Thanks for the input.
Ominous, from many understand you can use the malossess thru out the whole grow as well unless I miss read something along the way. And Hatch answered the question on the salt...
Hatch, what you are seeing is my starter box..seedling and clones when I get to that point as well as the beginning stage of vegging. There is 2-2 bulb t5s for lighting. I have a intake in the bottom right side that is ran up the fridge and along the wall for about 20 feet. The exhaust is in the upper left hand corner. That picture was taken before I added the intake and the axhuast.
I am still working on the main grow box, when it is finished I'll post pics of it. The daul 400 can be sealed and vented, I would just have to get the attachments to do that. But I figured I would see what the temps are before I did. I am going to be installing 3 exhaust fans that equal 300 cfm pulling the air. The intake for the box is going to be 2-9 inch fans pulling air in from the kitchen vent which is right above where the main grow box is.
All of this is in the basement, did some remodeling over the years, The basement is like a one bedroom apartment kitchen, living room. Have a half bath and where the full bath was going to go is where the grow box is now... .lol...Have to have priorities.
Just want to add thanks to everyone. Because it is very much appreciated to have a place like greenpassion. Where we can come and dicussion like this and not have to worry about who is around (i think you know what I mean..lol). Again just want to say thanks!! | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Old Hopeful For This Useful Post:

Just got down installing and wiring up the intake and exhuast fans today.
Got a question,
I am pulling about 300 cfm (per the box), on the exhaust, and have the 2-9 inch fans for intake cfm don't know.
When i close the doors i get a back pressure (best way to discribe) pushing out the intake fans. But once the doors are closed all seems well. It only happens when both fans are on full speed. I installed them with a dimmer switch to control air flow.
The question is, is this a major concern?
I have included pic's showing the set-up.
Tomorrow, I'll be hooking up the light . Then run the duct work and it'll be ready for use | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Old Hopeful For This Useful Post:

Everything Is Sounding Good, I Don't See The Pressure Being A Concern, I Feel It Is A Good Thing.
I Would Get The Kit & Install It, So That Hood Is Sealed, If Duct Properly It Can Make A 10*f. Degree's Difference, & You Will Also Be Able To Have The Light Closer To The Plants So They Are Using All The Lum.'s Possible.

Thanks Hatch,
I was thinking the same thing about it running cooler. Didn't know it would make that big of a difference. That just mean a road trip to the store, 1 1/2 hour trip one way. But we have been due for one, will be making it in the next week or so.
Got the light in place just need to run the wire, but I am in a pickle. Do I drill an 1 1/2 hole for the cord end or do I cut and resplice and only have to drill an 1/2 hole? hmm what to do
I will say this if the hood was about an inch wider it won't fit, got lucky there.
Again thanks for the insight,
Peace my friends.

Got the light installed and wired. The wifey was so excited that it was together with lights she wanted to move all the babies into it. You guessed it we did. Still have to run the duct work but other then that it is running and I figure it should hurt to much at this point not having the duct work installed yet.
Here are 2 pic's, the first babies in the new crib..LOL
I guess the lines is from the lights, it pretty cool.
Now we just wait and see.
Also I am going to be getting the duct work and glass to make the air cool tube for the light.
Also I have the light about 16 inches from the babies. Should I rise it more?
Again thanks for the insight and encouragments to work thru the issues that arise as they always do.

Look's Good, Ya You Will Want To Have The Light As High As You Can For The First Few Days (around 20" to 24") Or It Can Wilt Them Bad. But After Then You Can Lower It Down..
When I Make A Hole, Like The 1 1/2" For The Cord, I Will Use A Hole-Saw,I Keep What I Cut Out, Drill A 1/2" Hole In The Side For The Cord, Use The Pilot Hole To Screw The Cut Out To A Small Piece Of Wood, & Put The Cord Through & Then The Cut Out Will Fit Back In The Hole, That Sounds Like Alot, But It's Real Easy.

Okay here are the dreaded before pic's, give me a weeks or so and then I'll have the after pic's.
The first set of 3 is of the babies as the way they look now, after a week in the new box. The taller ones went thru a simlar shock when they was moved into my starter box after I finished it as well. My wife babied them back and I put another whipping on em when I moved them.
The second set is how the outside of my box is and where I have the intake and the third one is of the doors where am looking at putting a passive intake on each one. The top side one is where I am looking at running the duct work for my light from, since it is to high to benefit the plants.
I be running the duct work up the wall along the cieling and pulling in fresh air from the kitchen. There is a vent there already, I'll just be capping the end and using the vent for the boxes. There is a window about a foot from the vent so I'll be leave that crack an inch or 2 so it will be getting some fresh air from outside instead of just the air in the house.
The hump. is low at the moment because I was afraid of over watering and I let them really dry out, but I don't think that was the case here. They was looking like this and the hump. was at 48-50.
Hopefully that will take care of what is happening to the babies.
Thru trail and error we shall succend. | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Old Hopeful For This Useful Post:

Evening one and all,
Me was a busy boy today and ran duct work
Took a while because I had to disconnect the kitchen from the system and cap that end. Then it was on to running to new duct work.
Fisrt 2 pic's are how I ran the ducts, going to hold for a bit and see how this does before I go do anymore cutting.
The new 2 pic's was a added on bonus I thought of will running the duct.
I had notice that doing the summer time it gets kind of warm, well hot really . And how some peeps are having to put frozen water bottles in their cabs, then having to change them out every couple of hours.
What I did was take a cooler that was in the garage and cut 6 inch holes in the side. Then put it inline, that way when summer gets here and need to cool things down just throw a couple bottles in and good to go, haven't tried it yet but hoping to get atleast 6 hours from each rotion of bottle. Can get atleast 12 bottles in it if I have to, but for now it's empty temps are around 80-81.
After I had all the ducts where I needed and wanted them it was time to tape up the joints. It took a bit plus I sealed up around the fan boxes well I was taping. Got to love the handy man secret weapon duct tape. Over all it took about 8 hours from start to finish.
My lights come on at 1 and when I was finish it was about 7. Checked the babies when the lights came and and watered them and misted them. Closed up the doors and went to finsh the job.
My hat goes off to you Jangel, because at times I am like an old mule stuborn and have to be hit upside the head . Just ask the wifey .
Will I could not believe the difference in the babies and only after 5-6 hours with the new duct work. But they are and still couldn't believe, because They Are Alive again
The we little ones are doing better but you(I) could really tell in the bigger ones.
Here's some pic's for all.
Again thanks for the help and insight and guidence. | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Old Hopeful For This Useful Post:

Rep Power: 30 | | Long pause...just got done transplanting
Howdy Everyone,
I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything on my forum, but the last month just been trying to keep the babies alive and growing.
Today, we transplanted them into their final home for the duration. Everything is going good had some minor bumps and oops but made it to this point. The main issue is I still need to work on is my intake, they are not getting enough. I have that worked out just need to put it into aaction. For now while the lights are on we are leaving the doors open to help with that. Going to be putting passive vents on the bottom of the box before I put them into flowering and just going to pump the room they are in with fresh air. My wife is not to keen on losing another vent from the main part of the house to do this but she is okay becasue of the outcome from doing it.
Now for what we all like to see picture's
I have 10 in all, just hoping that isn't to many for my space I have them in. There was 11 before transplanting and it was a hard choice to decide which one to drop since we don't know what sex they are yet.
With this being my/our first grow we want with bag seed for trail and error phase and it sure was that. But like everyone says they are very forgiving and what I put these babies thru is a testament to that.
The first one is a group picture and the next 5 are just a random.
I do have a question about the unknown one, there is a side pic and a top pic. It looks and smells different then the others. I was wondering if anyone could possible give me an idea of what strain it might be? I know it is a long shot but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. The reason being is I am looking at trying my hand at cloning and that is the one I am going to try with. I know it's early and not knowing what (hopefully)she will be. But I know you should clip before she goes into flowering. Again figures what do I have to lose, if nothing else I am getting practice on cloning.
As for now, enjoy and any feed back is greatly appreciated.

Gr8t update OH they look really happy and healthy. I wish I could tell you what strain they are but that's a bit hard to do from bag seed. They look like beautiful plants you have done well with them.
You sure could take some cuttings from them prior to flowering. If you are considering topping them you could just take the top as a clone without any trouble. But you could take from other sites too.
Make sure you label the donor plant and the clone matching so you will know when they flower if they are female or male. The example of this is Donor A = Cutting A, Donor B = Cutting B and so on.
When are you planning on flowering them?
Keep doing what you are doing they look gr8t. Good work.
