Hello All,
This Is my First attempt at growing mj, and I Hope you all can help if I get into to much trouble... Anyways, I Writing this a good way into the grow as I just joined the group a couple of days ago. I Have 4 plants starting ther second week in flower (12/12) the strain is sensi big bud and I started with clones from a friend that were about 10" tall. I'm Growing in cabinet I built from plywood that has a grow chamber with internal dimension of 30 inches x 24 inches x 60 inches and contains 2 Two Site Auto pot systems ( A total of 4 two gallon sites). Next to the grow chamber are two 14 inch wide x 24 inch deep chambers one on top of the other. The top one houses My Auto pot Resevoir and act as supply duct to a 5 inch inline blower, the lower one is the exhaust plenum and contains a 200 cfm carbon filter. My lighting is provided buy an 8 bulb 2 foot T5 fixture with 3 HO cool bulbs and 5 HO warm bulbs installed.
A Little history:
I got the clones from a friend who was growing in soil and top watering, I Had decided to use the autopots with a 50/50 mix of cocoa coir and perlite, and was afraid to introduce his soil into my media. When I transplated the first plant a tried to wash the soil off the roots before I inserted into the new media. This did not go well, and it just seemed awfully "invasive" so I chickened out on the remaining three and just transplated them soil and all into the coir/perlite.
When I put the plants in there new home I had to fill the resevoir but was afraid to add nutes to the water thinking that might be too agressive. I decided to use straight water for a few days because I belived that would be safe, besides I didn't have a ph kit yet and plain water couldn't hurt them, Right? Wrong! I later Found out that my tap water is about 7.8! Oops! After a few days the plants started turning yellow ang browing from the leaf tips in and form the bottom up, What I Now know was a severe case of nute lock-out. After adjusting the ph of the water and phasing in nutes Three of the plants recovered well (the three I transplanted with the soil) and the fourth was surviving, barely. I Continued to veg the plants for two weeks because I did not want flower them when they were in poor health, and once they started showing significant new growth and were using water faster I changed there photo period and started flowering. I was a rough start but things seem to be looking up now!
As Soon As I can find My Camera charger, I'll Take some pics and post them. If any one wants further info on my cabinet, I could post drawings as well.
Thanks in advance for any advice, comments, questions or ridicule you may provide!
Peace
