Default And some details for my friend Jebus..

Hey Jebus! This post's for you my friend!

Here are some pics that you asked for..

1) The cabinet as best as I could get it. Sorry! The shop is a mess!
2) The Exhaust Fan.. This pulls air from the 400W HID light.
3) The Reducer that takes the 6" fan down to 4" duct. Ideally I should keep it at 6". May change it later..
4) Aluminum flex ducting. Don't use plastic! It will melt. Also, this is the more flexible dryer duct.. I tried to the more rigid and durable flex pipe from home depot, but it did not bend enough.
5) The 400W HID. If you use a HID Get one with a remote ballast so it is easier to raise/lower.. and preferably a "cool tube" style. Mine is not that style..
6) A regular $8 fan from walmart.. Keep the air moving!
7) That diffuser I was talking about earlier.. turn the center part to draw air from the cabinet. I usually just keep it cracked a little. I could easily eliminate this and may..
8) Wall mount outlet with a hole running to the top for cable management.
9)Keep that cabinet awkwardly mobile!! It is nice to be able to roll it around easily.. but she is heavy. I mad a frame out of 1x3 when i built the cabinet and mounted casters from h-depot.
10) Foam weather stripping around the edges of the cabinet for light sealing.. this was a pain in the ass, and still is. It's OK.. but not perfect. Maybe refrigerator seals with the magnets? Junk yard time!

Default More..

1) The front seal.. weather stripping set in about 1/2 inch..
2) An over lap made on the left door to create a light seal. Made from scrap cabinet pieces from the toe kick at the bottom i did not use.
3) Another pic of the overlap from the inside of the door.
4) Over lap sealing and meeting up with the top shelf..
5) A 4" "T" that runs to the reducer then fan and is fed by the light and reducer.
6) Eye hooks mounted into the cabinet walls to support the scrog wire frame
7) The exhaust fan scrwed into the underside of the roof of the cabinet.
8) The all important timer.. 12 on, 12 off!

Hope this helps Jebus.. fire away with the questions!

Suh-weet!! set-up you have going there! I'm lucky, I have a closet and a spare room. Spare room for veg, closet for bloom. Works out nicely in that I MUST trim all the little twiggy stuff off before bloom, leaving only large healthy stems for colas.

Later,
4kaan4

Thanks Guys! I am looking forward to seeing what comes off of that beast as well! I am hoping all those shoots on the scrog turn into nice little mini colas.

Thanks so much!

That helps a ton, and I do have a few questions.

Is the top portion of the cabinet something you built extra or is it part of your cabinet? I am referring to the portion above the exhaust fan. I remember seeing a carbon filter at some point so I can only guess it is up there.

Do you have the exhaust fan on the entire time the light is on? off? I am thinking of getting a cooltube with intake from outside, and the exhaust fan getting intake from bottom. However I don't know how to go about controlling it. Ideally I would like to be able to run it at a lower speed when lights are off that way stuff still goes through the carbon filter with the negative pressure but energy is saved since the cooling need is less.

Now granted it will be strain specific, I am willing to go up to the legal limit of 6 plants here. Will I be able to fit 6 in there scrogged with an ebb n flow table through the entire length of the cabinet, or will I need to be cutting that number down to prevent overcrowding?

And lastly, do you have any online shop suggestions?

Thanks!

Glad I can help.. here are some answers to your questions:

Is the top portion of the cabinet something you built extra or is it part of your cabinet? I am referring to the portion above the exhaust fan. I remember seeing a carbon filter at some point so I can only guess it is up there.

That top piece I made from left over shelves and partitions from the cabinet. Mine was a wardrobe style cabinet, so I had a partition and a few shelves I did not need. I just made a three sided visual shield so you can not see the filter.. there is a pic without it a few pages back in my journal. The top and back are open, and just has a front and sides.

My fan runs 24 x 7. I am not sure about automatically running it at a lower speed during different times of the day.. The best I know of is running it on the thermostat, but that would only be on/off based on the current temp. Sorry! Maybe someone else can chime in with some more ideas.

Now granted it will be strain specific, I am willing to go up to the legal limit of 6 plants here. Will I be able to fit 6 in there scrogged with an ebb n flow table through the entire length of the cabinet, or will I need to be cutting that number down to prevent overcrowding?

Yeah, alot will depend on how long you let them flower and the strain. I am going to be really crowded with the one scrog plant and three others that are not scrogged.. I let the one scrogged plant veg for about 1 1/2 months from seed until I switched to flower. I should have started scrogging earlier..

And lastly, do you have any online shop suggestions?
I have had great success with hidhut which is a site sponser. Click the banner ads on the site to make sure GreenPassion gets its credt!

If you have any other questions..feel free to post a reply, or send me a PM. Posting a reply lets everyone benefit from the question/answers.
