Default Everyone is welcome to sample!!

I would love to share with each and everyone of you.. All you have to do is come here:

NY Harvest Fest back at Camp Minglewood, Hancock, NY

I think there are already a few from here planning to attend! We get enough people there, and we are gonna need a fatty!!

I hope to have some picked, dried, and a little cured by the time this fest rolls around. It's gonna be close.. Might have to take a few buds whilst the trics are still clear. That's all good.. I love the head rush high! I am heading to a festival next weekend too, so that's always a candy store.

Hey GG,

Usually when a plant is flowered to the very end it will produce a male flower or two, resulting in a few dozen seeds. Good news is that when this happens you are gonna get 100% females from those seeds!

Thanks 4kaan4! Good to know.. Ideally, I would prefer that. That is a good argument to flower late..

Question

Hey GG,

When I have a mudda that I want to breed, I trim down about 2/3 of it and then pollenate the smaller, lower buds. This allows the plant to concentrate the energy in the roots into maturing those seeds.

I don't know if you could, but if you left it unfertilised after the cutting, might the stress of such severe injuries cause it to hermi and then produce the feminised seeds? Of course you would need to keep it in bloom and not reveg...

Anyone out there care to take a shot at this question?

Later,

Default Oh No! Seeds!

Well, whilst I was off having a good time over a long labor day weekend one of my plants developed some seeds. Actually quite a few. I am not 100% sure what is going on here..but I think the plant stressed. It had been off color for a few weeks, but still developing and packing on weight.. but now she is quite yellow and almost all of the buds on her show sign of seeds. Did she hermie from stress? Maybe I have a male in the area and don't know it. I have a veg cabinet near by running 24 x 7. I removed this plant from the flower chamber.. Do I run the risk of it pollinating my other gals if it is in there?

I guess it is a mix blessing. I did need some more seeds.

I can't exactly tell from the pic GG but sometimes the seed sacks (not the technical name I am sure) swell even though there is no actual seed. Its a sighn of nice fat potent budz. I hope that is the case for you

Pollen can travel quite a way on the wind...my friend who grows outdoors says he can tell if anyone 1/4 mile away is growing males.

Seeds are a mixed blessing as you say...but if you have any...it may be a nice surprise...sometimes its exciting not to know what the final product is gonna be, and more exciting to know you have the only ones of their kind

any harm leaving it in the flower cab? Don't I run the chance of pollination with the other plants or no? There are some sticky buds on there, but I dont want to ruin my other plants.

if I understand the question correctly GG you are asking if the plant that may have seeds is safe back in the flower cab

If it was mine I would check her carefully again for male parts...if you find any and don't want anymore seeds..then keep her out of the cab

but if I can't find any male parts I would chance putting it back in the cab...the only thing that would stop me is if I was determined to have 100% seedless bud and was unwilling to take even the smallest chance of seeds...but really I think the chances are slim if you can't find any male parts after yet another careful inspection. any pollen she may have caught from elsewhere is probably either seed, dead, washed off, or otherwise inpotent..
does that make sense?

I think it's too late.. I see seeds developing on pretty much all of my plants. This sucks. Not quite sure what went horribly wrong.

well it don't take much pollen to do it...just a few tiny pollen sacs...I still hope it's just the seed sacs swollen with cannabinoids...but if it is not I hope you have the best seeds ever....did you open one up and see if it is just swollen rather than seeded? Don't want you to tear up the budz but if you can find just one you don't mind peeking in.

Yeah.. i should have clarified earlier.. I popped a few open with an exacto knife and there are semi formed seeds. The plants that are pollinated were good seed stock. The buds still smell really good too and are really sticky. I just really didnt want seedy bud. Not sure what to do.. it is day 28 or so of flower.

sorry GG...I can't know how you feel...but I do know how much work and thought anyone has to do to get that far into a grow...I hope we can figure out what went wrong so it doesn't happen to you again, I can't imagine how you can do much of anything about it now except finish up - separate the seeds and move on....at least it will still be good smoke.

Hey GG, it happens, and it's not the end of the world. There is obviously a hermie in the midst. I've seen some herm's with only one or two male flowers; very hard to detect at times, but that's enough. I Guess I disagree that your seeds will all be fems. I think hermie seeds will just grow more hemies.

In the end, just enjoy your smoke. It'll still be much better than any of the mids you can buy...B

Have you disected any GG to see if they are truely seeds and not fat calyxes? Take a lower bud you think is full of seeds, cut it off, and disect it, babes. And don't forget, ALL POT USED TO COME WITH SEEDS. It is just in the last few years all the buds do not. I remember when I was young, ( I know, long time ago!LOL!) It was all the time. Don't freak, it is all part of learning.

Peace

Thanks everyone.. I am not freaking about it.. just would have preferred some sensimillia. Who wouldn't! I am pretty sure that they are seeds in there... I took an exacto and popped one apart. It looks like an undeveloped seed at this point. You can kind of see one in one pic from my earlier post where I circled it. I may be wrong, and hopefully I am! I am going to let things go as they are and finish them out. No reason not to... they still smell fantastic and have really sticky buds.

Hey everyone.. I have to get some pics posted up, but I chopped all of those plants at 10 weeks just this past Tuesday and they are drying now. Some buds are loaded with seed, yet others are mostly seed free. The one "Donkey Dick" plant looks fantastic and really dense. The plant that I scrogged was loaded with bud and took FOREVER to trim. LOL. I was up until 3AM chopping away. Not sure yet on the total take but I am hoping for a few ounces. I will get some updates with pics soon. I have a few plants in my veg cabinet that I just moved over to the flower cabinet to go for round two. I will post a new thread on that, but I am going for growing some of the clones from these plants and a few lime kush to flower as well.
