Hey Dead,
Eighty degrees is fine man, don't sweat it. Almost everyone I talked to in the beginning told me to stay in the mid seventies but I've been as high as 85 degrees and never had a problem. Ventilation is always a good thing (fresh air) so try and figure out your ventilation problems. Things are looking good man.

thanks man...as far as ventilation goes...i plan on a couple of four inch bathroom type fans for intake and exhaust but for right now:the closet is pretty big about 5 x 5 with an 8 foot ceiling and also theres about a 1 inch gap under the door...i put a fan in there and now about 7 hours later its at 77 humidity is about 35...they are all standing up pretty and still have a healthy green color...even the one the light fell on looks good...lightly misted the cubes and hydraton around them with my light mix of rhizotonic and spring water...time for work...ill be worrying about them all day...its almost like having three new kids...lol

-the Corsican. | 75 is really the aim for plants. Getting to 85 might not do anything to the plants that you can notice, but it will stress them, produce smaller yields and make them take longer to finish if you have continually high temps.

Hi W!
Not an expert or anything. I'm also on my first grow.
I had about the same humidity you'r having and I was advised by a lot of people in GP to raise it! Seems that when they are still little they need higher humid #'s... Around 50 % will do..
I got myself a humidifier, pharmacy style (vicks brand) and it definitely made the trick. If this appeals to you, there;s a model with 2 intensity levels, which I recommend since as they grow the humidity will rise by itself, therefore you'll need less from the humidifier..
peace!

| its holding steady at 77 now...humidity is staying around 40...left the closet door open for an hour or so for fresh air...also played them some radiohead and misted the hydraton and the cube and the plants and raised the lights a bit...they look healthy and happy as far as i can tell...theyre so cute <3 lol Quote: |

you can get great results with cfls. I used them for my first grow as well. when your vegging your humidity isn't quite as important as when flowering. when vegging try to keep it between 40-70.lower that down to between 40-50 during flower and your good.(that's what I go by) I also use one of those vaporiser for raising humidity. they take up little room and work very well.

That's when mould will come in and eat out your long awaited buds. As I understand, the plants should start their life in very high humidity (propagation domes) and it will be lowered progressively as they approach their end...
So given their size they should be on a much higher humid...
Peace!

Robot,
Seventy-five is not the sweet spot for Cannabis. There are so many factors that define the best temperature it is almost mind-boggling. A very experienced grower here at GP gave me his opinion and said the sweet spot was 82 degrees. I'm just using his opinion as an example of how everyone out there has had good results with temps outside of some magical sweet spot. Overall plants should probably be kept between 72 - 85 degrees, anything inside of that and things will be fine.
There are too man variables in MJ growing. Some plants like high temps, others don't. Most of the weed growing in nature happily puts up with seriously high temps and produces gigantic buds packed with resin.

| good call...thats some of the best advice ive gotten yet...im just tryin to keep it between 75 and 80...humid is still between 35 and 45...does anyone else think thats low?
i havent seen any growth at all yet but they are standing up nice and pretty...im assuming theyre putting all their energy into growing roots? roots were just barely starting to make it out of the cube when i got them...still spraying with the light mix of water and rhizotonic...also put rhizo in the res and phed so when they do make it out of the net it will be all good to go...then ill start with a little floranova
im a bit worried about the fact that i dont have a drip system keeping the hydraton wet...ive been spraying the hydraton with the rhizo water a couple times a day...the res water is topped right up to the bottom of the net pot and the net pot is wet and drippy from the bubbles so i know the bottom of the hydraton is ok but the top dries out so fast...the cube holds moisture though and i dont want to over water it...they look really green and healthy to me though so im not gonna trip too hard
heres some pics...the first two look great to me...the third is the one the light fell on...also fixed my lights so theyre hanging not sitting on the tops...and the last one is of my highly spoiled kitties who both LOVE weed and dont understand why i wont let them in the closet...lol

| im running the lights 24 hours...i know alot of people say 18/6 but theres a lot of people who go 24 too...i figured that since all i have right now is 2 26 watt cfls on each plant it wouldnt hurt to keep it on 24?
ive got the temp under control its staying between 75 and 80...im still wondering about the humidity though...is between 35 and 45 too low?

Hey Dead,
Seems like you're doing a lot of the same things I did. I decided to veg 24/0 also and I had times of really low humidity also (37% being the lowest I can remember). It didn't seem to affect the plants in a negative manner and since then humidity has gone as high as 55%. Right now I'm probably right around 42%. I wouldn't worry about the hydroton being dry on top, mine was also. Hydroton wicks up water an inch or two from the water then stops wicking for some reason after that. I had no problems and I experienced the exact same thing as you.
I think you're doing fine so far.

I believe you are doing fine, in my humble and novice opinion, though I do think they could benefit from a bit of a higher humid, just for the sake of their well being. However, it's up to your eye to see if they show signs of overtranspiration (very edgy tips, leaf texture and such).. When they are kids they tend to suck up on some humid by the leaves..
This is the tread that made me go for the humidity thing.. Though I am on soil and they were a bit smaller than yours at the time being.. help with first time grow
hope this helps. nice growing & peace | | The Following User Says Thank You to geegee2 For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
