Thanks J-angel.

It does not stay at 84.. that is the max the box gets up to, and is measured right at the top near the lights. The min/max for a day is between 76 and 84 or so. As for water, I am using tap water. I have a water softener here at the house. I am going to try using water filtered through a brita to see if that helps. Its odd though.. only one of the two is really looking bad. the other is starting to push roots through the bottom of the cup.

DO NOT USE WATER THAT GOES THROUGH A SOFTENER!!!!! YOU WILL KILL YOUR PLANTS!!!

They cannot take the salt that a softener uses to condition the water. That is your problem. Usually there is one tap that does not get softened water. It might be outside or somewhere but do not use the soft water on your plants. I have to buy water. My water is too hard for pot. I have to get 5 large bottles of water a week for my grow so I know it is a pain. You can also use rain water. Where my hard water was high on the ph scale, yours could be low on the ph scale. Try asking someone that is not colour blind to read the strip or take a colour pic of it and I will help you. Maybe the one plant is doing okay, but it will take a dive if you don't fix this. sorry babes.

Also, for the temps, try hanging your thermo. where the plants are. I rest it on the side of the plant pot, or hang it from string to get a reading where the plants are. It usually doesn't take long with a digital one. so even holding it there will work. Of course it will be hotter at the top. You need the reading where the plants are. Again, a pain, but helpful.

Thanks J-Angel. The temps in that cabinet seem OK, and I am thinking it was the water from the water softener. The one plant is pretty much toast, but the other is recovering I believe. I actually repotted the good one. It was starting to push out the bottom of the drain holes in the cup. The other seedling I started seems to be doing well too. When I PH the water that I run through the Brita it seems to be around 6.8 or so.. as best I can tell. I am guessing water run through a filter will also balance out the salts, etc as well.. correct? I am going to splurge for a good PPM and PH meter that is digital for future readings.

I don't even know for sure if the brita will take out all the salt from that GG. Lots of growers have to buy or save water. ISO uses rain water. I buy RO water. It is truely worth while to do it. If the one that was not doing well is still alive, don't give up on it. It could come back if you correct the ph of the water. Since you do not have that many, invest in a few bottles of water from wally world or wherever and try to flush out the salts that could be in the soil still. It builds up and will gradually kill the plant. You have to flush with 3 times the size of the plant pot of ph corrected water. Do a search on flushing to check it out. I am having a brain fart here and the old brain aint working anymore.

Good luck

Hope it works for you. Good luck.

I see a bypass before it goes through the water softener. I am going to try taking water from there and see how it goes.

GOOD!!!! I know we originally had softened water in this house but when I was expecting my son, it made me sick,(everything did) so my ex discounected it. My son is 18 in a couple weeks so you know how long ago that was! I don't care what they say, I think it is very bad for the environment also. How can adding salt to water be a good thing?

I hear ya J-angel. I actually just bought this house about two months ago, so I am still figuring everything out here. :-) I've never had a water softener before, so I am a bit ignorant to the alternatives to the salt based systems. I am going to do some research and see if there is a better system available and add it to the list of things I want to replace around here.

As always, thanks for the info and feedback.

Hey GG I got hard water and it's city too.Full of chorine and it stinks of it.I did buy water at first but that got to be to much going to wally world and getting 25 gals of disitilled water each week.So I came up with this filter system to get my water and use it right away.Homedepot sells a GE smart fitler. It removes chorine and a lot of crap in the water you dont need. And inline with that filter is a icemaker filter. It'a double fitler water. The ppm's of my water is over 600ppm's and after the fitlers it 240 ppm's.It took alot of crap out I didnt need and made it easyer to ph & grow with. Here's a pix of it.I hooked a washing machine hose to to a ball valve and a ball valve at the outlet to turn it on and off.It works great to.They cost $20.00 and the ice maker filter $14.00 and about $25.00 for all the pumbing. I put mind on a wood stand next to the washer. If I was you I would get a R/O system for my drinking and cooking water and use the soften water to wash closes and take baths in.Just a throught. If you are going to buy a PH pen and TDS pen I can say Oaktons are good ones,I have both and I hydro farm. I'll stop running off at the mouth and here's the Pix. Peace

Nice idea toke.. I am going to look into that next time I am out at home dumpster. I just found someone selling a PPM and PH meter locally, so I should have that at the end of the weekend. In the interim I have some spring water and distilled water I picked up to get by.
