Rep Power: 102 | | First grow 5 kush 1 kahuna in a rubbermaid box
Ok, this is my first grow, I've got 5 kush and 1 kahuna, all about 10 days since planting. Their home is a rubbermaid box with 4 26W daylight cfl's and 2 23W soft white cfl's, and I've fought to get the environment to about 77 F and can't seem to get higher than 40% humidity. I'm a total noob, so I've been tinkering with watering, I think I started with too little, and I'm working my way up to too much.
I just put them on 1/4 strength nutes today, so I'm gonna see how that works out.
I guess that's it, here's some pics!
The last one is the Kahuna. The rest are Kush.

Hey there,
Welcome to the site! I just finished my first grow and the people here helped me out a TON. Listen to suggestions, the folks here know what they are talking about. If you aren't doin it already, make sure to ph your water before feeding to 6.5 - 7, i had a bad lockup problem in my 3rd week of flowering because I had really alkaline water from my tap. Good luck with the grow!

Thanks buddy, I've been checking ph before I water, this is a real low budget grow, so I'm not absolutely sure on the ph, but I know it is around 6.5, and definitely between 6 and 7.

Ok it is day 13 of veg, and the little ones have put on a little size in the last few days, except #4 which I will call runt. It has gotten a tiny bit bigger, but you'd have really look for it to notice. If anybody knows the cause/cure for runt syndrome, I'd appreciate the info, cause everybody else is doing so well, I'm curious what the problem could be...
Ok, enough talk, here's the pics!

So there seems to be some problems with my plants. First off I'm never sure whether I'm over or underwatering, so that could be it, and since I've barely ever given them any nutrients, I didn't figure I was burning them. If you can't tell from the pics, some are yellowing, two leaves on different plants are really messed, one of those is in the pics. They also look kinda wilted, and are all very short, 3-4 inches max after 20 days. So if anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it, and so would my plants.

I would guess that they are getting hungry, if you havent been giving them nutes then now would be a good time for some half strength stuff.

It looks to me like Manganese deficency. Check the Overgrow FAQ, plant abuse chart and nutrient deficency chart.

They look a bit undernourished and over watered. The chlorosis (yellowing) of the leaves is indicative of a N deficiency.

Wow, i cant believe only one person told you they are overwatered. That is what is wrong with them. Even the worst soil will have enough nutes in it to last 20 days. Those leaves look like cabbage or something....WAAAY to much water. You can even tell by just looking at the soil. Plants can go ALOT longer with little water than you think. One way to tell, if you are sure, when to water is to wait until the soil starts pulling away from the sides of the container. Or wait until the top 1-2" are absolutly bone dry. Trust me bro, you will notice when they need water before its too late. You arent going to underwater them. Lay off the water for awhile. Then next time you water add just a little bit of nutrients and water until a little bit runs out the bottom. You do have holes in the bottom right? If you dont, you need them. Just water until a little trickles out the bottom then stop. Those things are soaking wet. Good luck!

thanks everybody, I tried a little water with 1/2 nutes, and they have really perked up, so maybe it was both underfeeding and too much water. I'm gonna try more water less often, and keep up the 1/2 nutes maybe once or twice a week, and see what happens.

If I were you, I would REALLY check the "plant abuse chart" in the OG FAQ's. Only the lowest leaves are yellowing, and appear to have necrotic spots.

Thanks pappy, I've checked it over several times, and nothing seemed to be a fit. By now two whole plants are yellow, but they seem to have stabilized, and none are wilted anymore, it seems like it was a combo of several nutrients lacking, and too much water.

Hey man, i hope it all works out for you. It takes a little time, but you soon realize these plants dont take NEAR as much water as you think they do. On average i water mine maybe twice a week. Wait until the top inch or two is completely dry, i mean light brown dry and you should be good. You will water them before they dry out trust me. Overwatering is the number one reason for failure among new growers. Or so ive heard. Youll get the hang of it then youll be growing pounds and pounds of some super duper sticky. Good luck!
