Default Probably a stupid question

I have ordered a 4'11" x 4'11" x 6'7" grow tent kit w. all duct work a Vortex fan and the adj. hangers. I also went to my local hydro Store a purchased a 4 bulb T5 ballast with 2 150 watt HPS lamps. Will I see problems using both types of lights? Or will it be good for my babies? I plan to hang the T5 over tom w/ the 2 150's angled from each side down on my plants. Just wonderin.

I think that would work very well. Some folks mix the lights some do not. It is a matter of preference.

hey radiojack...

I got easy answer for ya..that tent you order polly is a tent that will prevent the HPS to be detect in "FLIR" heat infrared screen that leo uses to find who are growing at home...leos do have it in their cars..and helicopter has nice tech of it.. but that tent can prevent from using the HPS to be detected.. but that T5 lights do not worry about that it is no needed to put that in tent.. you got 400 hps.. that is good.. but to start seeding.. you can use that T5 and grow it in veg.. the FLIR will not detect the T5 at all... you can do that in your bedroom. .or somewhere at your home and start from there.. until you decide to throw them in flowering.. then it's time to use that tent along with the 400 hps in the tent.. and have fun.. be sure you use the vent to be connected with fan to the tent.. then that same vent going to the hood.. and the other fan is for exhast with other hole in the wall... it will keep the bulb cool.. JIMO to save your bill and it's no rocket science..

If you have seedlings or small clones, have them veg under the t5 fixture for a couple of weeks. When you transplant to bigger containers, (I'm assuming this is a soil grow?), have the HPS over the tops and use the t5's for side lighting.

Got pics? We, here at GP, are a bunch of pic whores. BTW, welcome to GP.

I plan on taking Pappy's advice. I have just ordered 5 PPP (fem), 10 Jock Horror, and 10 WW from Nirvana. I plan to Veg in a smaller chamber under the T-5's then like you said I'll move them from the Veg chamber to the Grow Tent under the HPS for flowering. Looking forward to getting this going. I will have pics up as soon as I get everything put together and get the seeds sprouted. I plan on starting w/ 2 PPP as I'm pretty sure they will act as advertised (Femenized), 4 Jock Horrors and 4 WW's as I'm sure I'll get a cpl males. I would really like to Crossbreed a cpl of these strains...Any Ideas?

I would like to have no more than 6 flowering at a time. I do plan on cloning and keeping a harvest going and crossing some genetics on the way. I will use my Veg chamber to grow the clones...and if need be I will flower more if space allows.

Wanna hear a stupid question. Everyday at work i get. "kailiwela44, may i disturb you with a stupid question?"

kailiwela44

As far as your SOG question goes it's pretty simple. Can't find the picture link but...
In the veg area you preferably would like to have your mothers/clones/veg plants. When you take cuttings/clones you do the process of rooting them. Once they are rooted, place them in your growing medium and either send them back to veg a bit or straight to the flowering--can only go straight to flower once rooted. Now that is basically one part of it.
Most people get perpetual and SOG mixed up. If you want a SOG, you basically fill the entire flower area with cuttings/regular plants so that the entire space is full of flowering girls.
If you wanted a perpetual type of grow, it's similar to SOG but the difference is staggering the times where you entire plants to flowering.
Benefits for SOG is large harvests at a single time
Benefits for perpetual is a continuos supply of herb.

I'm sure others will add more info and post a link

Hey Radio. I am looking foreward to seeing your set up!

To find information on Pretty much anything your little heart desires in the way of growing, go to the Home page, look on the left hand side. Links to both of our Faq's are right there and will give you everything you need to know. We have our own GreenPassion FAQ and one brought over from Overgrow. Take a look through both of them and learn how to find them as they have many things in them that will be of tremendous aid to you in growing. Pay special attention to the Plant abuse chart.

And have fun!

Peace

Radio, I would not put more than 6 of my plants under a 400 watt light, using that same math, you need a 150 watt light for every two plants.

Could you get by with what you have, of course. You'll have nicer colas though if you can get another light.
Peace
