Rep Power: 28 | | First grow ever! 10 Lowryder#2 x AK47 - Help is appreciated!!
Hello everyone...finally after weeks of researching and shopping, I finally have my first grow going.
All 10 lowryders germinated (they are feminized), but one was very late. They are on they're 6th day and looking good....I think...thats where you guys come into play!!!
Here's what im working with:
Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Nutes: None yet (should I?)
Lights: 6-54 Watt, 6500K T5 (high output) (4 Ft Long) (It can accomodate 8 bulbs)
Space: a 3.5'x4.5'x8' Closet
Firstly, I didnt think T5's were supposed to get that hot, but as you can see on this pic, I have to constantly have the door open with the fan on the plants, or the thermometer will get up to 93 degrees! Any suggestions?
Also, are you supposed to have the thermometert right under the lights, next to the plants?
Anyways, like I said, plants are on the 6th day, most are about the same, but one is taller than the rest...not sure why.
I have a couple questions, then will wait for some advice. Should I have my plants close together like they are? Does spacing them out ive them better light? Should I go to 8 bulbs already? I hear about people throwing a veg light (3000K or so) in there to broaden the spectrum? Is this beneficial for lowryders?
I know I have more questions, but I'm also in the middle of packing for Burgettstown, PA-off in search of the Famous Mockingbird .....
Anyways, any help would be appreciated!! looking into closet.jpg from outside, looking down on lamp.jpg Tray and light.jpg 1st six.jpg last four.jpg These pics were actually taken last night, so the babies are about 5 days old |

Rep Power: 201 | | Morning col. Lookin good so far. You need to get a fan blowing over those babies quick. Raise your lights another 6" also. Everything else sounds kosher, so get some ventilation going and you'll be flying. |

personally, i don't like the autoflowering strains as they rob you, the grower
of the ability to find a particularly tasty female and clone her into the future for
years to come (i have a mother plant from my first bagseed plant whose seed
was popped more than 2 years ago), with autoflowers, one seed, one plant, period.
that being said, i truly wish you luck! Quote:

Any suggestions? | while T5's run cooler than standard fluoro's, and WAY cooler than HID's, they do
still emit heat so you'll need to give us a bit more info, with pics,
on your setup so we can help you design an exhaust system to cool your babies.
in the meantime, take a couple bulbs out of that fixture, those little seedlings
don't need anywhere near that much light right now anyway and that kinda heat
will cook your weak little seedlings! Quote:

(once your plants are older, bigger and in need of more light, i'd recommend
running that fixture with 6 of the 6500K's and 2 of the 3000K's as all marijuana,
including Lowryder's, need both spectra of light throughtout their lifecycle).
btw, that light mix is for vegging, once you start to see pistils you'll want to
switch things around and go with five of the 3000K's and three of the 6500K's. Quote:

Hey Col,Well Bozo and zig has got you on the right track and there advise is right on top.Do some looking around at other post and some of the sticky, for they have alot of infor on venting and the how too's.I have a dark room vent in one of them you can check out. It's inportion that the air in the grow space is exchanged with fresh air.I ran the math on the cubic foot of your grow space and it says , THE CFM NEEDED TO EXCHANGE THE AIR EVERY 5 MINS YOU WILL NEED 25.2 CFM'S AND TO EXCHANGE EVERY 1 MIN 126 CFM'S.Bring in fresh air at the bottom and exhaust it out the top.Hot air rises and cool air stay down low. Oh I forgot to say Welcome to Green Passion. If you need more and I know you will just post it and we will help all we can. Peace

Day 11:
Unfortunately, Ive been out of town and had a friend water my babies-everything seems to be kosher, except for one of the plants has brown spots on the leaves (see pic below): Attachment 28734
Sorry, my camera is horrible, but the brown spots are visible. This is the only plant with this problm, so what could it be?
As i am a noob, I have many questions, my main 2 right now are when I should transplant into 2 gallon pots and if I should add 2-54 watt 3000k 4ft T5's (Iam currently using 6-54 watt 6500k 4ft T5's.) If not mix, should I go with the full 8-4ft 6500k? I imagine more light cant hurt at this point.
Any comments about lights would be welcome (adding or mixing of
spectrums)
Asfar as transplanting, well here is how fast they've grown in the last 6 days or so: 06232009101.jpg 06232009102.jpg 06232009103.jpg
The 2nd pic is the best looking of the 10 so far.
Aside from wondering when to transplant, Im also wondering when I should add nutes and which kind. Anyone with experience growing these, your help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Col,let them dry out some and when you tranplant them, just the next size pot up.You can put a plant in to big of a pot.The bigger pot you water more and it takes longer to dry, could the plant has a small root system at this time.Pot up to 1/2 gal or less and the soil will be moist just right to do your plants good. When they stop growing you pot up so the roots can grow out looking for food to eat. That help you any? Peace

Day 12:
Temp has been at a steady 79 degrees which is higher than I'd like.
Humidity has been around 40%. I actually bought a $40 humidifier, but its been doing nothing, and it's all the way up.
Is 40% too low?
Plants are looking nice, as Ive noticed growth. If possible, i'd like some more feedback as to when I should put these in bigger pots and anything else you can think of.
Thanks
The first and third pics are of the same plant, which is the biggest of the ten. Its actually already providing an aroma, which surprises me. Biggest plant-day 12.jpg Day 12.jpg Day 12 from side.jpg | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
