Wow - this seems a very well thought out and researched first grow...I think you are off to a great start...the only thing I would suggest (and only if you let your plants get large) is an occilating fan that gets moved from time to time...I think the more random powerful air flow makes the branches strong enough to hold big budz

True and that is what I am saying, Low budget here, but when I see my babies needing more light, I cant help but make them better...LoL

Anyways 400w of CFL's should not be any different than a 400w HID, it's just that initial purchase that hurts, I would think and going digital ballest may even save some money on the elec bill, good question for the Pro's..

Peace,

Day #4

My babe is still looking about the same... ph was back up at 6.8 today....so again i hit it with some vinegar....down to 5.8 it goes....i also lower the lights a bit this evening...so we'll see how she likes that....i think i made my first real idiot mistake of this grow just now....i picked up the bottle, of what i thought was vinegar, and poured a lil in the cap...stirred, then rechecked the ph....it was the same....did that again.....it dropped a single point (0.X) ... so i kept doin that until i got to 5.8.... putting more and more each time.....it took 6 or 7 times, using a half a 20oz bottle....then i turned around and noticed a bottle on the floor.....hmmm....what is this, its the vinegar....woh, what was i pouring into the res?....none other than the fizzy water i have been spraying her every night with.....needless to say, i felt like a moron....so i added a cap full of vinegar and right to 5.8 she went.....just thought i would share my moment of n00bness with u guys, and girls ;)

Hope it doesn't hurt your baby. Looks good sweetie. Keep up the good work. AND I think you need a bigger reservoir.

TOT,

Just as a suggestion, next time you change res's set it up a day or so in advance, and if possible, run an airstone just as if it had plants in it. Give it time to settle the pH, adjust, then put your plants in.

If your res is stable it makes life so much easier and that is generally the case, but there are times when we just chase our tails for the whole grow, too!

Listen ace. I don't know hydro. Have you tried checking out the FAQ's? I know in the Green Passion one there is a BIG section on Hydro. Take a read through there till a hydro person chimes in sweetie. That is the the best I can suggest. I would only be talking out of my behind if I gave you any sort of advise. I would do what ISO suggested. He knows what he is saying. Peace

Hope it stablizes for you.

Hey ACE,How you doing. You will be fighting PH swing alot with GL nutr. You start them off at 5.8 and they will drift up in the 6's.I let mind go up to 6.7-6.8 and then it's time to change the res anyway. One thing will help is get some Buffered PH up and down that's used for hydro growing. The pool ,pond, fish tank PH stuff dose work very good. Vingar and bakeing soda works but it dosent stay stable for long.Ok how many plants are you growing at this time.More than two you will want a 15 to 20 gal res.Much easyer to stablize and keep it that way.when they are as small like they are,all they need is plain water till they get two sets of leafs. Then it's 1/4 of the bottle.I see in your pixs you have rockwool cubes, did you soak and raise them with PH water.Rockwool will cause ph to go up.You will need to put some hydroton or silcan chips or pee gravel in the pots before the roots pop out of the cubes.Put some in the pots and put the cube in and fill around it.The hydroton and silcan chips and pee gravel are PH neutural. You have done a ton of home work and it's pay off. There's alway little bumps in the road. You run into trouble hit me up I'll try and help you out.Just get some fill in the pots and pick up some ph up&down and you will be ok. Peace

Day #5

thx toke....i am only doing one plant for this grow, just to get used to the process....i drained and refilled the res today....ph was at 4.5 and tds at 160 to start with....ph'd the water to 5.4 then started adding nuts....added some grow A and also some B this time....then i ph'd the res again to 5.9, putting my final tds at 350....in the process of adding nuts i also added a cap full of super thrive..... this mixture is slightly stronger than my mix from this past week, last week a put just a little ST and just a small amount of grow A, but no B, which gave me a tds of 250-260 all week....

this may be a little strong, but i just want to see what the plant will tolerate, as this is a learning grow for me....next time around i will do it based off my mistakes from this time, with probably 4 plants....but for now its just an experiment....

i will add the hydroton after i write this report
