Default Digix's Greenery

Finally getting this under way...

I guess I'll start at the beginning. I found 5 seeds in some really good smoke well over a year ago and stored them away (always plan for the future ). Around Christmas, I started germinating them. 4 of them started to tap within a few days, the fifth never did; I'll admit that I didn't have ideal conditions during the germinating. Of the 4 that started taproots, only 2 ever saw my recreated daylight (I blame my crummy germination method; the next time I have seeds, I'll use video's baggy-humidor :thanks.

The 2 were growing quite well, I was feeding them some Vigoro root stimulator early on. Then I got cocky and stupid and put them into nutrient shock. Once I realized what was going on, I went ahead and decided to just transplant them to larger pots, so I leached the soil ahead of time to make sure they had the best environment possible after my atrocity.

One of them, unfortunately, didn't survive my mistake. The one that did, though, has supremely surprised me.

The first pic is of the survivor (Nicole, unknown strain), taken on Jan. 2nd, the second on Jan. 16th, and the third on Jan. 22nd. She has had no nutes since the "incident".

Shes a beautiful looking baby. Biggest mistake people make is too much nutes. That soil looks rich too, so i wouldnt be in a hurry to feed her.

What are you using for nutes by the way?
Peace

So now, Nicole is now just over 2 months old and she has made a miraculous recovery. The first 3 pics were taken today, after she had her last pruning before flowering in about 3 weeks. The pic of her main stem shows 3 internodes toward the top of her; the stem at the base is about the size of my index finger at the knuckle.

Then we have 4 of her clones in my DWC system. They are about 3 weeks old now and getting quite comfortable in the new system. I've started them off with some Vigoro root stimulator (it worked quite well on the others before I screwed it up) and some GH vegan compost tea. Through the friend-of-a-friend equipment purchase, I also got his nutes, so I have some Botanicare PureBlend Veg formula, Sweetener, and assorted others. Also have SuperBloom ready for flowering.

The plan is to veg the big mother and the clones for another few weeks while I prep a smaller veg chamber for my Shoreline clone thats still young in soil. I will probably take a few more clones from the mother before I flower as well so as to not loose the strain if they turn out good enough bud.

Oh, and the reddish color thats forming on the perlite is worrying me... Anyone have any ideas? Is this bad? (The perlite is just filler around the rockwool and they have a coco-fiber liner in the bottom)

I was trying my Botanicare PureBlend veg formula at the time.

As for the soil, I've been using a good seed-starting potting mix, so you're probably right, the soil has plenty for them.

Default The Shoreline is my baby

I was also able to obtain a Shoreline clone. I've been told that its a very skunky strain and a must have, so I'm hoping she lives up to the hype.

I've had her for about 2 weeks now and I think she was cut just a few days before I got her.

These pics have been taken over the past 3 days and she certainly is growing like a weed. (yes, pun intended) Imagine my surprise coming home for lunch this afternoon and seeing she had grown almost a half-inch since the night before!

I can't wait to see what she has in store for me.

Quick update...

Clones in DWC:
I figured the reddish colouration on the perlite was an algae or something, so I cleared that off and re-topped them with pea gravel. Beautiful new growth coming in and they are taking off nicely.

Shoreline:
Grown to 5" now and looking quite pretty with her thin sativa leaves.

Also have gratuitous pics of the fat, happy Nicole.

Default Update

Well, I've been busy the past week or so, but the ladies are doing great. I've quickly made (ugly) a blackout box for my shoreline clone to keep it vegging while I flower the rest of the group. I put then under for a full day of darkness on the 13th with a projected harvest in late April.

I'll be adding Super Bloom (12-55-6) and GH FloraNectar Sweetener (0-0-1) to the DWC tomorrow on their regular nute schedule. I'm not sure if I will give the mother in soil anything but a sweetener yet.

The last attached pic shows the overall layout of the current state of things... I have the main area for the flowering, my makeshift blackout box for vegging (with 138W of 6500K CFLs; my LED system is currently on hold), and the clone cabinet toward the top. I have 5 clones in the cabinet right now that were taken a week ago from the big mother.
