Default AcEz FirsT GroW - Hydro, Bag Seed

Well, I would first like to thank all the people who have made this possible on this site and many others in the community. You know who you are. I have read so much great material regarding herb. Now, down to business...

Grow Area..

My grow area is a standard sized closet. 73 to 78 degrees with 30% to 50% humidity. I'm running a 250ish CFM intake fan and the same on the exhaust. Intake is coming from a small room with a portable AC in it which keeps the room very cool. Intake and exhaust are running through 4" duct. There is also a non-oscillating fan in the grow room to keep air moving. Also got some tin foil on the walls to do some reflecting. Note: the TF has been smoothed ALOT. I couldn't find any Mylar locally, lord knows I tryed.

Lighting..

All lighting is CFL. There are a total of 12 CFLs of different colors, putting out a total of about 300W. Lights are height adjustable and on a timer.

Water..

We have a well out back, and I run the water through a Brita Filter. TDS is 150 out of the tap. PH is in the low 5.x.

Hydro Setup..

My hydro setup consists of a single large aquarium airstone from Walmart. Tubing, drippers, Ys, etc have been provided by Harbor Freight Tools(HTF) via a Hydro Kit. And my submersible pump also came from HFT. My res. is a large tote from Walmart, somewhere between 10 and 20 gallons, I forget which.

Nutrients/PH..

Greenlightning are my nutrients of choice. I ordered their Grow Part A & B to start out with. Also using Baking Soda and Vinigar to control PH. Testing will be done with Ebay'd digital PH and TDS testers.

Current Readings..

PH = 5.8
TDS = 250

I'm starting very slow with nuts. Lighting is 24/0 atm. Feeding 3 times a day for 15minutes each.

Pics..

More creative talents flowing here! Very cool set up.

As for the tin foil, you could always replace it with one of those "Space Blankets", which is mylar. You would be better off painting the walls white than using the tinfoil..JMHO.

I could not open the pics due to them not hosted here. Hosting your pics here is always safer for everyone, and they open much easier.

BTW, is it OK for folks to make comments to your journal? If not, I'll remove my post.

I think they prefer to have the images hosted on their site from a privacy/security perspective. The have no control over who/what/when has access to stuff on other servers.

The images may still be accessible, but I believe they prefer you upload your pics via the "attachments" section of the advanced post.

GG

PS. Hey! Great start you got there.. I look forward to seeing how you make out. I am fairly new here too and am always curious what fellow members are doing in the space provided to them...

Day #3

This is two days in a row that I have had to reduce the PH....it went from 5.8 to 7.0 in a 24 hour span....is that normal?

Looking good Ace, look forward to see how your hydro goes... I see myself going out every week and buying another CFL setup, but I know it 2 more months the money I spend on all those lights could have got me one hell of an HID... I have a little closet like yours with my current grow, but told the wife that we will need to clean out the walk in closet soon...

Cant answer your PH with great certainty, but I believe I have read that ph can sift really quick in a small res, while working with Hydro. I know the Pros will chime in..

Peace,

Sock
