb n flow? i have one 30 gallon for my 2 veg trays and 2 20 gallon buckets for each flower tray. works so great just have to top it off every couple days and check ppm n pH. gota love the ebb

i only use 6 gallons in my res for my top feed, and 2 and a half for my small ebb and flow.

Ok i made a dwc bucket for my future Ice mother. have pics of the build along the way. My new cuttings are doing good, ive been trimming off dead leaf tips along the way. Rooted clones are looking good, i used one of them to be my future mother. Everything is looking good and green!

I like that DWC you got there. I build very similar ones they work great. I want to grow in nothing but them but I think I'm addicted to dirt!!
Is there a 12 step program for people like me??

OOOK i cut off about 6 colas today that looked good and ready.... MMMM the smell, the calyx's all have alot of purple tint to them. the hairs on these buds are 90 percent red... i dont have a mini microscope, so this is my only way to judge the plants maturity. Im letting the rest of the plant finish, as this opened up the plant letting tons more light to the bottom buds which are much more under developed.

OOOOO K i did major work today. Since the last mature plant was harvested yesterday, i decided to take the 5 small clones i had in my veg room, and put them in one basin in the flowering room, like a mini sea of green mixed in with everything else. ill have pics up later im exhausted now.

this isnt exactly the location for a question like this, ill answer it here, but ask again in the newcomers question forum again so you can get more answers.

A plant has reached sexual maturity around 4 weeks of vegging, a lot of times if a plant was started from seed, preflowers will develop even under 24 hours of light. There are more accurate ways of determining sexual maturity.
They are alternating nodal arrangement and leaves with 5 or more blades. You can flower before those features are present, but the plants perform a whole lot better if you wait. Most strains except for equ. sats have these by 12" or so. Personally, mine have always had these features before they reach 30 days old. -Videoman

If your asking how long it will take from the time you put them on a flowering photoperiod to the time you see flowers.... eh about a week give or take. Could be within days could be 2 weeks, depending on conditions.

ok, i ditched my ebb and flow, the tray was not deep enough, and the plugs dried out... i think i may go with a water culture to raise my clones for my hydro setup... cause im soon making it like 75% hydro and 25% organic. i figure the water culture, with these 5" baskets i have now is my best bet. Only it will be a.... shallow water culture system, made out the restaurant bus trays i use for my my top feed basins.

Im going to be constructing a new larger Ebb and flow system in my veg room. Ill post some step by step pics later if anyone is interested. This system is unique for a space that is limited on height.

Ok folks here is yet another DIY tutorial that ill repost in the DIY section, but this is part of my journal so it will be here also

How To build your own Ebb and Flow system with height restrictions.

How it Works:
This setup is designed for a room with not much vertical space. One of the main rules of thumb for hydro systems is that the basin must be higher than the reservoir level. With this system they are stacked right on top of each other. So, water is pumped from the bottom into the top until it reaches a level, in which it is drained back to the bottom, the same line it came in on. The pump will be linked to a timer so the system can fill and drain 3 or 4 times a day.

You will need;

2 Male quick connect garden hose couplings

2 Female quick connect garden hose couplings

5 Feet of 1/2" inner diameter tubing

1 Roll of Teflon Tape

2 1" o rings

2 Underbed Storage bins
Found this one at target

1 ~100GPH pump

1 Tube of Silicon

1 24 Hour timer

You will also need;
A powered Drill
A 1" Drill bit
A knife
Channel lock plyers

Lets get Started!

1. Mark where you are going to have your exit and entrance holes.

2. Cut those holes out, and Drill with your 1" bit where you have your marks. Careful with the drill, one slip and you might have to buy yourself another storage bin.

3. Line both Male couplings with teflon tape, and apply silicon to edges.

4. Turn the bin over and screw in both male couplings so that the adapter end is coming out of the bottom of your basin bin.

5. Screw on one of the female couplings to one of the protruding male ones on the inside of the basin. Then cut a piece of tubing so that when it is set in place, water will overflow at the opening of the tube.

6. Attach a hose from the other male adapter (that doesnt have the overflow extension on it) to the pump that will sit inside the bottom reservoir. And stack your 2 bins so that the entrance and exit lines run through the precut holes you made on the lid of the bottom reservoir.

7. Fill the bad Boy up with water until there is enough water to keep it cycling from the bottom to the overflow and back and fourth. Youll see once the water reaches a level, it will drain back to the bottom.

8. When you want to drain your system, attach a hose to another female coupling, and screw it on to the entrance line of your basin, which will bypass the filling of that, and send it straight to a bucket you have prepared.

Ok here is it set up, with my newly arranged veg room. I learned from my mistakes in the past...

1. my other ebb and flow was too shallow, and the plugs dried out...

2. i didnt have enough light for as many large plants as i was trying to raise.

3. i have the plants positioned so they can reach maximum height for the room (its a sharp angled roof)

4. they are spaced out far enough, and easily rotate-able and removable for transplant, which is important, as this is the veg room.

My clones are NOT doing good, they are rooting, but the damage is done... i think the cold got to them, i may consider a heat pad for my seedling tray.

I should probably also get some more mylar up in there, and ditch the bits of tin foil hahahahaha. but eh, its only the veg room

Ok yall i finally have some pics of my girls which have been flowering for a 12 days. I have them placed... oddly they kind of reacted a little differently than i expected the bigger plants in the middle actually grow up between the lights so thats ok, then i have a little mini SOG with 4 plants in a basin, and 1 in a pot, straight from clone. and 4 decent sized clones... Youll also notice that i tie my plants down, not only because i have to, but because it spread the plant out and opens it up.

Ok i loaded up my ebb and flow with a bunch of hurt up clones, hopefully some survive, i can tell they have rooted, but most of the foliage has died, i removed all dead foliage, and most of them look like little sticks with one little node left to possibly save themselves. i have them on a light PPM with base nutes and some added root stimulator.
