Default Dual 600w HPS cooltube grow (soon to be 4 bucket dwc)

Hi all... Just came from the cfl club and after closet growing for about 8 months decided it was time to get out the HPS and build a little setup in garage!!

So built a 4.5ftx4.5ft with 6.5ft height room and have stuck 2 600w hps in with cooltube, rvk fan, ducking, other fans etc etc, and will be growing in 4 or 6 dwc bubble buckets but have to finnish off my soil plants first... Moved out the plants from my tiny cuboard grow and now they under the cooltube for last couple of weeks (bubblegum) also have a few 2.5ft tall plants that have been vegging nicely for a while and will go into the flower room as soon as the bubblegums have finnished off.. wonderwomen, LSD, and Sk~1 all in 11ltr in all mix(i think) gonna be feeding with canna nutes and hammerhead bud booster, seaweed,mollases,superthrive,h202.

Hope to get 2 buckets up and running this week as i just got 2 psycosis clones so looking forward to getting them in too included is some pics... will update regular as this is deffo a work in progress and room has only been working for nearly a week now..

The outside pics are the 3 in veg and the very last 2 pics are my monster K2 X UK CHEESE cross thats in my Aerosil pot i designed at xmas ... shes grown so big now and still a while to go before she flowers.. shes almost 5 ft will take new pic tomorrow as this from a week and a bit ago!! i think..

Nice grow dude, I was considering moving up to either a 600 or 1000W system, like the 600w ?
Thanks

well 600w gives u say 92000 lumes and 1000w only gives u 140.000 so.. i decided to use 2x600w instead of 1000w as its far more effecient.. do the maths..lol i also went for the cooltube as my plants are 4 inches from glass

well theres no heat worth mentioning coming from the cool tube as the glass is very warm to the touch!! not hot tho!!! and the room stays pretty much 2degrees above the ambient temp of the garage/shed its in!! 75/81 most of the time.. 81 when sunny outside

Very nice set up urban. The dual 600's will definitely pump up the volume. Gr8t strains they all look very happy and healthy.

Default Diy Autowatering/feeding system!!

I came home on monday after being away since the friday to find my plants looking completely and uterly hanging for a drink.. never seen anything like it and seriouse yellowing of too many leafs.. before i went they was fine and cant believe they got in such a mess so quick as they had a small amount of water saturday morning from my sister altho wasnt anywhere enuff... Anyways i have to spend few days away quite often as my girlfriend lives 50miles away and im just coming off a ban so i stay there few days at a time and so came up with a very simple and cheap method for autowater/feeding my plants...

I have 20l bucket as res(enuff to water my 2 big plants a couple of times) a small 2w 200L/h aquarium water pump from ebay that cost me £2.50(not auction), tube line for it £3, twin gang thing £1.50 and assorted airline connectors £1.39 and timer £5

The water pump has output adjuster and so does the small twin gang thing so i set it all up so it takes about half hour to fully water the pots(nice n slow)

u can see from pics how easy it was to think up but thought id share it with ya cos this will be a life saver for me

Default Chillin wit da cool tube.

Great setup you’ve got there. That cool tube is gunna work out great for you. I just finished a 1000W grow with cool tube and 4x4 table. I’ve got a 6” in-line fan pulling air through a carbon filter and then pushing it through the cool tube linked together with ducting. The tube stays cool to the touch allowing me to keep it inches from the top growth without leaf burn.

I used a 4x recycling DWC/Drip 5 gal bucket system, so I think our setups have allot in common. Running the buckets on a separate rez that you can easily drain and refill simplifies things allot. If you setup a recycling system you can add frozen ice bottles to keep the water temps in your rez below 72F. I also used an advanced mycorrhizal to promote root growth and prevents root rot with good results.

The only thing I would suggest is adding more plants under that cool tube. I found that placing only four DWC buckets under the 1K was a massive waste of space. My ladies never got any larger than the ones you have potted outdoors, just incredibly thick and bushy. I ended up adding an extra four plants in potted soil and still had plenty of room to spare.

You have ~180,000 lumens with a 4.5x4.5 space. I had ~140,000 lumens with a 4x4 space. From what I’ve heard 1k lumens from a 600W doesn’t match 1k lumens from a 1000W as far as penetration goes. However you do have the light spread out better and hitting your ladies from different angles so thats a plus.

The length of that cool tube is going to create a light signature that’s much longer than it is wide. I’d suggest at least 2x rows of 4x plants for a total of eight, or 3x rows of 4x plants if you can handle twelve. I’m switching to drip, adding another 4x4 table with in-line cool tube, and starting my next crop with 16 ladies under each 1K Super Blue allowing 1’ square for each (I’m even putting some in soil pots around the 4x4 spaces). If your ladies are going to need more space to grow try placing eight on a 4x4 grid in a checkered pattern.

I think the reflector hood on my cool tubes may spread the light out to the sides better so maybe 3-4x rows wouldn’t work for you. I’m just saying what works for me you know. Either way I’m sure you are going to love that cool tube. You can even put an Ice Box on the exhaust end of the cool tube and save a bundle on A/C without any ducting or carbon filters to expel the hot air from the room.

Thanks for the info man!!! at the moment i have placed of the outside plants into flower and when i had all 3 in they took up the whole space... perhaps they look smaller in the pics i dont know.. but yeah took one out cos its ill (sickly plants from start) and was thinking about adding a couple of buckets in there soon.. just saving up for the ECOLIZER nutrients range as they would appear to be favoured by many proffessional growers in holland and few here!!! is very expensive tho.. deffo would have better penatration with 1000w but i kinda figured having the cool tube will enable the 600w to get closer to plant tops and in turn the light will reach further down!!! once i get these soil plants done it will be dwc all the way ;)

Cool man. I can’t wait to see all those buckets when they get set up.

Yea I noticed the ones from outdoors filled up the space pretty well. The thing is that if you want to keep the light that low you are getting better penetration and higher lumens to the plants but your lighting a smaller area.

It’s really a trade off. I started off low but raised it a couple feet off the top growth in order to fit more plants in and spread the light better. If 4-6 plants is enough keep it low, but if you want more you can always raise it later.

I’ll have to check out that ECOLIZER line. I never miss a chance to look over the shoulder of pros to see how it’s done.

favoured by many proffessional growers in holland and few here!!!

Would that be US, UK, or Ca? I’m reppin the internationally unrecognized nation state of Texas. Hahaha.

WoW!!!,,Can You Say "Big Bud",,"Big, Big, Buds"!!!!,,,HEHEHE,,I Knew That You Could!!

Great Job Bro, That Set-Up Is Kicking-Some-Major-***!!!,,I Know Those Big Buds Are Beautiful, But When I Harvest Big Buds, After I Trim, I Cut All The Buds Of THe Big Cola's Off The Stem So It Will Dry & Cure Better, I Lost Some To Mold One Time That Was In The Center Of A Real Big Buds Ounce, So That's When I Started Breaking Them Down & Haven't Lost Any Since.

Great Job, Congrat's, Happy Smoke'nnn, & Time To Do It Again!!!EH!!!
